Chapter Thirteen Buddhist Disciples (Part 2)

When Li Jun heard this, he was so angry that he wanted to give Xie Daoqing two big brothers. The Mongolian army was about to siege the city, and military and national affairs were piled up like mountains, one by one, one by one, and one by one. Time was extremely tight, but she was in a mood to learn Buddhism and wanted Li Jun to accompany her. This chaos was not ordinary. Even if you don’t know who is less or more serious when studying Buddhism or the court is in danger, it really makes people annoyed.

Before Li Jun could even say anything, Xie Daoqing followed and said, "Your Majesty, if you don't listen to Master Mingxia's words, you are not sincere. I'd better go to Qixia Temple to stay for a few days." She was threatening Li Jun.

Not being threatened has always been Li Jun's virtue. I really want to say, "If you go, go, who is afraid of who?" I still have to endure the anger and say, "I listen, I listen, isn't it okay?"

"Okay, okay, I know you are very filial." Xie Daoqing happily took Li Jun's hand and sat down, saying, "Give the emperor a cup of tea. You go and urge you, ask Master Mingxia to hurry up. The emperor has a tight time and can't wait for anyone."

"You only now understand that my time is urgent, and it's useless." Li Jun cursed in his heart, but said, "Don't be anxious, don't be anxious, let the master slowly." What he thought to himself was: "It's better not to come, call the Buddha on the way, and end in vain."

Li Jun's wish was not fulfilled. After a while, Zhao Qian led a kind-hearted middle-aged bald monk in. He wore a bright red cassock on his body. He looked like a chubby monk with a short and fat man. If Li Jun hadn't been annoyed by him in his heart, he would have had a great impression of him.

"Amitabha Buddha, longevity and holy blessings, the poor monk Mingxia is polite. Amitabha Buddha, Mingxia, a person who is transformed from the outside, has seen the emperor." Master Mingxia bowed and met.

For Li Jun now, he was so angry that he would not feel good about a Buddhist disciple, even if the Buddha came here in person, he would not feel good about it. He just looked at him coldly and did not speak.

Xie Daoqing's performance was different. He was very enthusiastic, as if he saw his ancestors, and said, "Master, please sit down and serve tea to the master. Master, the emperor has not had much time, so don't say too much, just say the previous part and half. Tell me, the emperor and I are listening." She was really anxious, and she had such a pious Buddha heart.

"How great would it be if you were so enthusiastic about handling national affairs?" Li Jun thought with dissatisfaction.

Master Mingxia is also a wise person. He knew that the most important thing now is not to study Buddhism, but to keep the court. He said, "Amitabha Buddha, longevity and holy blessings, I think..." He interrupted Xie Daoqing and said, "Master, if you don't say it, I will go to the temple to worship Buddha."

Isn't this obvious that Master Mingxia wants to speak of Buddha? Master Mingxia smiled bitterly across his face, sat cross-legged on the tuan, counting beads to preach, and said, "Amitabha Buddha, I follow the order. The Diamond Prajna Paramita Sutra is the emptiness of the three views, the abyss of one reality. In the past, this Mani was not shining in the immortal garden, but now the elders' garden is sprinkled with nectar. Since the little ambition first, he has galloped the sheep and deer early, and his heart is starting to drive this white

Niu. This is the Orthodox teaching of Vansattva. It is neither cloud nor rain nor rain to nourish the four lives, neither sun nor moon illuminates the three realms, and it is like the vast sea to bring the flows, and it is like the withering grasses of winter frost. If there is a Buddhist version, it is said that the Bajara Prajna Paramita Shrava, which translates the Vajra wisdom on the other side of the sutra. The wise and unbreakable are called Vajra, and the Prajna is called Prajna, and the Sutra is called Prajna in the same shore. The Sutra is the regular teaching of Dharma."

He was talking about the Diamond Sutra. Li Jun studied the Diamond Sutra and knew the meaning very well. Master Mingxia's explanation was nothing new. What surprised Li Jun was that Master Mingxia spoke of Sanskrit with the most authentic Sanskrit, which was just like the Indian scholars who communicated with Li Jun. This was definitely not something you could learn from books in hiding in a temple. Li Jun asked: "Master, where did you learn your Sanskrit first-class language?"

The Buddhist scriptures used in Chinese Buddhism use literal translation, and many of them are based on the pronunciation and transliteration of Sanskrit. Therefore, it is best to understand the Buddhist scriptures to understand Sanskrit. Therefore, most of the ancient Chinese monks were proficient in Sanskrit. Master Mingxia could speak the meaning of Sanskrit. The problem was that his Sanskrit was too authentic. (Note: Due to the translation of Buddhist scriptures, the main learner of ancient Chinese Sanskrit was Buddhist disciples.)

Li Jun is very clear about the rules of learning language. He wants to learn authentic languages. It is best to communicate with local people in the language. For example, if foreigners want to learn Chinese, it is best to go to Beijing for further study. If Chinese people want to learn American English, it is best to go to the United States, and if they want to learn British English, it is best to go to the United Kingdom. Of course, modern technology is developed and there are auxiliary tools such as repeaters. If you don’t go to the Southern Song Dynasty, you can learn authentic languages. In the Southern Song Dynasty, there were no high-tech products such as repeaters. If you don’t go to India, you can only rely on your master’s teachings. If your master’s pronunciation and understanding is incorrect, your apprentice will follow the mistakes. Over time, it will become a rumor.

Li Jun has many contacts with Indian scholars and is quite familiar with Sanskrit. When he hears it, he knows that the authentic Sanskrit like Master Mingxia will not be the result of spreading rumors. It should be because of other reasons, so he asked this question.

Master Mingxia combined the ceremony and said, "When I returned to the emperor, I was looking for the Buddha, and I wanted to go to the extreme west. In my early years, I went to the Pure Land with a caravan and practiced meditation for four years in front of the Buddha's seat. After living in the Western Pure Land for a long time, I learned Sanskrit." Readers who have read "Journey to the West" know that Buddhism calls India the Western Pure Land. Master Mingxia means that he has lived in India for four years, and has interacted with locals for a long time, and has also learned Sanskrit.

If you study Buddhism, you just study Buddhism. If you don’t listen carefully, but ask these irrelevant things. Xie Daoqing was very unhappy. Just as he was about to introduce Li Jun’s topic into Buddhism, Li Jun took the lead and said: “How did the master go to the Pure Land? Is it by sea or by land?”

This question goes further, and Xie Daoqing becomes even more unhappy, his face is getting old. Because Master Mingxia is speaking, he has to endure it and glances at Li Jun dissatisfiedly, and Li Jun just smiles slightly.

Master Mingxia replied: "I go to the Western Paradise by sea and turn around by land through the Western Regions."

Although there were trade exchanges between the Song Dynasty and India, it was not frequent, and not many people went there. There were very few people like Master Mingxia who took both sea and land. Li Jun became more interested and said, "The master is very familiar with the customs and cultural stories of the Pure Land?"

"I don't know, I know a little bit. The emperor has asked for some inquiries, so I should tell the truth." Master Mingxia was not stupid either. He thought that Li Jun must be curious about speaking like this. He wanted to ask him about some novel things. If the answer is in line with the holy wishes, the benefits will be inevitable. He cheered up and prepared to be tested.

Unfortunately, Master Mingxia’s idea was wrong, and Li Jun did not ask him about the strange stories and anecdotes of India. Li Jun was from the 21st century and had a very good study of India’s history. He had a better understanding of it than Master Mingxia. In Master Mingxia’s view, it was a novel thing, but it was not worth mentioning in Li Jun’s eyes.
