Volume 7 Epilogue (3)
"Hey, he's such a lunatic." Shujah laughed disdainfully. Then, he turned his head and looked at Yezidzad and said, "How about we report it to the church and let them deal with it?"
"Church? How could I be afraid of that church?"
As he said that, the man turned around and walked outside the shed, raising his arms to the dozen or so believers who were surrounding him:
"The church today is a group of extremely stupid people who only know to keep the scriptures and explain them word by word. Little do they know that the scriptures are not eternal with God! Many priests want to refute my words, but just think about it and know that God's existence must precede its words to us. Since that's the case, how can we talk about "eternal presence"? Since it is not eternal presence, how can we be sure that it is still with God now? Brothers and sisters, our church has gone into a lost path, and God has just dreamed of me! The Son of God is coming back, wait, all this will be changed!"
It seemed to be touched by the speech of the man, and the believers opened their arms and shouted the name of God. This reaction further inspired the man, but saw him step back on the stone and shouted in a louder voice:
"I am the pioneer of the Son of God, the seventh great prophet, 'Elijah the Baptist'! At this moment, I ask God to show his miracles and prove it to me!"
A disciple-like man brought a pot of oil up, and the man took the pot of oil over and poured it on his head without saying a word. Then, the second disciple lit a torch and threw it at the man's body!
In the blink of an eye, a raging fire broke out on the man!
The crowd of onlookers made a burst of exclamations, and Shujah and Yezidzad in the tent sat upright and stared at the scene in front of them. However, the fire became more and more intense, rolling all the man's whole body, including the branches in his hand and the leaves covering his body, into it. The burning smell spread, and a thick stream of black smoke rose from the man's body.
However, the man still gave a speech in the fire unmoved:
"Fire can burn sinners, but it cannot burn righteous people; it can burn mortals, but it cannot burn saints. This is the blessing God has given me. God loves me, so that I can't get into swords and guns, and water and fire are not invaded!"
After saying that, he pouted and blew a light breath. In a flash, the fire that burned his whole body was extinguished. Although the leaves that blocked his body had been burned out, his naked body, from head to toe, was completely unharmed.
"Wow," Shujah said softly, "I'm really capable."
"It is because of this that the church here is unable to make up his mind and report to Isfahan." Yezidzad sighed, "I don't know when Isfahan will send a priest to deal with this matter."
"I'm afraid I won't be here for a while," Shujah said, shaking his head, "The church has been very busy lately. It's not just about finding the resurrected Son of God, but just dealing with the matter of Gregory, the 'evil', has made them anxious when I heard it."
As soon as he finished speaking, a shrill cry suddenly came from outside the tent:
"Mr. Elijah the Baptist! Please save me! Save me!"
The source of the sound was a woman in her thirties. She staggered towards this side, and not far behind her, dozens of soldiers were chasing behind her. The woman hurriedly rushed to the stone, regardless of the man being naked, and reached out to hug the man's heels: "Sir, they all said I am a witch and wanted to capture me back and be stolen. But I am just doing some herbal research at home alone! Sir, save me! Be sure to save me!"
The soldiers seemed to recognize the man, stopped from afar, and shouted to the side, "'Elijah the Baptist'! Do you want to interfere in this matter again?"
The man waved his hand and signaled his believers and the woman to hide behind him. Then, he asked the soldiers in a deep voice: "What crime did this woman commit?"
"She is a witch! She has been living alone alone for many years. Recently, someone has witnessed her using mice to make potions and then poisoning the well. The next day, the Black Death appeared in the tribe!"
"I just died early." The woman wiped her tears cryingly, "I was just catching mice, fetching water, the Black Death, etc., it really doesn't matter to me!"
"'Elijah the Baptist', I remind you that you do not have the power to judge!" a soldier shouted from a distance, "If you shelter the criminals, even if the priests of Isfahan have not yet arrived, we will put you in prison!"
"Sir, sir!" The woman cried while hugging the man's legs tighter. "I didn't lie, don't let them take me away!"
"Catch people!"
The soldiers drew out scimitars one after another. The believers behind the man were so scared that they fled one after another, leaving only the man standing on the stone.
Face face, he looked at the soldiers approaching here with a hideous look, and a few thick laughs came from the man's throat.
"Don't be afraid, woman, whether you are guilty, God will make the most just judgment."
As he said that, he bent down and drew a symbol on the woman's forehead with his fingers.
"God has watched you, now, go back with them first. Trust me, if you are not a sinner, the cell will be open to you tonight."
The woman was stunned for a moment. In this moment, the group of soldiers came up and dragged her away forcibly.
There was a jingle of copper plates from the tent. The traveler in a camel sweater stood up and settled the tent and left on his own.
"Wait a minute—Eno—wait a minute—!"
The man who claimed to be "Elijah the Baptist" chased after him from behind. Enoch turned his head and looked at him with a cold look.

"Eno! As soon as I see you, I know that you are not an ordinary person. I guess you are protected by God like me and can use the power of magic, right?"
"...So what, so what, no?" Eno asked coldly.
"In the Tianfang Empire, people like you and me will only be considered heretics no matter where they go. But you know that we are the real ones favored by God."
As he said that, the man looked around again, then put his mouth to Enoch's ear and whispered:
"Let's join forces to rescue the poor woman who was framed, and then kill the local snake who violates the doctrine and gives us usury. How about it? In this world where rituals and music are broken, God gives us magic to reorganize the world!"
Enoch laughed gloomyly.
"Bahadel—You never leave God, do you know that the sin you have committed is much greater than that of the lender Jezidzadeh?"
The words "Bahadel" made the man's eyes widen. He took several steps in fear to stay away from the man who called himself "Eno":
"You...how did you know my real name?"
"There is a saying that you are right. Fire can burn sinners, but it can burn righteous people; it can burn mortals, but it can burn saints." Eno turned around and looked at the man with his eyes staring at the ant: "So, to prove that you are a saint-let me try it, can you block God's fire, right?"
That night, the local church had a fire in the cell where the "witch" was imprisoned. When people put out the fire, the bodies inside had turned into coke, and even men and women could not tell whether they were men or women.
And "Elijah the Baptist" never appeared before people's eyes again.
The shed was still there, hosting the passing travelers. You can still see Yezidzade in the shed at three or four o'clock every afternoon. He was wearing an expensive yellow robe and a red felt hat, lying comfortably on the chair, and a young maid fanned her.
