Chapter 4 Do You a Favor
When we arrived at the hospital, it was exactly nine o'clock, and Rong Li followed Pei Yao with a bunch of fruit in his hand.
"You are my boyfriend of half a year. He has been abroad before and just returned to China last week. If you propose to me, I will agree to your proposal. You can do the rest by yourself, remember?"
"Remember it, remember it. You've been talking about it all the time. I'm not a fool. Don't worry, I am very popular with the elders. I will definitely be able to win over your grandma."
Pei Yao didn't believe it. She looked back at the man who was a head taller than her. Although he stood upright, he seemed to have an innate smugness about him. He looked... not like him at all.
The elders will like it.
"You don't believe it?" Rong Li sneered, "Then watch carefully."
The two of them walked to the door of the ward and were about to go in when they heard Mrs. Rong's voice coming over. Rong Li glanced in through the window and happened to see his grandmother's smiling eyes that couldn't be opened.
"This old lady came very quickly."
After saying that, he pushed open the door and walked in the next moment. Pei Yao, who was following behind, took a step slower and saw Rong Li walking to her grandmother's bedside with a smile. After putting down the things in her hands, she held her grandmother's hand tightly.
"Grandma~"
Pei Yao's grandmother has been lying in the hospital bed for half a year. The little old lady who looked a little plump before is now extremely thin. Every time she comes over, her eyes always turn red involuntarily.
Only this time, she stood at the door with her eyes wide open and did not go in.
"Grandma, I am my graceful husband, your new grandson~~~"
Pei Yao felt a little numb when hearing the word husband, but Rong Li said it very smoothly.
"Look, this is our marriage certificate. I just received it yesterday."
Rong Li took out a small red book from his pocket and put it in his grandmother's hand. Her hands were shaking a little, so he opened the marriage certificate thoughtfully.
"You see, Yaoyao and I are married, and we will be filial to you together from now on."
"Really married?" Grandma's voice was trembling, and Pei Yao came over at this time.
"Well, grandma, he is the boyfriend I told you about. He returned to China last week and proposed to me. I'm sorry for not telling you in advance."
"What's the point? I sleep most of the time, and you can't help it even if you want to talk to me."
Grandma's words were calm and gentle, but Pei Yao only felt sad.
Wherever she was sleeping, she was clearly in a coma most of the time.
"But it's good to get married, it's good to get married. Finally, someone can take care of you for me. Now I can feel relieved even if grandma is gone."
"grandmother……"
"What did grandma say?" Rong Li spoke first, "You have taught Yaoyao so well. In the future, when we have children, grandma will have to help raise them. You must take good care of your health. We will take care of you when the time comes.
Can you take me over and live here?"
"You kid, if you say that, your grandma should be jealous."
Grandma Rong, who had been silent for a long time, smiled and said, "Give this child to you quickly, I don't want it at all."
"Okay, from now on I will be your grandson."
After the words fell, the grandmother lying on the bed kept laughing, and Pei Yao, who was standing beside the bed, also had a faint smile on her lips.
Ever since grandma got sick, she rarely smiled like this.
It was not until noon that Pei Yao and Rong Li were kicked out by their grandmother, and Grandma Rong was also left with them.
Walking to the door of the hospital, Grandma Rong took Pei Yao's hand.
"Yaoyao, don't blame grandma for coming over suddenly. We are now a family. Your grandma is about the same age as me, so I thought of coming over to see her today."
"No." Pei Yao shook his head, "My grandma and I are the only two people left at home. I am very grateful that you are willing to come see her."
"As long as you don't get angry, I will visit her often when I have time in the future. You can rest assured and work." Old Mrs. Rong patted her hand again, "Grandma is leaving first, let Rong Li take you to work."
"I don't..."
Hearing this, Rong Li immediately shook his head. He hid behind Pei Yao and quietly poked her.
"Grandma Rong, there's no need for him to send me off, the funeral home after all..."
"What are you afraid of? There are so many taboos. Rong Li is timid, so he just needs to practice."
"Grandma, I have a taboo. A funeral parlor is a place for dead people. I don't want my family to appear there."
Pei Yao was smiling when she said this, and her tone was as calm as if she said she didn't like rainy days.
But there was a hint of vague distress in Grandma Rong's eyes.
"Okay, then let Rong Li take you to the door without going in, okay?"
The last three words were spoken to Rong Li behind her. Old Mrs. Rong narrowed her eyes and the smile on her face deepened, but Rong Li trembled as she looked at it.
"If you don't obey me, I'll leave first and call your mother."
"I'll give it away, I'll give it away, grandma, I'll give it away now."
Rong Li pulled Pei Yao into the car and left here as quickly as possible.
After the car started, Rong Li returned to his previous appearance.
"I'm sorry, I didn't do what I promised you." Pei Yao said apologetically in her voice.
"It has nothing to do with you. Grandma always uses my mother to suppress me. It's useless for you to say anything. But if you say yes, it will be delivered to the door. I will not step in."
Hearing this, Pei Yao smiled softly.
"I still want to thank you today. My grandma has not been so happy for a long time."
"Of course you have to thank me." Rong Li tugged on the tie around his neck, "I am the best at making the elderly happy in my family. With me here, your grandma will be happy every day from now on."
After hearing these two words, Pei Yao didn't say anything. She didn't know how long it would take for her grandma to live in the future. She just hoped that her grandma would always be happy.
"Thank you very much."
After saying this, the two of them stopped talking until they arrived at the entrance of the funeral home. Just as Pei Yao was about to get out of the car, he heard someone calling his name.
Both of them looked towards the place where the sound came from. A man in clean and simple clothes was standing there with a gentle smile on his lips. He looked at Pei Yao as if he could no longer see anyone else.
Rong Li poked his head and suddenly smiled.
He got out of the car, reached the passenger seat, and opened the door for Pei Yao.
One hand reached in, and looking from the side, you could see the gentle smile on his face.
"Yao Yao, here we are."
Pei Yao looked up at him with a confused expression, "What are you doing?"
"Do you a favor."
After the words fell, she looked at Zhao Xing not far away. The smile at the corner of his mouth had stiffened, but she quickly looked away.
Pei Yao put his hand on Rong Li's and they walked out together.
"Zhao Xing."
"Pei Yao, this is..." Zhao Xing's eyes fell on Rong Li.
"Hello, I am Yaoyao's husband. I just received the certificate yesterday and I didn't bring any wedding candy with me. I will ask Yaoyao to bring it to you tomorrow."
"You...you're married?"
"Yeah." Pei Yao smiled and said, "When I hold the wedding, I will send you invitations. Why are you here today?"
"Ah, I have no classes at school today. I'm here to deliver food to my dad. I'll go over first."
Before Pei Yao could finish speaking, Zhao Xing turned around in a panic and walked inside.
Until he disappeared, Rong Li let go of her hand, took out a wet wipe from his pocket and wiped it carefully.
