Chapter 7 Set up a tent, the prototype of the camp

Originally, the process required to make an animal skin tent was very complex, especially starting from the raw materials, and the processing of the animal skin alone was extremely troublesome.

However, thanks to the excellent raw materials - perhaps these creatures in this world have some magical qualities beyond Lu Ning's knowledge, this greatly simplifies the process he needs to operate.

There is no need for special tanning of the hide. Just use a stone knife to scrape off the adhesions and mucous membranes under the skin, then soak it in water for several hours, and then put it in the sun to dry.

Then take it outside to dry during the day and put it back next to the campfire at night. Repeat this for a few days to remove the odor and make the fur soft.

The next step is to sew these animal skins together.

He had polished a delicate bone needle a few days ago and extracted the ligament of the one-horned monster to use as silk thread.

A ligament is nearly one meter long. Although it is slender, it is very tough and can play the role of silk thread.

In theory, needlework is the most time-consuming and skillful work in the entire process. However, Lu Ning completed this part of the process extremely easily: when he had little money before, he would mend torn clothes by himself with needlework, so for this kind of work

It's extremely familiar.

Just sewing these animal skins together is much simpler than sewing smooth and even cuffs on clothes. Lu Ning finished all the sewing work in less than half an hour.

It's a pity that my physical strength has not been fully recovered these days, my hands are a little shaky and my eyes are a little blurry - otherwise, it should be faster.

Now that the furs were ready, Lu Ning began to process the wood needed to build the tent.

Of course, these woods were all removed from the walls and beams of the dilapidated house, and Lu Ning chose a few with better quality.

A small stone knife is much more convenient to use than a hand ax for this kind of work. At first, when Lu Ning had no experience at all, he used the hand ax to cut wood, and accidentally broke several of them, so he could only use it to add fuel to the fire.

The sawdust peeled off layer by layer, spreading a thick layer on the ground.

Soon, several square pieces of wood were perfectly cut out by Lu Ning.

Thanks to the experience of whittling wood when making spears in the past two days, Lu Ning did not spend a lot of time this time, and the results were very gratifying.

After putting down the wood, Lu Ning saw from the corner of his eye that the campfire was getting weaker, so he collected the wood chips with his hands, wrapped them in layers with a few dead leaves, and then carefully stuffed them from the bottom edge of the campfire.

If these sawdust were thrown into the fire at once, they would explode and be blown everywhere by the airflow - Lu Ning suffered a big loss yesterday.

The flames burned a big hole in the shirt he was wearing, and sawdust was thrown all over his face and mouth.

But this time he learned a lesson: Wrap the sawdust. Although it would still blow away a bit later, at least his pants would not be burned off.

Although after so many days of struggle, this set of things in his body has long been torn apart into nothing but holes.

Now that the important materials have been prepared, the next work will be much easier.

Use bone nails to assemble the wood into a basic skeleton, insert the four corners into the soil, then lay animal skins and straw on top layer by layer, and then use bone nails and stones to press the corners...

I kept busy like this until late at night, and finally, a decent animal skin tent was set up next to the campfire.

The exit of the tent was facing the direction of the campfire. The height was almost as high as Lu Ning's chest, and the length and width were just enough for an adult man to lie inside without feeling cramped at all.

Inside the tent, there was a layer of straw on the ground, and the softest animal skins that Lu Ning had collected.

Lu Ning couldn't wait to get in and lay down. Feeling the soft touch and the firelight radiating in from outside the tent, she couldn't help but let out a long breath.

His little home, which was as desolate as a ruin, finally looked like it could be lived in.

Today's wind direction is northeast, wind force level 3, sunny.

At noon.

Lu Ning woke up suddenly.

What came into view was not the familiar sky, but a gray-white fur roof.

He opened the curtain and got out of the tent, looking at the bright sun above his head, using his hand to shield his sharp eyes from the sunlight.

It’s been a long time since I had such a comfortable sleep, and I actually slept until noon.

It was already time to return from gathering and hunting and start practicing sling skills.

He stretched his limbs, moved his shoulders and neck, and felt more awake than ever.

Although he couldn't see it himself, the dark circles under his eyes had almost disappeared.

"It's already noon anyway, why don't we touch it today..." Lu Ning couldn't help but have this thought in his mind.

However, his stomach soon made him give up this idea - maybe it was because he had a better rest, but his hunger was more obvious than usual.

He didn't have enough capital to fish for himself. If he didn't go out to collect resources for a day, his food reserves would easily run out, making it difficult to maintain supply for his future life - he clearly understood this.

"It would be great if I could grow my own land... Then I wouldn't have to go out, I would just have to harvest vegetables every day." Lu Ning touched his chin, then shook his head mockingly.

In this bitter cold winter, everything is dying and not even a blade of grass grows. There is no way to farm. I can only think about it.

Lu Ning came to the corner of the dilapidated house that had been demolished in half, counted the food stocks piled here, and then picked up a berry.

"There are still thirteen berries left and almost two days' worth of meat left. Hmm... the reserves are worrying."

Lu Ning was chewing berries while calculating: "Although you can now take red stones with you when you go out, and if you are lucky, you can also use a fire set to make a fire on the spot to keep warm... but the distance you can walk in each direction is still limited. Now

I have explored the east, west and south directions, but I have only yet to see the steeper road in the north.

"Looking down from the cliff, this road is not only difficult to walk, but also shady and windy. The exploration may not go smoothly...

"So exploring this road will consume more physical energy. There's nothing wrong with eating something before setting off, huh."

Lu Ning found an excuse for himself, quickly swallowed the berries in his hand, then picked up his luggage and went out.

Although these words seem to be completely trying to make up for oneself, in fact... they cannot be said to be wrong.

As mentioned before, the cliff where Lu Ning is located is located on the highest mountain nearby. To the north is actually a steep slope under the cliff. It is difficult to find a path that can be walked, not to mention that Lu Ning is wearing

A set of rags, and a lot of exploration equipment such as slings, red stones, hand axes and flints were carried on the body.

It's a pity that the materials are not enough, otherwise Lu Ning could try to make himself an animal skin backpack - this thing does not require blueprints, it is not difficult to make a simple and usable sample just by relying on imagination, but the materials need to be used first to make tents

, so Lu Ning can only make do with it for a while, and wait until he saves resources.

With his hand ax stuck on the mountain wall, Lu Ning, who was not very skilled but brave, climbed down from the cliff and landed on a protruding rock. After calming down, he turned back and looked down, trying to find the next place to stay.
