Nine hundred and twentieth seventh deception

When the Normandy direction was in full swing, Germany, which should have been shocked and urgently mobilized, was obviously extremely "calm".

Of course, it is understandable if "calmness" is to be confident about this, but if you still just indulge in your own thoughts and deceive yourself, it is not a good thing for the German army.

The Germans were obviously out of the latter, because a considerable number of them always believed that the Allies would land from Calais instead of Normandy, even if they had obtained the plan and date of the Allied attack on Normandy from French officers.

But Lundstetter defines these as outright lies.

In his words, it is: "This is the enemy's conspiracy. They are making a fool of themselves, trying to convince us that their goal is Normandy!"

Lundstetter's judgment was selfish, and the main reason was face-saving, because Rommel emphasized from the beginning that the Allies were likely to land from Normandy and demanded to mobilize more troops to strengthen Normandy's defense, and Lundstetter scoffed at this... Lundstetter even publicly called Rommel's bold subordinate "a little hairy boy with a stinky and unscathing hair" and "a marshal of the silly head".

Therefore, if you admit that the enemy will land in Normandy at this time, you will slap yourself hard in the face.

Lundstetter even believed that this was probably all created by Rommel... The captured French officers happened to be interrogated by soldiers commanded by Rommel.

This is also one of the reasons why the Germans only responded eight hours after the Allied forces captured Normandy. They always believed that the Allied offensive in Normandy was just a cover, and their real goal was Calais.

Rommel believed that the Allies' offensive target was Normandy.

But when the war started, he was sitting on the way to Germany by car... Rommel's trip was not just to celebrate his birthday to his wife Lucy, who was about to spend his 50-year-old. He originally planned to take this trip to Hitler's Gaden Villa, with the purpose of course, that was to convince the head of state to hand over the command of the German army in northern France to him.

"If I were the commander-in-chief!" Rommel said to an adjutant in the back seat: "I can withstand any attack from the Allied forces, even if we lack fighter jets and warships!"

Speaking of fighter jets and warships, Rommel was helpless: in the past five months, the German army had lost 13,000 aircraft in northern France, half of which were destroyed by accidents and other non-combat factors. The air force responsible for northern France had only 319 fighter jets available, which allowed the Allies to carry out unscrupulous bombing and blockade of France... This is also the main reason why Rommel had to take a car instead of an airplane to rush back to Germany.

In response to this, the German soldiers joked with a bitter taste: "The American planes are gray, the British planes are black, and the German planes...they are transparent!"

Because German planes didn't appear at all.

Unlike other German marshals and generals, when Rommel heard the report of the Allied landing in Normandy, he immediately realized the situation was serious and immediately ordered to return to France to command the German defense.

In fact, he hoped to command the battle on his way back to Paris, but it could not be achieved... Because the US fighter jets used radio interference to the combat areas, Rommel could not contact his troops at all.

So he could only contact the German command in Paris, hoping to command the counterattack against the Allied forces through them.

However, what made Rommel feel incredible was that things have reached this point, and the "noble generals" still hold an indifferent and distrustful attitude.

"Don't worry!" Lundstetter replied: "The enemy's attack in Normandy is just a small-scale attack, and they will not make any progress!"

"Have you understood the situation on the front line?" Rommel asked.

"Of course I've learned it!" Lundstetter replied: "The enemy has been driven back to the sea, and they can't move on the shore!"

The reason why Lundstetter has such an optimistic judgment is not that he is deliberately lying, but that he really doesn't know...

First of all, the US military implemented a radio blockade on the German army, and the telephone line was also cut off by the Allied agents arranged by the Normandy area. Many front-line battle situations could not be accurately transmitted to the command center.

The news received by the German command was from the second line, and the German army on the second line did not see a large number of warships on the sea in the dark, nor a large number of fighter jets and bombers in the sky... At the beginning, the attack of the Zoafu army was launched, and they did not even prepare for artillery fire, so the German army on the second line naturally thought it was a small-scale attack, so they reported it.

The second is that the German army has no more than a few aircraft that can be used.

Generally, in this case, fighter jets or reconnaissance planes will be sent to the front line to reconnaissance... Then it is clear whether it is true or false. It is impossible for the Allied forces to escape the eyes of the Air Force with so many warships and transport ships parked in the English Channel.

However, there were not many aircraft left in northern France. Lundstetter insisted that these aircraft should be used for defense in the Calais region, so he had no interest in sending aircraft to Normandy, even if it was just one for reconnaissance...

Especially during the previous bombing stage, the Allies also destroyed all the German radars in the Normandy area, so the Germans were actually blind. Even if the Allies had already attacked Normandy, they occupied five beaches, killed or captured a large number of German troops... the command center located in Paris was still unaware of it.

Here, the Allies actually used another method, which was to deliberately keep several German radar stations in the Calais region and not blow up, so as to facilitate the Allies to implement wartime deception methods.

This deception was implemented when the Zoafu Army attacked...

The deception plan is divided into two parts, one part is a warship and the other part is a paratrooper.

Of course, the warships would not be forged by fishing boats or something. In fact... most fishing boats and civilian boats were mobilized to help the Allies transport supplies in Normandy. The Allies did not have so many fishing boats for deception. And if they did so, once they were discovered by German submarines and speedboats, it would be a nightmare.
