Chapter 61: Substitute appearance

After losing the opening game, the team flew to the Big Apple City to challenge the New York Knicks.

Since the "Smiling Assassin" Isaiah Thomas entered the management team, New York has been in a dark reconstruction, with a winning rate of less than 50% for seven consecutive seasons.

At the beginning of the season, New York traded from Portland to Zach Randolph, hoping to return to the playoffs, but most people are still not optimistic about the Knicks' future this season because their lineup is really deformed.

Two inside players, Zach Randolph and Eddie Curry, have no ability to protect the frame at all. Both backcourt players Stephen Marbury and Jamal Crawford are considered to be very unique in playing, and starting small forward Quentin Richardson is the only player on the team who can defend.

Timberwolves head coach Whitman has prepared this game very seriously because of this. The Timberwolves are destined not to win too many games this season, and there are not many opportunities to encounter such soft persimmons.

Unexpectedly, the Knicks team on the opposite side also prepared for this game with this idea, playing very seriously.

The Timberwolves took the initiative in the first quarter, winning 7 points, and the Knicks made a substitute in the second quarter, David Lee and Nate Robinson scored 11 points together to help the team overtake the score.

After halftime, the Timberwolves fell behind their opponent by 50-54.

The offense and defense of both sides were "smart" in the second half. Two New York defenders Marbury and Crawford joined forces with the Timberwolves defenders Terfire and McCantz to contribute to people a wonderful "blind J8 fight" battle.

Li Rong, who was sitting off the court, once suspected that he actually lived in an electronic game, and the two players who were operating this game behind the scenes obviously cut off the pass keys.

However, at least from the scene, this "vegetarian chickens pecking" game was still very anxious, and the two teams did not decide the winner until the last minute.

In the end, the Timberwolves lost regretfully and lost to their opponents by 4 points. Li Rong still did not get playing time in this game.

The Timberwolves, who returned to home, immediately faced the challenge of the Orlando Magic. In this game, "Warcraft" Howard showed his dominance at the basket, scoring a large double-double of 28 points and 16 rebounds.

Al Jefferson scored a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, but he didn't have many ways to face Howard most of the time on the defensive end.

In order to stop Howard, the Timberwolves team did not hesitate to use the "shark-cutting tactic". The team received a total of 30 fouls. Both inside players, Jefferson and Ratliff, had five fouls on their backs before the end of the game.

However, Howard was very powerful in the free throw line in this game, making 12 of 16 free throws, leading the Magic to easily defeat the Timberwolves with a score of 111 to 103.

In this game, Li Rong made his career debut, replacing Brewer, who had left the field with 6 fouls in the last ten seconds.

The only task he had on the court was to wait for the time to finish, and he didn't even see what the ball was like.

The Timberwolves, who lost three consecutive times, immediately went to Staps to challenge the Los Angeles Lakers, but was easily defeated by Kobe, who scored 30 points.

The Timberwolves, who lost four consecutive times at the beginning of the season, wanted to find some things back to the Sacramento Kings with a record of 1 win and 4 losses, but unexpectedly it was another failure.

So far, the Timberwolves lost five consecutive games at the beginning and have not won a single game so far.

The team returning to Minnesota has three days off. The team only arranged one training session in these three days, and then played against the Kings again at home.

After the training, Li Rong stayed to practice more as usual.

"Boy! No matter how hard he works, it's useless. It's still a matter of life. " Walker laughed mercilessly before leaving.

Li Rong didn't even pay attention to him. If nothing unexpected happens, he should get some opportunities in the next game. He must seize this opportunity and win the trust of the coach.

Sure enough, just two minutes after the second quarter of the home game against the Kings, head coach Whitman called Li Rong's name.

He has had enough of Walker's endless waves of three-pointers on the offensive end and his terrible defense. Whether playing in the third or fourth position, Walker's defense is not enough to cause any interference to the opponent.

Originally, it was supposed to be Brewer at this time, but the small forward on the opposite side was the strong and famous Ron Artest. Whitman didn't want to see Anthony see Brewer bullied by Artest again in the opening game like a back shot.

In fact, he was even more worried about Li Rong on the defensive end. The scout report clearly stated about his defense: "For mediocre physical fitness, don't expect him to make too much contribution on the defensive end."

Whitman sent Li Rong to the main purpose of his shot, after all, this is his selling point in the draft, and judging from training camp and several preseason games in limited appearances, his shooting rhythm is pretty good.

However, he was afraid that Li Rong would be eager to show himself after he came on the court, so he reminded him: "Li, don't rush to attack after he came on the court, pass more balls, and... well... do a good job of defense."

"Okay, coach!" Li Rong took off his training suit, stretched a few times, and then walked to the field.

"Why did you send a yellow man to the court? Now that's over, he's facing Artest!" A fan sitting in the front row screamed.

As soon as Garnett left, the audience at the Target Center was actually "Buddha" about the record this season, but when Whitman sent Li Rong, he couldn't help but complain.

Even if you want to die, you have to die with a little dignity. At least you can send a player who can go up and take two blows.

What does it mean to get on a yellow man who looks weak?

Although Timberwolves fans knew that the team had signed a yellow man this season, they saw his draft pick and didn't even make the first round, and they thought they were signing for the mascot to see the water dispenser. Unexpectedly, Whitman really dared to send him on the court.

In the first Timberwolves offensive round, Li Rong didn't touch the ball at all, but just stayed at the 45-degree angle on the weak side to open the low space for Al Jefferson, who had just changed into the field.

Jefferson faced the Kings' white center Brad Miller, who was once a very useful support center in Adelman's Princeton offensive system.

As he got older, his role on the defensive end gradually declined, but on the offensive end, he was able to shoot three-pointers and still got a stable starting time.

Jefferson played extremely easily against Miller's defense. He scored seven points in the first quarter, and as soon as the second quarter came, he had to go to the ball and chose to force the opponent to take the ball at a low post again.

However, the ball was not very lucky. It hit the inside edge of the basket and popped out of the cylinder. The rebound was taken away by Miller and then passed the ball to his own point guard Benno Youdry.
