…
Dave took the initiative to say hello, "Officer Luke, good morning."
"How is your recovery going?"
"It's okay. I'm here to take notes. By the way, I want to ask about the progress of the case. Have you caught the bastard?"
"There is no clue about Steven yet." Luke responded and looked at the white BMW, "Have you changed cars?"
"This car has been driven for several years. Most of the time it was kept in the garage. The Mercedes-Benz was still at the police station, so I changed into this car."
"I've always wanted to buy a car. How does this car drive?"
"Not bad, four-wheel drive, good visibility, and very comfortable space. Want to try it?" Dave took out the car keys.
"Forget it, the car is a good car, but it's beyond my budget." Luke sighed softly and said to Marcus beside him, "You lead Mr. Dave to take notes."
"Why don't you go?" Marcus was a little dissatisfied.
"I need to call my girl, are there any questions?"
Marcus winked, "Do you accept my challenge?"
"Don't keep Lawyer Dave waiting, go." Luke waved the two of them away.
After watching the two of them go to the police building, Luke walked to the BMW to check it carefully and took a photo of the rear of the BMW.
Then he dialed Susan's number and asked, "Captain, is it convenient for you to speak?"
"I just sent Mr. and Mrs. White away, now I'm alone, let's talk."
"I just discovered a situation that may be related to the Taser robbery, but this is just my guess and there is no clear evidence."
"Where are you?"
"Downstairs in the detective station."
"Why don't you come up and tell me?"
"This situation may be related to lawyer Dave. He just went upstairs to take notes."
"Wait for me for five minutes."
"OK."
…
A few minutes later, Susan came downstairs.
Seeing no one around, Susan handed Luke a cigarette and asked, "What's the problem Dave?"
Luke pointed to the parking space not far away, "Tony Weir's homeless friend said that a rich man often visits Tony. This man wears suits and ties, and his car is a white BMW X5.
Dave just drove a BMW X5, and it was his own car."
Susan frowned slightly, "Assuming your inference is correct, Dave is not only Steven's lawyer, but also knows Tony Weir. What role does he play in this case?"
Luke analyzed, "The first possibility is that Dave has nothing to do with this case, but just happens to know these two people. The fact that the two suspects have a common acquaintance does not mean that this acquaintance is the suspect.
The second possibility is that Dave is their accomplice.
So the previous scene where Dave was kidnapped by Steven may have been directed and acted by the two of them, which also explains why Steven did not kill anyone but just put Dave in the trunk to fend for himself."
Susan was more inclined to the second possibility and asked, "Dave is a lawyer. He has money, status, and status. Why would he do this?"
Luke thought for a while, "Could there be something in Steven's hands? Or maybe there is some special relationship between the three of them."
Susan walked to the white BMW X5 and said, "There are at least hundreds of cars of the same model in Los Angeles. This alone cannot prove that he is related to the 'Taser Robbery'."
Luke suggested, "We can investigate privately and continue to look for evidence."
The police have been looking for Tony and Steven, but have never found any trace of them, and there is no clue about Alyssa.
But Dave is right in front of him. As long as he is found to be related to the case, he can follow the clues to find other suspects.
Susan agreed to Luke's plan, and the two returned to the Robbery and Murder Department as if nothing had happened.
In order to avoid being alerted by Dave, Luke did not test Dave again and sat on his desk to check the information diligently.
An hour later, Dave finished taking notes and left, and Susan called everyone together for a meeting.
Luke expressed his speculation.
Everyone was a little surprised after hearing this.
"Wow, the pants-peeing lawyer became the final boss. I like your idea." Marcus smiled, then frowned.
"But one thing I can't figure out is that we rescued him in the Gobi that day. If we hadn't found the Mercedes-Benz, he would probably have been trapped and died in the trunk."
Luke guessed, "He may have locked the trunk after hearing the rescue vehicle."
"His hands were cuffed behind his back. This position was difficult to achieve."
Luke continued, "Handcuffs are different from tape. Dave can cuff himself. He can just close the trunk and then put the handcuffs on."
Marcus was stunned for two seconds, "That seems to be the case, so we were all deceived by this bastard."
According to the analysis of the deputy team, "He used the little trick of peeing his pants to successfully divert attention and make the police lower their vigilance against him. When people were laughing at him for peeing his pants, he had succeeded."
Marcus was very depressed, but fortunately he could not see the embarrassment in his dark face, "I hate lawyers, they are all a bunch of liars."
"Since everyone agrees with Luke's conjecture, the focus of the next investigation will be on Dave and finding evidence related to him and the case." Susan set the tone and directly assigned the task.
"Matthew, collect all the information on Dave.
Raymond, tracked the white BMW X5 through road surveillance.
Marcus, Jenny contacted BMW. I want the recent driving records of the BMW.
Luke, David went to the bank to investigate the flow of Dave's large sums of money."
"Yes, captain."
Finally, Susan warned, "Everyone should be smart. If Dave finds out that we are investigating him, not only will he alert us, but he will also sue us to death."
The deputy captain smiled and said, "Captain, you have changed.
But, I like it."
…
Suburbs of Los Angeles.
A dimly lit basement.
A woman with long blond hair was huddled in the corner, and the wall lamp illuminated her side face. She had a pitiful beauty, which made people want to protect her.
"Creak..." First there was the sound of opening the door.
"Da da..." I remembered the sound of footsteps again.
"Nonono..." Alyssa held her hands in front of her, her long legs trembling uncontrollably, and a tear slipped from the corner of her eye.
"Creak..." There was another sound of opening the door.
"Alyssa, I'm back. I bought your favorite dessert." The man stood at the door, holding an exquisite cake box in his left hand.
The man put the box aside and put on his slippers, his movements were casual, like a husband returning home from get off work.
"Alyssa, do you want to eat now? Or I can chat with you for a while."
Alyssa raised her head and mustered up her courage, "Dave, why are you doing this? Are you going to kill me?"
Dave walked to the bed, knelt down, and said in a gentle tone, "I have never had such an idea. Alyssa, I love you. As long as you don't do anything stupid, I will never hurt you."
"What do you want? Lock me up for the rest of my life? Is this what you call love?"
"No, you are not calm yet. When you calm down, we can re-plan our lives. Change places, change identities, and live the life we want."
"Are you crazy? This is impossible. The police are probably looking for me, and if they get caught, you will go to jail.
If you let me go now, I can pretend nothing happened."
Dave smiled, "Alyssa, you are already dead. The top brass of the police department will not waste too much money on dead people. At most, the police will not look for you again for half a month. I know them too well."
"Why did the police think I was dead?"
"It's just a little trick."
"Even if the police don't look for me, Steven will not give up."
"Comon, forget about Steven.
He took $40,000 from me and ran away, probably somewhere in Mexico having a good time.
He doesn't care about you at all."
