Chapter 4: The Wicked Rich Man
“This is my weekend class.”
Herak looked at Sterlingford in shock, and then looked at the two-hour weekend course schedule written in his hand. The course that would not end until the beginning of the year was 1996. He felt a little numb.
"Yes, I hired a personal tutor."
Sterlingford had no reaction to his son's shock. He took a sip of coffee, leaned against the sofa, and said with no refusal: "In a few days, you will go to Burbank to serve as the chairman of Lianmei Film Company. You don't have time to go to school. Since you don't plan to go to college, I will hire three private university teachers in Burbank, Los Angeles to teach you the courses to avoid your knowledge courses falling."
Hearing this, Herac thrust his face and knew that he had no reason to refuse. Sterlingford was very strict in teaching knowledge. He could not reveal his familiar knowledge about Hollywood. He could only agree to the course plan in his hand. Thinking of United Film Company, he bargained: "If there is anything about the company on the weekend, can I ask for leave from the teachers?"
"Can."
Seeing that Herac did not perfunctory, Sterlingford agreed to Herac in a second-hand manner, and then pointed at the equity transfer contract of Lianmei Film Company: "When you go to Burbank, I will organize an assistant team to follow you into Lianmei Film Company to help you."
Herak was shocked and said happily, "Father, thank you so much."
With the assistant team organized by Letu Holdings, this is better than Herak's interviews one by one.
After chatting with Sterlingford about some family topics, Herak got up and carefully locked the equity transfer contract of United American Film Company into Sterlingford's password box, which he kept, and turned around and went out to find Robert Duval. He did not forget that he had something to look for him.
Looking at Herak who was out, Sterlingford was considering who to be the assistant team leader. He sat in a chair and turned around. Seeing Jin Jianfu who was packing the documents, a gleam flashed in his mind and asked, "Jianfu, how long have you been an assistant to the chairman of the company?"
Although Jin Jianfu was a little surprised why the chairman asked this, he still said as he said: "It's been three years."
"Three years, it's not too short." Sterlingford made a decision in his heart when he heard this. The words surprised Jin Jianfu a little, "You will be the assistant team leader of Herac!"
Jin Jianfu looked at the chairman with a dazed look and decided where he was going. He felt a little resistant. Although Herakford was a little moved, she was still young after all. How could he manage to come to Lianmei Film Company? But he still felt that it was more promising in Letu's holding company. He opened his mouth and wanted to speak but stopped.
Seeing that Kim Jane Fu had a big slander, Sterlingford did not stop her, but said, "Say something!"
Jin Jianfu took a deep breath and asked directly what he kept lingering in his heart when Sterlingford handed over the equity transfer contract of United American Film Company to Herac, "Chairman, you just handed it to Master Herac so safely, aren't you afraid that United American will lose money?"
Ha ha…
Sterlingford thought his assistant would ask what he said, but he was worried that Herac would mess up the United States like those consortium's interdependence disciples. He showed pride on his face and smiled with a shaking smile: "You can see that Herac failed the task I handed over to him in the past three years since you came to the company."
Jin Jianfu was stunned by a reversal question from Sterlingford, and suddenly remembered the Herac he had seen in the past three years.
As one of Sterlingford's assistants, Jin Jianfu often or from other assistants can tell from other assistants that Herac can complete the task assigned to him by the chairman every time. He heard that he had been intern at Warner Studios for four years.
Thinking of this, Jin Jianfu's face turned red, and he looked down on Herac with a little shame in his heart, and said, "But the chairman, that is the United American Film Company with a total of 120 million US dollars, so it was handed over to Master Herac so simply...
Kim Jianfu didn't say the following words. Sterlingford already understood what he meant. He said willfully with confidence, "He is my son."
A simple and crude sentence made Jin Jianfu twitch the corner of his mouth, and he felt heartbroken in his heart, "Evil rich man," holding the documents she wanted to deal with, and said helplessly: "Chairman, I will follow what you said and help Master Herac handle his trivial matters." He turned around and walked out of the chairman's office. When passing the conference room opened by the door, he saw Herac and Robert Duval sitting and talking about things, and looked at Herac with a resentful look.
Herac didn't know that such a strong look was difficult. He turned his head and saw the beautiful assistant looking at him with a strange resentful face. This was his most intuitive feeling, and he looked at her with confusion.
"snort!"
Jin Jianfu snorted coldly, straightened his chest, and held the documents in his hand away from the conference room.
Herak touched his nose in confusion, turned his head to look at Robert Dewar, and said directly: "I want to sign you into an artist under my company."
Robert Duval was surprised that Herac valued him so much, but he was not as excited as he imagined. He immediately agreed and pondered: "You can become your artist, I have a condition."
"you say!"
Herac did not refuse and raised his hand and said:
Robert Dewar quickly put forward his own terms, "I hope I can find a broker for me."
With such a simple condition, Herak readily agreed that he would directly sign a contract with the film company without entering the agency, so he naturally had to help him find an agent to sign him. The reason for signing him was that Robert Duval was his fighting coach and his acting malleable potential, and on the other hand, it was also one of the plans of Herak's future agency.
What will happen in the future depends on Robert Duval's own choice in the future.
The two reached an agreement that Herak and Robert Duval separated at the company's door and returned to Manhattan's Fifth Street, picking up by the driver, a villa bought by Sterlingford.
Walking into the living room, Herac saw a document placed on the conspicuous desktop.
"Letu Firm Analysis Report."
Herac picked up the file, looked at the words on it and felt moved. He opened the folder and looked through the report analyzed by Letu employees.
After looking through pages, Herak's expression became a little serious. The analyst made all the affairs of United Film Company clear and focused on both good and bad.
It turns out that since the change of ownership in the mid-1950s, Lianmei Film Company only made money by publishing and producing a few movies, while the rest were in box office failures. It was not until the box office success of the first and second movies in 2007, plus the cost of videotapes and commercial advertising implantation that they barely allowed Lianmei Film to earn money.
However, according to the analysis team of Letu, the second change of ownership, the new chairman Patton brought two loss-making TV stations. The revenue of the 007 series could not help the operation of Lianmei and the two TV stations. The TV stations that continued to lose $1 million were largely relied on the revenue of the 007 series to operate, which also led to the lower cost of Lianmei's film production and the failure of the box office, which made Mr. Patton unable to see a future of making money, so he was acquired by Sterling Ford.
From the analysis, it can be seen that from 1961 to the beginning of 1965, the only one 007 film made a profit, and most of the art films released only bring the company the trophy and the halo of fame.
For a film company, it is useless to have a reputation and have no money to earn. Herac curled his lips, solemnly put the analysis report, and began to plan the future development of Lianmei Film Company.
