The route chosen by Li Shenxing is the French Road. The French Road is the most classic and popular pilgrimage route. It sets out from Saint Jean Pied de Port, a small town in southern France, crosses the Pyrenees and goes into Spain, and finally arrives at Santiago de Compostela. It is 779 kilometers in total. It takes 34 days to complete the official walking route.

The Bordeaux area has many beautiful and well-preserved medieval castles. Its urban planning has a long history and colorful architectural style, and is famous all over the world. Its classical and neoclassical buildings have followed the long history of more than two centuries and have never stopped. There are more than 350 buildings in Bordeaux listed as historical monuments, including three religious buildings. In 1998, it was listed on the World Heritage List with the theme of Saint-Jacques' pilgrimage path.

But if you equate it with wine when you mention Bordeaux, you are very wrong. Although Bordeaux is the hometown of many big brands of red wine, its delicious snacks cannot be ignored.

Charlotte duck has the title of the first place in the three must-eat delicacies for traveling in Bordeaux. There are two ways to eat it, one is the original flavor, and the other is the soup with honey. Li Shenxing tried both methods. In comparison, he felt that the duck with soup was more tender. However, because Bordeaux is just a transfer site in Li Shenxing's plan, he could only stop for a while and have to take the train to Santiago de Compostela, so he was unable to taste more food or appreciate the ancient buildings. The French valleys, pastures and farmlands that the train passed along were as beautiful as a wonderland. In a few hours, the bus arrived at the SJPP station, and the sun shone on the town in the entire valley. The weather was perfect and the mood was great.

After arriving at SJPP, Li Shenxing followed other pilgrims to apply for a pilgrim passport, which is something that proves the identity of a pilgrim. The nature of the pilgrim passport was the same as Tang Monk's passport and the passport of a country that Tang Monk had to change his passport every time he passed through.

Whenever pilgrims go to a small town or village, they can stamp their exclusive seal in restaurants, shelters, churches, etc., among which the seals of the church are the best.

The Pilgrim shell is an ancient and unchanging signpost on this pilgrimage road, and it is also an eternal token and amulet for the pilgrimage. Just follow the shell signs on the ground or stone tablets to continue along the road.

The yellow arrow sign? is an arrow specially used to indicate the direction of the pilgrimage road in San Diego. It will appear along the way in stone tablets, street signs, trees, walls, etc. Some are simple yellow arrows; some are simplified patterns of shells, with divergent lines, which also means "all pilgrimage roads lead to San Diego". The logo may sometimes be red.

Arrows and shell signs appear very frequently on the road to France, so don't worry about getting lost.

Previously, Li Shenxing read the guide and said that the office would ask every pilgrimage a question: Why did you come to San Diego to make a pilgrimage? For him, who has been rigorously preparing every question asked by others since childhood, he has figured out various answers in advance.

However... this sacred scene did not happen, and Li Shenxing felt a little disappointed.

After providing my passport, an elegant French old lady registered my name, passport number, nationality, address and other personal information, and then stamped the first seal on the first page of the Pilgrim Pass.

Of course, Li Shenxing would not set off immediately as soon as his head got hot. Besides, it was already afternoon, and it was not suitable for traveling across the Pyrenees at this time.

When he passed by the supermarket, he went in and bought some convenient toiletries, water, and a small amount of energy bars. When he checked out, he saw postcards on the shelves, and he picked a few beautiful ones to send them home. Finally, he bought a pair of cheap and practical hiking sticks in an outdoor supplies store. Hehe, everything is ready and we are waiting for tomorrow to set off!

At eight o'clock the next morning, when Li Shenxing, who had breakfast, left Saint Jean Piedbor with his bags to Orisson, the shelter was already empty.

From the guide, I learned that it takes 25.7 KM from Saint-Jean Piedbor to cross the Pyrenees to Roncesvalles, and this journey is also the most difficult and dangerous day on the entire pilgrimage.

But Li Shenxing, who likes to take the unusual path, chose to stay overnight at Orisson, who is only 8KM away from Saint-Jean Piedborg, but this choice is very uncertain.

Orisson is located on the hillside of the Pyrenees. It is only open from April to October and is closed when the weather is bad. Moreover, the beds are limited, so it is very likely that you can't book frequently during peak seasons.

Therefore, most pilgrims will do a good job of building a psychological foundation for climbing the mountains on the first day and give up spending the night in Orisson.

Li Shenxing only booked a bed in Bordeaux yesterday. In the previous week, Orisson Refuge closed down for several days due to bad weather. After thinking about it, Li Shenxing thought about how lucky he was to book it when he opened the door!

Since leaving Saint-Jean Piedborg, Li Shenxing has never stopped taking pictures of his phone. It is really beautiful.

I was a little lost in seeing the beautiful scenery, so I didn't feel any fatigue when I climbed onto the 6KM slow uphill road. It was not until I got on a gravel road with a large slope that he slightly increased his breath.

In less than 2 hours, I finished 8KM and even arrived at my destination, Li Shenxing was still a little unsatisfied.

Orisson Refuge is the only last accommodation in France, so consumption is naturally not cheap. It is a bed of 36 euros, and fortunately it has dinner and breakfast.

After registering and paying the fee, the one assigned to Li Shenxing was the upper bunk of the eight-person room. Because the lower bunk is generally given priority to older or injured pilgrims, he was in his prime and was not injured and got the upper bunk.

Although this shelter is the only place to stay in the Pyrenees, the living conditions far exceed Li Shenxing's expectations.

Although the bathroom is public, it is very clean. In the early morning, everyone will tacitly stagger the washing time, so they won’t feel crowded. The only thing that is not used to is that the shower is limited. Each person will put a coin on a special coin, and the water will be cut off after five minutes, so you may not have any renewal.

If you want to wash clothes, there is a public laundry area in the courtyard, and the washed clothes can be dried directly in the yard. The afternoon sun in Spain is very hot, so it is guaranteed to be fully exposed within 2 hours.

When Li Shenxing finished taking a shower and washed the changed clothes and returned to the bed, the Italian uncle on the lower bunk was already snoring and got up early to sleep.

Seeing this, Li Shenxing left the room silently, and went to the door to drink cold beer, while holding his mobile phone to open the notepad to record what happened and write annotations to the photos. Otherwise, he would have been worried that after the hike, he would have been unable to remember where the photos were taken on his mobile phone.

For pseudo-pilgrims like Li Shenxing who come hiking purely for beautiful scenery and food, it is strongly recommended that you stay in Orisson for one night. The first is to cross the Pyrenees the next day to store your energy, and the second is to appreciate the beautiful scenery here that overlooks all the mountains.
