Chapter 294 Midnight Ghosts

Tan Lan took two servants into the antique shop at this time. The owner was an elder over fifty years old named Gujie. He subconsciously frowned the moment he saw Tan Lan. Obviously, he felt that trouble was coming. Although he was very unhappy, he still had to maintain respect in his words.

"Tan Dadar is here, and the shop is so bright. I don't know what treasures Tan Dadar needs. The younger one can recommend it to you." Gu Jie said respectfully.

"No need, I'll choose myself." Tan Lan refused.

"Okay, just choose. The treasures in our small shop are all treasures, and the prices are fair, so you are guaranteed to be satisfied." Gu Jie said with a standard hospitality smile on his face.

Tan Lan ignored Gu Jie, but ordered two servants to stay aside, and he chose from the store.

Just two weeks ago, Tan Lan's wife suddenly fell ill. Tan Lan invited famous doctors in the city to treat her, but there was no sign of improvement. Her condition was getting worse and she passed away within three days.

Tan Lan never treated her well before her death. She often called and drank, beat and scolded her, venting her negative emotions on her wife. But her wife was frightened by his tyranny and always timid and did not dare to make any moves of resistance. Now that her wife has passed away, Tan Lan suddenly feels very regretful and thinks that she really owe her a lot.

Don’t do bad things, don’t be afraid of ghosts calling.

But Tan Lan was obviously not so open-minded. Since his wife passed away, whenever Tan Lan was alone in the room where the couple lived together, an endless sense of fear would rise from his heart. Soon after, he began to see his wife in his sleep. In his dream, his wife was dressed in white, with hair disheveled, and her body floated in the air, slowly approaching him. Tan Lan was so scared that she was shattered in her dream. He ran back quickly, but found that it was impossible to throw her wife away no matter what. He shouted for help, but no one paid attention to it. His wife had already quietly come to his back, stretching out her pale and slender hands with sharp nails and pinching Tan Lan's neck hard.

"Ah!" A heart-wrenching cry suddenly came from Tan Lan's mouth, which immediately alarmed the servants who were sleeping. A servant closest to the master's room did not care about suspicion and the courtesy of the superiors and inferiors, rushed straight into Tan Lan's room. He wanted to find out the situation around the master and ensure that the master was safe and sound.

Tan Lan was still in shock, but she realized that everything she had just experienced was just a nightmare. When he found that the servant broke into his room, he did not blame him for the first time, but told the servant the truth so that he did not have to worry. He obviously understood that the servant was so anxious to break in because he was worried about his safety.

But such a terrifying experience did not end there. A "resentment" tangled in his heart kept following him. Every night his soul would be trapped into the almost identical dream. He was tortured by his wife's ghostly ghost again and again, as if the hatred would never end.

After being awakened from his dream three times in a row, he knew that he could no longer "sit and wait for death" and could not let his wife's resentful spirit to torture him repeatedly. So he began to find ways to get rid of evil spirits. At first, he decided to sleep in the study. After finding that it was useless, he bought many scriptures of sages and placed them in the room, but they still didn't work.

Later, Tan Lan even invited monks and Taoist priests to do rituals at home, but still failed to make the nightmare far away from him. Every night, his wife's figure would appear in the dream on time.

Tan Lan now feels that his spirit may collapse at any time and become a heartless madman who cannot control his emotions. He knows that he can no longer be tortured like this, otherwise the end will definitely be unimaginable. But he can no longer find any effective method, and he has done all the attempts, but it will be useless.

One day, while Tan Lan was chatting with several merchants, he suddenly heard one of them mentioning that there seemed to be a mysterious treasure in an old antique shop in the west of the city that could ward off evil spirits, but no one was lucky enough to see it. The shopkeeper seemed to hide the treasure very deeply and did not give anyone the opportunity to touch it, which made the object even more extraordinary.

Upon hearing this news, Tan Lan was immediately ecstatic, as if she had a glimmer of light in the endless darkness. He seemed to have a premonition that as long as he got the evil-proof treasure, he would be able to escape the trouble of nightmare forever.

This is why he came to this antique shop today. He was determined to win the treasure of evil-proofing, as if it was the last straw he could catch.

Tan Lan walked around the store, but did not find any unique treasures at all. The store was filled with some glass, amber, jade and porcelain, which was no different from ordinary antique shops.

Tan Lan was unwilling to waste time searching carefully, and asked Gu Jie directly, "I heard from others that there is a treasure in your store that can ward off evil spirits, right?"

"There is indeed there, but that is our private collection and will not be sold to the outside world." Gu Jie replied sincerely.

"There is no antique businessman in this world that can throw treasures into his own hands. Even if you say the price, I don't mind if it's more expensive. As long as it's within the range I can bear, I urgently need that treasure to drive away the evil spirits in the house." Tan Lan hoped to put the treasure in his pocket earlier, so he didn't care about the price at all. Even if it was so expensive, he could accept it now.

But the next sentence Gujie said made Tan Lan feel that they were very ungrateful.

"I have explained to you that we will never sell the treasure. Even if you offer all the property, we will not sell it. I hope you can understand it."

"What if I have to buy it today?" A hint of anger appeared in Tan Lan's eyes.

"Tan Dadang, there is no business of forced buying and selling in this world. Please respect yourself." Gu Jie warned in a deep voice.

"It seems that you are going to toast or not today." A fierce light flashed in Tan Lan's eyes and said sinisterly.

Gu Jie was not impressed by Tan Lan's sinister expression, and still said calmly, "This treasure is actually not in the store at all. How should Tan Dadang buy it? Could it be that he wants to buy a handful of air and go back?"

"Hmph, don't think that everyone is a fool and can deceive you at will. I've long discovered that there is a secret door in your store leading to the back. I wonder how you want to explain the function of this secret door?"

"It's where the shop's shop rests. Where can there be any treasure hidden? Tan Dadang is really good at joking." Gu Jie responded hurriedly.

But Gu Jie's slightly flickering eyes completely betrayed him, allowing Tan Lan to further confirm that behind the secret door was indeed the treasure.

"I advise

You should not be silly, take out the treasure as soon as possible, and you can pay the price casually, I won’t care.” Tan Lan gave Gu Jie a last chance.

But Gu Jie obviously could not let Tan Lan's greed succeed, and he firmly refused, "Impossible, you should not be foolish. If you need treasures that can ward off evil spirits, you can search for other antique shops. We really don't have the things that Tan Dazhan needs here, so please forgive me."

"It seems you have to force me to break through. Since you are so unreasonable, don't blame me for being rude."

Tan Lan made a "up" gesture to the two servants behind her and pointed out the location of the secret door. The two of them immediately understood and immediately rushed towards the secret door.

Gu Jie was shocked when he saw this, hurriedly blocked the two servants and shouted in a deep voice, "What do you want to do? This is simply a shameless way. Do you know that if you want to go to jail if you force yourself to break into a private house like this?"

"Haha, Wang Fa? Do you think that saying the word "wang Fa" can calm me down? I'm so old but still so naive. It's rare, rare. I advise you to dodge quickly, otherwise you will inevitably suffer from physical pain." Tan Lan said with a ferocious expression.

"Do you still want to beat me? The Tan Dazhan doesn't want to be a household name bully, and he is notorious." Gu Jie obviously didn't believe that Tan Lan would attack him.

Seeing that Gu Jie was standing firmly in front of the secret door, motionless without any sign of getting out of the way, Tan Lan's anger that had been suppressed for a long time finally burst out at this moment.

Tan Lan originally didn't want to cause trouble and destroy his "gentleman" image as always. But now he is almost driven crazy by entangled nightmares. If he can't get this treasure to ward off evil spirits today, he doesn't know if his already very fragile spirit can survive the next nightmare intrusion. Therefore, no matter what consequences his impulse today will cause, he will not care. He has already thrown everything behind him.

"Blow me hard!" Tan Lan gave orders to the two servants, his tone full of anger.

These two servants knew that it was inappropriate to attack the elder, but they did not dare to disobey Tan Lan's orders. So they rushed forward and kicked Gu Jie down, and then fisted and kicked him together.

Although this punch and kick seemed very cruel, neither servant actually used any force, for fear that the blame would fall on him after the death. Even so, the elderly shop owner was seriously injured. He could not raise his strength for a moment and could not get up from the ground.

"Well done, I want to see how precious this treasure is, and he is so desperately protected."

Tan Lan immediately took two servants to the secret door. When she passed by Gu Jie, she still "hummed" and mocked her, "I'll ask for trouble."

Tan Lan pushed open the secret door, but found that there was an aisle behind the store, and at the end there was a secret room. There were two young men guarding the door of the room, which obviously proved that the treasure was placed in this room.

When the two men saw someone suddenly broke in through the secret door, they immediately raised their vigilance. One of them asked in a deep voice, "How did you come in? No foreign guests are welcome here, so I advise you to return the same way."

"Haha, how do you think I came in?" Tan Lan immediately smiled unscrupulously when she heard this.
