Chapter 2, Chasing the Soul

I was so angry that I was lazy to argue with her again. The old lady stood aside and looked hesitant, not knowing what to do.

"Grandma, since I'm here, can you tell if I'm going to try it?"

The old lady sighed silently and nodded.

"Since you're here, try it."

"Mom, what's there to try? I'll waste my time. I'll go find Mr. Wang tomorrow."

Aunt Zhugan still refused to give in.

"Okay, I've asked you to find it long ago. Where have you been looking for? Tomorrow? Just today, let this kid try it."

The old lady's firm words touched me particularly, although she still had doubts about me.

Anyway, if I can try it, I will give me a chance.

The old lady pointed to the mottled and old door tremblingly.

"Go ahead, my daughter, the door is open, so I won't go in. I'll stay away from them when I'm older."

"Mom, you are waiting here. I'll go with them, and I want to see how they lie."

I ignored her and just follow her if I want to, don't be scared.

Xu Yanxin and I walked to the front door.

"Be careful, open the door."

Xu Yanxin stepped forward and pushed open the door hard, making a creaking sound of friction that made people's hair whispered.

The sound in the dark night made me tremble all over.

Xu Yanxin turned around and looked at me, her face turned pale, and she leaned close to me and lowered her voice.

"Song Dabang, are you...are you sure... you really want to go in and catch ghosts?"

I put my backpack back on my back and patted it, and felt a little confident in my heart and gritted my teeth.

"Be careful, you can get a tiger's son if you don't enter the tiger's den."

He heard my affirmative answer, he hesitated for a moment, but still raised his leg and walked in first.

I followed Xu Yanxin tightly, and Aunt Zhugan followed me closely behind. The sound of "da da" footsteps that fell were particularly clear in this quiet night.

"Be careful, walk slowly."

To be honest, I was a little scared. After all, this was my first time to come out to lure the spirit, and I still couldn't suppress my inner panic.

Sudden……

A "bang" sound came from behind, and then Aunt Zhugan ran over and grabbed me without letting go.

I was so scared that I turned back at the same time as Xu Yanxin.

The door that came in was actually closed by itself.

Xu Yanxin looked at me.

"No...it's okay, it might be the wind."

I nodded without saying anything, thinking to myself: How can there be wind?

I turned around and looked at the yard. The lights were not turned on. It was pitch black. It was terriblely silent under the moonlight, covering it with a gloomy aura.

It seemed like a rockery in front of me. There should be a pool at the bottom of the rockery, and I could vaguely hear the sound of water flowing.

The trees around were reflected in the dark shadows underground, and there was an inexplicable smell of fishy smell from the breath.

I was sniffing my nose...

“Hahaha…”

Suddenly, a sharp and evil laughter from a woman came from the yard.

I couldn't help but tremble, and Xu Yanxin was so scared that she grabbed me.

"Song...Song is bold, did you hear it? It seems that someone is laughing!"

"Listen... I heard! It shouldn't be a human, it's a ghost."

"Ah? My grandma! There's really a ghost."

Xu Yanxin held my hand tightly.

Aunt Zhugan said sarcastically: "Look at your courage, you two are liars at first glance."

Humph, why are you brave enough to hold my arm?

I was complaining in my heart...a sinister voice came again.

"I hope you don't know. You treat me like a passerby... You are finally here..."

When I heard this gloomy and ghostly voice, my hair stood up.

I looked at Aunt Zhugan. Her face was so white that she didn't need to put on makeup. She was white and her arms were trembling when she hugged me.

Looking at Xu Yanxin again, cold sweat flowed down his forehead.

"Song...Song is bold, that...that female ghost is so...it seems to be waiting for us."

"I heard it!"

"Then...whether is she?"

I looked around and didn't see the female ghost. I felt the wind gusts, and the surrounding area immediately became cold.

"I didn't see it."

"You...didn't you just said that you had driven Yin-Yang Eyes?"

I remembered this time.

The compass can locate the ghost's location, as if there is another talisman that can track the evil ghost and find her more directly.

I calmed down my mind and decided to try the power of the talisman.

"The ghost is hiding, of course I can't see her anymore. It's okay, I have the soul-chasing talisman."

I took out a soul-chasing talisman from my schoolbag, slapped it in the air, muttering something in my mouth, and then made a mark with my hands awkward.

The yellow talisman floated into the air with a "puff" sound, and then it immediately burned, illuminating the entire front yard of the ancient house.

The courtyard was full of weeds, and my eyes swept across every corner, but I didn’t see any sneaky shadows, and the talismans were burned out without any movement.

"Song Dabang, what are you? Can you fly?"

Xu Yanxin stared at the air in surprise. Aunt Zhugan didn't blink at all and opened her mouth wide. She was silent now.

Frightened?

"Tactics, soul-chasing talisman, my grandmother said that after the soul-chasing talisman is lit, it will automatically track down the evil spirits."

"Have you tracked it down?"

I shook my head and muttered, "Why don't you move?"

I felt secretly depressed.

Is it because there is no sneaky in the yard, or is it because I used the wrong method of grandma's talisman?

While thinking, the female ghost sighed quietly, her voice came again with a sad and melancholy.

"Oh! Xiao Lang, you are finally here..."

It sounds so miserable. This environment and the sad voice immediately made me shudder.

The sound seemed to be coming from the backyard. Even if she was in the backyard, the talisman could track it down?

"Go and go to the backyard to have a look."

I pulled Xu Yanxin and ran to the backyard.

"Wait for me, two." Aunt Zhugan followed us unyieldingly.

“Swishy…”

A night wind blew, and the bamboo forest in the backyard made a slight sound, which was creepy under the quiet darkness.

I stopped and leaned against Xu Yanxin, and released another soul-chasing talisman.

As the soul-chasing talisman was ignited, there was no trace of sneaky shadow in the backyard, and the soul-chasing talisman was still not moving and did not go to soul-chasing.

"Why don't you chase the soul talisman? There is obviously a female ghost!!"

I whispered in confusion, a little at a loss.

"Is this talisman not easy to use? Let's try another way?"

"This method...is what my grandma taught me yesterday before she died..."

After I finished speaking, I looked at Xu Yanxin with some guilt.

"Your grandma just taught you yesterday? Then... are we here to die?!"

I grabbed Xu Yanxin's ears.

"Crayons are careful... don't talk nonsense, you're looking for a beating!"

"Oh...be gentle, it hurts...Who are we Song Dadan? That's the most beautiful little Ling Po in the world!"

Xu Yanxin immediately changed his face and flattered me.

"Yo... I've gotten into a flirting mood. If it weren't for a liar, I'd caught the ghost."

Aunt Zhugan chased after me and stood beside me and mocked her.
