Chapter 7 Start Writing

In the days that followed, Jing Yu basically prepared his own plagiarism cause in the hotel.

After observing articles in newspapers for a period of time, of course, this also cost Jing Yu a lot of money. He decided to copy or borrow the article objects, which were neither British classics nor modern novels, but subscribed to magazines like "Readers" in kindle.

He will select short articles from those magazines that can ignore the background of the times and are full of humanity and inspirationality, such as "A Bowl of Soba Noodles". Of course, he also needs to change the soba noodles in it to other British foods and change the name to commonly used British names.

There are also various human shortcomings with Carnegie's name, and advantages are also good choices. Jing Yu compared the articles in the newspaper and was sure that these were enough to be hired by the newspaper's editors without causing any trouble to himself.

After all, in a place where you are unfamiliar with your own life, copying articles may cause you a lot of trouble, but Jing Yu estimated that no matter what society, he would not be able to kill those Xiaowen who could not solve the problem.

So every day, Jing Yu used the dipping pen provided by the store to dip in ink to copy. As for the Montblanc pen he brought with him, he should keep it for pawning if he has no money in the future.

The original articles were either in Chinese or translated into Chinese, so he had to translate them into English, the modern English he was familiar with.

Translation is an extremely painful thing, especially as a non-professional person, which is a time-consuming thing.

However, Jing Yu has time now. He basically needs to translate an article of hundreds of words for two or three hours, using a few pieces of manuscript paper, and finally finish it.

Fortunately, this process has decreased as his efficiency improves. After a few days, he can basically complete a two or three thousand words article in one day.

Jing Yu's daily life is very regular. When he wakes up in the morning, he will go to the hotel to drink a cup of coffee, eat some fried eggs with bread and butter, and then return to his room to start "writing". He will also use solar panels to charge the power bank.

At noon, he would go down to have lunch again, then after lunch, go back to sleep, wake up and continue to "write". Finally, in the evening, after dinner, when the sky was not dark, he would pack up his charging equipment and leave the hotel for a walk nearby. Only then did the air outside be slightly better. In this era, the air pollution in London was notoriously serious, but it was much worse than the smog in later cities. The title of fog city does not only refer to the heavy water mist.

But it is not okay to stay in the hotel alone without going out for a walk. Jing Yu could only risk his life to go out for a walk every day. This is not an exaggeration. From the mid-19th century to the mid-twentieth century, the air in London was really life-threatening, and not once or twice.

So he didn't dare to leave too far, and he would bring his bag with him every time he took a walk, which contained his mobile phone, kindle and other important items. After all, it was not very good to read from the newspapers. If someone stole it, he wouldn't find a place to cry.

If it is inconvenient to carry, Jing Yu would also ask the servant to help him watch. He had already found that the house he lived in was the most expensive, and the servant was equivalent to serving him. In addition, the generous tips he gave to the servant run errands, it was natural for him to look at his room again.

When walking, he would occasionally encounter Gleason patrolling nearby or one or two days later, and then Jing Yu would talk to him about topics such as the weather that day. Of course, Jing Yu could also see that Gleason patrolman came here on purpose to meet him by chance, but he did not intend to expose it.

When the gas lights on the street lights came on, he went back to the hotel to take a shower. The weather in London was really bad. In addition to pollution, there were many rainy days, which made people feel uncomfortable.

It was still early to bedtime, so he would watch his phone under the gas lights in the room, play stand-alone games, and listen to music.

Playing with modern electronic devices under the dim gas lights always made him feel a strange feeling.

Of course, no one is curious about the rich foreigner in the hotel. After living for a long time, people often greet him. Jing Yu also responded politely but never talked much.

Some people even care about his loneliness. Some people told him that there is a booklet "Nightlife Guidance for the Metropolis" in the hotel, saying that this is the fastest way for foreigners to understand London. Of course, Jing Yu could roughly guess what it was written in just by listening to the name.

But he found an opportunity to read it, and it was exactly the same as what he thought.

As a guide book, it introduces readers to various London hospitals, casinos, drinking places, and clubs that can listen to music, which is very similar to the current travel guidance in hotels.

It also lists the age, appearance, personality and price of some special workers in detail.

It would be fine if Jing Yu looked at these things, but he didn't dare to take risks. After all, if you get sick in this era, don't expect bloodletting therapy to replace the effects of antibiotics.

This kind of life allowed Jing Yu to accumulate a lot of manuscripts, but he did not submit any of these manuscripts because his assistant had never found them, and there was not even anyone interested in this job and willing to send a letter.

It was not that the advertisement was not sent out. Jing Yu had already seen the message he sent in the subsequent newspaper, but unfortunately no one came to apply for the job.

So he could only continue to "storage manuscripts".

It was not until more than ten days later that Jing Yu was considering whether to advertise again, he finally received a letter.

"Mr. i.j. from the old oak hotel" was sent by the servant. The letter was well-written and had not been taken apart. The handwriting on it was very beautiful, at least much more beautiful than Jing Yu's English.

This was a good impression for Jing Yu. He opened the letter paper with an envelope knife and saw it, which read:

"Dear Mr. i.j., I saw the ad for an assistant written by you in the Herald the day before yesterday. I am interested in this position. I am twenty-one years old, have written training, and have worked as a journalist. I am currently unemployed and I am proficient in writing skills in English and can read and listen to Latin and French. You can visit you between November 23 and 25. If you really want, please reply to No. 83 Milkett Street, which William Glenn Ake received."

Seeing this letter, Jing Yu immediately wrote a reply, telling him that he was willing to communicate with the other party in person, and then told the other party that he could come that day if he had time on the 23rd.

Although I don’t know what happened to this reporter called “William Glenn Ake”, Jing Yu rarely encounters such an applicant and has no chance to pick and choose, so he can only let the other party come over.

After replying to the letter, Jing Yu felt much better. When he was walking in the evening, he happened to meet another patrolman Gleason again, so he happily greeted him.

"Sir", Gleason also said hello to him. The two of them chatted. Gleason asked during the chat: "Do you still remember the little thief who bit you?"

"Yes," Jing Yu was impressed by the child, "What's wrong?" he asked, "You must know that the bitten mark on his hand did not fade after several days.
