0038 The first generation of Paul nemesis

The suggestion for Paul was proposed by Su Yang, because Paul started this season and was about to be selected for the Best First Team, Best Second Defense, and won the assist King and steal King. He averaged 21 points per game and almost won the MVP.

But McMillan and others were quite surprised about Su Yang's proposal, because in their opinion, although Paul averaged 178 games last season and had great steals, he was limited by his height and did not need too much attention, and he was not Iverson.

McMillan suggested that the focus should be on David West and Peja, because those two are the main players in the Hornets' scoring, and Chandler, who averages nearly 10 points and 12 rebounds per game, should also pay attention, because Chandler can do a lot of things around the paint area.

After a long discussion, Su Yang knew that it was difficult to convince McMillan and others based on verbal words, so he gave up temporarily.

The plane arrived in New Orleans at 3 a.m. He first left a message to Bob for video, and then slept until noon.

In the afternoon, a scout colleague who was originally visiting the Rockets in Houston flew to New Orleans as planned to meet with the team and brought an analysis video of the Hornets' first match against the Kings in the new season. Su Yang took the video to attend the meeting again.

The video shows that Paul played for 37 minutes, made 7 of 13 shots in total, and made 7 of 8 free throws, efficiently scored 22 points, 12 assists and 8 rebounds, and had 3 steals. His presence was simply full, and he had only 2 mistakes in the key, like a god of war.

Orion Green, who was directly defending, was caused by Paul to score 2 points, 4 fouls and 1 assist.

Faced with the stern evidence of the video, McMillan and others finally realized that Su Yang's proposal made a complete sense.

Su Yang mentioned how to limit Paul and how to consume Paul. The method he proposed was a summary of practical experiences of many teams and multiple coaches in the NBA over decades, including the Spurs led by Popovich, the Warriors led by Cole, the Thunder led by Brooks, and the Grizzlies led by Hollins, all of them were Paul's victims.

At the end of the story, Su Yang felt that he was cheating, using the sword of the future to kill the current cannon.

McMillan and others frowned at first, and as they listened, they gave him a thumbs up and praised him for being awesome.

After the meeting, Su Yang followed Otero and others to visit Orleans, which was rebuilt after the disaster, listened to jazz in a bar, tasted paella in a restaurant, and tried local food fried alligators, and saw Latin beauties.

At the end of the tour, Otero and others were preparing to go to the nightclub, but they also pulled him together and said they would take him to see.

Su Yang politely declined. He drove to a GameStop store, bought a PS3 and several game disks, returned to the hotel with McRoberts, and played the Battlefield Twins until late at night. Finally, he called the garbage game wasted time.

The next morning, the team held training as usual.

Su Yang arranged the plan formulated at the coaching meeting and used the provocation method to tell the players that Paul was very strong. Paul may continue to occupy a position in the All-Star backcourt in the next ten years, and Paul will be the God of point guard.

Although to be honest, the Trail Blazers players still felt that it was too exaggerated. Jack was even angry, thinking that Su Yang was trying to defeat his prestige by others, and said that he must strictly guard Paul and not praise him so exaggeratedly.

Su Yang nodded silently to agree with Jack's proposal that that was his purpose, and Jack only helped Paul the pioneers.

"Listen, Jack, I suggest you use your ass to bully him when you are playing against Paul..."

In Su Yang's opinion, although Paul is only 183, he has strong muscles and strong strength, and he has basically no chance to rush hard on his shoulders. He also has a fast horizontal movement speed and a very good defensive attitude. It is difficult to be thrown away face to face, and there are super high ball makers to judge the basketball route.

Paul is just afraid of his big butt.

As long as someone uses big butts, Paul will basically perform abnormally, such as against Deron Williams.

However, any short point guard is afraid of big ass, because that will make it difficult for them to get started and be unpredictable.

In addition to strictly guarding Paul, Su Yang also led the team to practice breaking the joint defense, because the Hornets have extremely strong joint defense this season, so strong that they rank second in the Western Conference with joint defense. Even in the Western Conference semi-finals, the Spurs would have been seven games. If Horry had not injured West, the result would be unpredictable.

In the afternoon, the entire Trail Blazers rushed to the New Orleans Arena and began pre-match warm-up practice.

Su Yang watched the sidelines of the court, and several Hornets scouts came to him to chat. The reason was that ESPN just released a special article about him in the morning, introducing how he changed from a scout to an assistant coach, and how he completed his final kill through three consecutive timeouts in the Trail Blazers vs. Spurs. That article made him whispered like a god coming to the world, and even had ulterior motives.

The Hornets scout hoped that he would share his experience, and Su Yang told them truthfully that experience is strength and luck.

The competition officially started at 7:00 pm.

The Trail Blazers start the same, while the Hornets start the start are Paul, Peterson, Peja, West, and Chandler.

When he was about to play, McMillan repeatedly emphasized Su Yang's suggestion and asked to be implemented according to the timing.

With cheers all over the court, the Hornets won the jump ball, Paul led the ball through the half and found cover to break through and pass the ball.

Peterson received the ball in an open space and made a fuck. Poulzbila got the rebound, but the fast break was restricted by the Hornets' joint defense.

Fortunately, Webster grabbed the offensive rebound and passed it to Ade, who was passing it, and he had a hard time getting two points.

As if they had an appointment, both teams worked hard on the defensive end, and they played in the first quarter until five minutes left, and it was only 10-8.

However, Paul did not show Su Yang's power before the game. The Trail Blazers' emphasis on Paul gradually decreased, but Paul immediately intercepted and accelerated the attack, as well as pick-and-roll assists, causing Jack's offensive foul to drive the whole game.

McMillan called a timeout and repeated one of Su Yang's strategies against Paul: actively changing the defensive strategy.

In Su Yang's opinion, Paul is too smart. Any inherent routine will be cracked by Paul a few times. Only by actively changing the defensive strategy can Paul think more when dealing with the ball, and that moment is the opportunity for the Blazers.

After the suspension, the Trail Blazers re-targeted Paul, Ade occasionally delayed the obstacles, and Roy occasionally doubled the team, which was unpredictable.

Just like that, Paul's efficiency quickly decreased, but after the first quarter, the Hornets still led 24 to 20.

In the second quarter, all the Trail Blazers played their best. Jack used his big ass to hit Paul every time he attacked, which made Paul feel very uncomfortable. In addition, the Trail Blazers were already stronger. At the end of the half game, the Trail Blazers overtook by 1 point.

During the intermission, Su Yang once again analyzed how to deal with the Hornets double-team and proposed to focus on killing Chandler.

Because Chandler is the Hornets' defensive core, Paul is very powerful in linking with him, and his threat must be reduced first.

When the third quarter started, Roy used the cover of Prizbila to play, intentionally carrying Chandler to break through and layup. Although he almost got blocked twice and made three misses, he still successfully caused Chandler to commit two fouls.

Chandler went off the court for three fouls, and the Hornets' strong defense collapsed instantly.

Adr, Webster and Roy joined forces to make 8 of 13 shots, while the Hornets did not have Chandler's offensive end, and half of the pick-and-roll selections were reduced. Paul's performance was further affected, and he made two erratic mistakes, and he almost made no contribution in a single quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Su Yang suggested taking the initiative to change the formation and increasing the outside scores instead, and caught him off guard.

McMillan adopted the suggestion that the Trail Blazers will do the same, and the Hornets are still strictly preventing Adder, Webster and Roy from hitting the inside. Jack and Fryd made three-pointers with open spaces and made 5 of 6 shots in total, directly defeating the Hornets.

With 5 minutes left in the game, the Hornets fell behind 75 to 96, and head coach Scott suspended the timeout and gave in to the main player.

In the end, the Trail Blazers beat the Hornets 109-81.

Paul made 5 of 12 shots in the whole game and made 4 rare mistakes, which was very different from his first game performance.

At the post-match press conference, the reporter asked how to restrict Paul. McMillan laughed and said that Su Yang was Paul's nemesis.

That night, the whole team boarded a plane to Houston overnight, preparing to challenge the Rockets back-to-back away games.
