19. Gotham's cancer and hope

Asking for help? Asking for help?

Would Batman do something like this?

Lin En felt that there was a certain deviation in his knowledge, but he thought carefully about the movies he had watched in which superheroes teamed up to fight monsters...

"hiss……!"

Lin En was surprised to find that what Mr. Bateman seemed to be best at was asking for help!

Or, we can use a more orthodox and official term to describe it: forming a group.

Superheroes usually stay in their own acre of land and do not interfere with each other. Some even have some ideological conflicts. What's more, they may have some feuds with each other.

Under this premise, superheroes are nothing but shit when gathered together, and a sky full of stars when scattered.

Only Mr. Bateman can hold them together.

In the past, Lin En also thought about the reason for this, that is... is it possible that the reason why superheroes can only be connected by Batman is that they have something in common in that situation?

Language, the common enemy.

Well... that's Batman.

Although it is a joke, the large number of anti-this armor and anti-that armor in Mr. Bateman's warehouse are not done casually.

His book and notes contained records of the methods, characteristics, and abilities of each superhero. Linn even wondered if Batman had secretly dissected Superman.

How else could he know so clearly?

Now, Linn was sure that in the past few months that he and Batman had known each other, the old man might have added a few pages to Linn's book.

Most likely there will also be some directional instructions such as dismembering the body and burning it.

"It's so hard... He's already like this, and I still have to help him."

Catwoman must have no idea what was going on in Linn's mind when she looked at the letter.

Regardless, her mission is accomplished.

"Then the bat gave you the letter, or asked you to give this thing to me."

This issue is quite important.

Catwoman shook her head and said: "None of them. I accidentally found this letter when... um... I went to his house to appreciate art.

Should I call it a suicide note more appropriately?"

"What the hell?!"

Lin En couldn't keep calm anymore. First, he blasted a high note as if breaking his guard, then turned around and jumped to the top of the stairs with a big jump.

Don't make trouble, this is Batman!

He even wrote a suicide note?!

Isn't it because Darkseid is coming?

Anyway, Linn couldn't think of any problem that could force Batman to write a suicide note so miserable.

Eh?

Suddenly feeling blessed, Linn turned to look at Catwoman: "Have you read this letter?"

"Um."

"Did Batman write the letter, or..."

"It was written by another person."

Yo, this is interesting.

Lin En wondered if this was a repayment of the love debt from earlier.

Bruce Wayne's belt was quite loose in his early years... not to mention his earlier years.

If the daughter of the ninja master came here with her child, Lin En would not want to get involved in this household matter.

If that was the case, he thought it would be good to watch the excitement.

But looking at Catwoman's expression, it doesn't look like her.

Shaking her head, Linn thought no more, sat back by the fire and opened the letter.

Just two simple pieces of paper.

The first one talked a lot about the fate of the Wayne family, the foundation, and the empty house...

On the second piece of paper, there is a drawing of an owl.

"Oh, I understand."

When Lin En saw the second piece of paper, he understood the meaning of the muttered "last words" on the first piece of paper.

No wonder Catwoman said it was a suicide note, in a sense, it is.

"Do you understand?"

"Don't talk about this yet."

Lin folded the letter and put it away, and looked at Catwoman with a smile: "Why did you think of passing this thing to me? There have been a lot of rumors about me these days, aren't you afraid of me?"

"...What rumors...still rumors..."

"ha?"

"I know him fairly well. So, I also know something about you. You and him are considered friends.

He...has no one he can trust. Two old men, a child, and a woman can't do anything to help him.

But you can."

This was not very pleasant to hear, but Lin En understood it.

"That's okay."

Lin En suddenly stood up, turned around and walked upstairs.

"Hey! Aren't you going to help? It's been several days since I wrote this letter. He is really missing."

"Of course I'm going to help. Don't I have to change equipment?"

"What does that letter mean? Who is it addressed to?"

"Hey, it's not for the two of us anyway."

"Hey! Hey--!"

Linn left, and the kitten jumped out of Catwoman's arms and ran upstairs.

Not long after, Catwoman heard the sound of the window upstairs being pushed open. She turned to look out the window and saw a heavily armed man wrapped in a quilt on a huge balloon with a cat in his arms.

, flew away into the distance, and soon disappeared into the night.

"Did he really just leave like that? Leave me here?"

Catwoman feels that she has been slighted. I can't save him, but that doesn't mean I can't help!

Also, if you leave as soon as you want, what does it mean to leave me at your house?

"It's really the way of a madman."

Sitting back on the wood, Catwoman originally wanted to wait here, but at Lynn's house... she can wait as long as there is water and electricity.

"Forget it, I'd better go back to my home. As expected, staying in a big house is not as comfortable as a small one.

This time, you owe me a favor~"

Climbing up the window sill, Catwoman jumped out of the window and left, also disappearing into the night.

Taking the door is what ordinary people would do. Superheroes don't take the ordinary path at all. They don't go through the door anyway.

……………………

Lynn didn't know much about Gotham. Even Falcone only knew about it through a certain TV series.

However, Lin happened to have a little bit of understanding about the owl painting.

"Court of Owls? Or what? Owl predators? Forgot."

In short, this is an extremely large organization. They are entrenched in Gotham and are the real cancer of Gotham.

The foundations and fate that Batman mentioned in the letter were not nonsense. The battle with the Owl seems to have started several generations ago in the Wayne family.

Even the death of Wayne's parents is inextricably related to this organization.

No wonder the old Bat left this "suicide note". He must have thought that he had found a solution to Gotham's evils, and at the same time he had found the node that ended the Wayne family's curse and fate, which was the Owl Organization.

"Old Bat still hasn't seen the world... Hasn't he pinned some hope on me?

No, after rescuing him this time, I have to find a way to let him see the world..."
