Chapter 214 Time is running out

After get off work, Rong Li went to the funeral home to pick Pei Yao up with him to the hospital.

When she arrived at the hospital, her grandmother was lying there. Compared to the previous period, her grandmother had lost weight. Pei Yao's heart was tugging after entering the ward, but she still had a smile on her face.

"Grandma, how are you doing today?"

"Why are you here again?"

Grandma's voice was weak a few days ago. She wanted to raise her hand to hold Pei Yao, but she fell down halfway, which made Pei Yao's eyes flush.

She quickly reached out her hand and held her grandmother tightly, "Grandma, I'm here."

Grandma's hands are so thin that there are almost only bones left. Pei Yao has always come to deliver food to her grandmother these days, but she can't eat much every time and can't eat it anymore. She relies on nutrient solution every day and looks like a person.

"Yaoyao, Yaoyao."

Her voice was soft and she had no strength. Pei Yao leaned forward to let herself hear her words.

"I can always dream about your parents recently. They regretted it. They shouldn't have done stupid things at the beginning. Leave you alone and let you, a half-old child, depend on me, the old woman. Fortunately, you now have your own family, and Xiaoli treats you very well, and I can rest assured."

"How can you rest assured?"

Pei Yao's tone was a bit of a pity that she didn't usually have, but listening carefully was to hide her sadness.

"I don't feel at ease with myself."

"But you have Xiaoli now and Xiaoli's family, they will treat you well."

Grandma patted Pei Yao's hand and wanted to say something else, but she didn't want to continue the topic, but instead talked about something else.

"I made your favorite soup today, let's drink a bowl."

Seeing this, grandma didn't say anything else. Pei Yao shook the bed and served a small bowl of soup for grandma, but she only drank a few sips and could not drink it again. Not long after, she fell asleep again in a drowsy manner.

This time, my grandmother only woke up for half an hour. Pei Yao silently packed up her things and looked up at Rong Li standing next to her.

"Let's go and find a doctor."

When they arrived at the office, the doctor was waiting for them. Pei Yao walked in and sat down without speaking. The doctor just shook his head.

"You guys should prepare early."

"How long will it take?"

When asked this question, Pei Yao's voice was already trembling. Rong Li held her hand tightly, but found that her fingers were so cold that it was scary.

"At most half a month, in fact, the patient's current situation is. If the machines are removed, they will die within half an hour. She will rely on the machines for more days. I think you know that the patient is also aware of his situation. If there is something that cannot be done and what he hasn't said, do it as soon as possible during this period, and don't leave any regrets for yourself."

"I understand, thank you doctor."

Pei Yao said this as if calmly, and then walked out of the office with Rong Li. As soon as she walked out, her legs suddenly became soft.

"Yaoyao!"

"I'm fine."

She held Rong Li's hand tightly to give her body a support.

In fact, when he was on a blind date with Rong Li, Pei Yao knew that his grandmother had not had much time. If Rong Li had not transferred his grandmother to the military hospital, he would have left long ago.

The days she lived for so many years seemed to be stolen. She was always worried about whether she would suddenly receive news that her grandmother had left, whether she would see her grandmother for the last time, and how desperate she would be when she was left alone in this world.

She sat there quietly, her eyes not knowing where it was, and her whole body seemed to be misty and had no support between the world and could not hear any sound.

Rong Li called her in her ear for a long time before she came to her senses, but she still looked confused, and Rong Li's heart was pulled together.

"Yaoyao, don't be afraid."

"I'm not afraid."

Pei Yao's cold hands and Rong Li's fingers were intertwined, trying to draw some warmth from him.

"Let's go home. I want to make candy cakes for my grandma. She likes to eat candy cakes the most."

"Okay, let's go back now."

Pei Yao was led away from the hospital by Rong Li. She didn't say a word on the way back. After she got home, she plunged into the kitchen, closed the door, and stayed inside by herself.

Hearing the sound, Qin Yang walked out, looked at the graceful courtesy outside, and asked softly what was wrong.

In the kitchen, Pei Yao took out the things she needed to make sugar cakes from the cabinet, thinking that her grandmother liked to eat sugar cakes the most, so the first thing she learned in the kitchen was sugar cakes. Over the years, she has made them countless times. She can accurately serve them with her eyes closed, but now, her hands are trembling.

Her eyes slowly became blurred, and tears fell from the corners of her eyes at some point. She held the bag in her hand tightly and stood there crying silently.

Although she felt that she was ready, when she was really facing this matter, the fortress she had built for herself collapsed instantly. She now realized that she would never be able to prepare for this matter.

Standing there for no reason, Pei Yao raised her hand to wipe her tears, looked down at the things in her hand, and started making sugar cakes.

She forced herself not to think about what the doctor said or what grandma looked like, but just focused on being there and making what grandma liked to eat.

It took one night to stay. Qin Yang was easily rushed back to sleep, but Rong Li kept standing at the door waiting for her.

He didn't bother Pei Yao. He knew that she needed time for her to digest.

Until five o'clock the next morning, Pei Yao finally came out of the kitchen. As soon as she opened the door, she saw Heng Ge standing there.

Under normal circumstances, she would ask why you stood here? Have you stood here overnight?

But now, she only said one sentence.

"Gong Ge, I'm going to see my grandma."

Rong Li nodded and was about to respond, but was shocked by the scene behind her.
