Chapter 8 The Silent Night
Maple Leaf Town is peaceful under the night sky, and the whole town looks like it is falling asleep. The cold moonlight falls on the empty streets, silently watching the wind blowing from the wasteland raises waves of sand and dust in the town.
Emily opened her eyes on the soft big bed, looked at the darkness in the room, and thought to herself that she was indeed old. The girl who used to sleep without worries until dawn was used to waking up in the middle of the night.
In a blink of an eye, she has been separated from her husband for almost two years. The people in her husband's family have always wanted her to go to New York to accompany her husband, but Emily knew very well that this was definitely not the idea of her husband who had many confidants. He definitely hoped that he would stay here and guard his half-life savings for him - even if everyone knew it very well, Mayor Azeroth Constantine was unlikely to return to the wasteland. After leaving the genetic repair solution, he would not even live for a day.
Thinking of this, Emily sighed deeply. If she were not the eldest daughter of the Edwards family, Maple Leaf Town would have been very lively now. It was because of the two big families Constantine and Edwards who supported her behind her back that she could stay safe in the town and continue to open her bar.
But all this is based on Azeroth's still alive. After he couldn't hold on, the Constantine family would go to Maple Leaf Town to get back the property belonging to their family. The difference was just how many questions left for her. After all, she still had the Edwards family behind her, and the Constantine family would not dare to go too far.
More and more things came out of my mind. Emily finally lost her sleepiness. She walked down from the bed naked and planned to get the pajamas next to the dressing table. The room was still very cold at night and she didn't want to catch a cold for a glass of wine.
However, when her eyes swept over the dressing mirror, she suddenly saw a person standing quietly in the corner of the room.
Emily was shocked and immediately realized that it was not accidental that she had woken up just now, and it was probably her subconscious that woke her up when she felt danger.
She picked up her pajamas quietly, draped it over her body, and then slowly sat on the chair in front of the dressing table. Her right hand, who had tied her pajamas strap, slid down, and fell on the first drawer on the right side of the dressing table.
"If I were you, I wouldn't do that." A familiar man's voice rang behind her, and he said, "Is it good to talk about the ideal life together on such a beautiful night?"
Emily's hand stopped on the drawer's hand, and silently looked at the dressing mirror in front of her for a while and said, "It's you."
"I'm so glad you still remember me." Cheng Bin walked out of the darkness and stood under the moonlight shining in from the window. His injured left hand had been briefly bandaged, and he bent his elbow and held it next to his left rib.
He stroked his right hand and bowed slightly to Emily, "This is really my honor."
"After all, no one always dirty my floor." Emily thought for a while, remembering the speed of Cheng Bin's shot down Jimmy's companion in the bar, so she decided to completely give up the pistol in the drawer. If it was faster, this man was definitely the fastest person she had ever seen.
She half turned around, folded her legs, put her hands on her legs gracefully, and looked at Cheng Bin and said, "So can you explain what you want to do when you sneak into a lady's bedroom in the middle of the night? Continue to stain my skirt after staining my floor?"
After hearing Emily's resentful words, Cheng Bin was not angry, and he looked at her without any concealment.
"Are you hinting at something? Madam!" he said, "Just just remind you that you are married and you should pay attention to your words and deeds."
Emily laughed and tried her best to make herself look confident. I don’t know if it was because of the haste that her pajamas were not tied tightly, so she saw Cheng Bin’s gaze falling unscrupulously into the gap in her collar.
Instead of trying to dodge or cover up, Emily straightened her chest provocatively. This action made Cheng Bin a little embarrassed. He subconsciously looked away and heard Emily say, "What about you? What you are doing now seems to have nothing to do with a gentleman."
Cheng Bin curled his lips and realized that he had fallen into a disadvantage without realizing it. He simply walked to the chair beside the table and sat down, leaned his back on the back of the chair, raised his right leg and carried it across his left knee, then took off his hat and placed it on his right leg.
"To be honest, I'm here to discuss business," he said.
Emily laughed. She knew she had bet right and the man knew her background. Even for the wilderness hunter who was used to lawlessness, offending Constantine and Edwards at the same time was not an easy task. The latter could make him unable to move on the wasteland, while the former could make him feel the tragic tragedy of the world being so great that he had no place to live.
She tried her best to prevent her smile from irritating the man opposite her. After all, the background can only shock the rational person. All she has to do now is to help the other person stay rational. She said with a faint smile: "I think you've made a mistake. The person who wants to talk to you about business is Mr. Castro, not me."
"I know." Cheng Bin said. When he was ready to show off with the other party instead of continuing to play intrigue, Cheng Bin suddenly found that the other party looked quite pleasing to the eye in both appearance and style. This is different from Isabel's beauty with obvious girlish childishness. It is a style that has been immersed in the years and is endlessly evocative.
"Frankly," he said, "I'm not used to doing men's business."
Emily laughed ambiguously, "So..." She raised her voice and said, "You only do women's business?"
"Woman!" Cheng Bin said sincerely: "You are playing with fire."
"Someone is scared!" Emily smiled and said, "So you don't do business with married women?"
Cheng Bin took a deep breath and decided to end the meeting. He said, "I brought someone. She was in the car outside, so you'd better find someone who is trustworthy to bring her in."
Emily was stunned for a moment, frowned and said, "What?"
Cheng Bin did not answer, but just made a gesture to her. Emily hesitated for a moment, stood up and walked towards the door, and found that Cheng Bin did not stop him.
When she opened the door, Emily had the urge to escape from the door and summon the guards for a moment, but in the end, curiosity prevailed. She stood at the door without closing the door, and asked the maid who was guarding outside the door to call her most trusted butler, and then asked the butler to go outside the door, find a car, and bring the people in the car in.
"It's a lady." In the housekeeper's confusing gaze, Emily thought that Cheng Bin used the "her" of a woman when she mentioned people just now, so she reminded her: "Be gentle, don't scare others."
After the butler left, Emily closed the door and turned to Cheng Bin and said, "Don't you want to remind me of something before you see that mysterious guest?"
"Of course." Cheng Bin said: "But before that, you have to answer me a question first."
"How many nuclear-powered trucks are there in this town?" he asked.
Emily raised her head slightly and looked at Cheng Bin with a startled look, "So, have you met Mr. Jugashviri?"
