Can't sleep counting the stars

Xia Xiaobei was sitting in the passenger seat, with a crowded traffic outside the window, and the car was always stooping at rush hour. She felt suffocated, maybe it was because the heater in the car was too strong. She was a little dazed and wondered why she felt that way. There was a slight buzz in her ears, as if time was still passing by, and she could see them who were old many years later.

To grow old, this is never a word to describe them.

Ye Shaoqian was driving and probably noticed her discomfort. He thoughtfully turned off the air conditioner and asked her: "Don't feel comfortable? Do you want to open the window?"

She nodded, rolled the window apart, and the cold wind blew into the warm car, and the coolness penetrated into the lungs and spleen. She seemed to be awake instantly, looking for topics to relieve the awkward atmosphere in the car.

"I heard you went back to your father's company to help?"

She has been silent since she got in the car. He thought she would not speak anymore, but he couldn't help but be stunned, and then slowly replied: "It's not worth helping. The old man's property is managed by the second brother, so I'll meet the customer to have a meal or something."

Xia Xiaobei Smile. This job is quite suitable for him. He is the most refined in eating, drinking and having fun. He has a good alcohol tolerance, so their old man has a precise vision.

There was nothing to say along the way. When he arrived at Gumei Road, he greeted the guards in a familiar way, drove into the community, and parked downstairs of her house in a twist.

It was the rush hour after get off work that many white-collar workers in the community were hurriedly returning home. Ye Shaoqian's car was so eye-catching that many eyes floated over and discussed it all over the place.

Xia Xiaobei was silent for a while, unbuttoned his seat belt, and said to him: "Thank you, goodbye."

He pressed his hands on the steering wheel, still looking ahead, and replied to her lightly: "You're welcome, goodbye."

Xia Xiaobei walked out of the car with envious eyes, carried her bag, closed the car door, and walked into the corridor. A series of movements were natural. After four years of working, she could walk smoothly in seven-inch high heels, but her breathing became more and more rapid and heavy. After finally entering the corner, she finally took off her heavy burden and breathed heavily against the wall.

It’s not that she is not tired. No matter how much she restrains her heart, she always has feelings after getting along for four years. She slowed down and went upstairs in a daze. Perhaps because of taking antipyretics, she felt a thin layer of sweat on her back, which was cold under the fabric.

At night, she took a shower and was about to go to bed. When she glanced at the floor-to-ceiling curtains, she suddenly remembered something and walked two steps to the balcony. Sure enough, at the same location yesterday, a dark black Maybach was parked quietly, almost hiding into the night.

A wry smile appeared on her lips. Last night, she deeply realized what it felt like to wake up alone while the people in the community were sleeping in a quiet night, waiting for the dawn minute by minute.

She was wearing her pajamas after taking a shower, holding a bath towel she had just used to wipe her hair in her hand, and then lay on the balcony fence, looking at him in a daze.

He didn't know when tonight, but maybe he didn't leave after sending her back. At this moment, the headlights of the car were lit, and he leaned obliquely on the car door, not knowing what he was thinking.

Suddenly, he seemed to have some investigation. He raised his head through the dark night. Xia Xiaobei was so scared that he suddenly retracted. After a long time, he felt that he could not see him so far, so he laughed out loud.

On this night, it was another sleepless night. Ye Shaoqian had already driven the car habitually and sat downstairs in her house. Thinking of her sitting beside her during the day, her calm and gentle look, she felt inexplicably painful again.

She didn't care, she really didn't care. She was still talking and laughing with him calmly, as if the person who angrily slapped him and scolded him for being "shameless" more than a month ago was not her at all. The peace that she whitewas like this made him feel that she was far away from him. He would rather she quarrel with him than be ignored by her like this.

He took out a cigarette, gathered his hands in the gentle night wind, illuminated the fire, raised his eyes quietly, and looked at the floor where she was.

He kept watching this, and at night, the community was silent, and a long piece of ashes had accumulated at the top of the smoke. There were waves of cars galloping on the road not far away, and he couldn't help but sigh.

Xia Xiaobei, do you have a conscience?

At this moment, he heard Xia Xiaobei's voice: "It's so late, why don't you sleep?"

He was startled. The ashes had gathered too long. He almost burned his hands when he shook his head and turned his head to see that at the dark entrance of the corridor, she was standing there, wearing thin pajamas, smiling and looking at him.

At that moment, he really thought it was an illusion. Everything was so similar to four years ago. She was still so thin and stood in the cold wind, as if she was about to be blown away. Her hair was wet, and the air was filled with the fragrance that belonged only to her.

She walked towards him step by step, and his heart was so thrilled. When she stopped in front of him, he suddenly stood up straight and said without hesitation: "I can't sleep, so I come out to count the stars."

She couldn't help laughing, a hint of embarrassment flashed across his face, and turned his head to ask her, "Didn't you sleep?"

She looked worried: "I can't sleep either, so I came out to count the stars with you."

His face showed a child-like embarrassment, smiling foolishly, staring at her with his eyes tightly, as if light was flowing inside.

She smiled, tightened the collar of her pajamas, and asked him, "What about now? Do you want to continue counting the stars here or come up and sit?"

He locked the car very well, followed her quickly, and pretended to say, "You can count the stars in your house."

As soon as he entered the house, Ye Shaoqian glanced at the row of instant noodles on the food cabinet with sharp eyes and frowned. While she was going to make tea, he entered the kitchen and opened the refrigerator and saw that it was exactly the same as he thought, all of which were instant food.

He leaned on the refrigerator and watched her washing cups, picking up tea leaves, and busy figures, and couldn't help feeling distressed. He actually knew the best about how she got through these years. Like a hedgehog, he always deliberately circled himself and refused to help from others, regardless of whether it was good intentions.

"Xiaobei," he called her name.

"Huh?" Before she could turn around, she had already fallen into a warm embrace, and her misty eyes were full of surprise.

He put his chin in her neck, pressed against her delicate skin, took a deep breath, and after a long time, he spit out a few words: "I'm sorry."

She stiffened and stood there for him to hold her. After a while, she moved her arms and pushed him away.

"The water is about to cool down." She deliberately avoided his eyes and rushed into the cup. The tender yellow tea leaves were stirring up and down, rising and falling, just like her struggled heart at this moment.

He returned to the living room dejectedly, and Xia Xiaobei handed him a cup of tea, curled up on the sofa in the corner, sat face to face with him, and venting breath in front of the tea cup.

He glanced at her, looked down at the cup, and said, "I'm sorry."

She subconsciously clenched the edge of the cup, and heard him say again: "I thought she was you. I know I shouldn't..."

He paused and couldn't say it, but he was unwilling to give up. He drank the hot tea in one breath, and there was a hint of warmth on his pale face: "I liked people before, and knew what it was like. But no one has ever been able to come into me like you." He said, pointing to the position of his heart, "How do I treat you? I thought you always knew that people have hearts. Can't you even feel it? I don't hate you for rejecting me. As long as it is you, I can wait for as long as I can wait. But I can't stand you being by my side, but my heart went to another place. Xiaobei, I'm most afraid of you looking at me because I can't find myself in it!"

He finished speaking in one breath, as if he threw the teacup heavily on the table in annoyance.

Xia Xiaobei looked at him blankly, his lips stammering, but he didn't know what to say, so he had to shake his head slightly and bite the edge of the cup again.

He suddenly stood up, leaned over, and took off the cup in her hand: "Don't bite it, otherwise I'll be jealous of it."

She couldn't turn around for a moment, what did he say? Why did he be jealous of that cup?

Her questions drowned in his warm kiss.

"Xiaobei..." He kissed her softly, took away her hand in her chest as if she was on guard, called her name like a whisper, and whispered in her ear: "I am willing to wait, but do you have to give me a chance? Just once, believe me, and believe yourself..."
