Chapter 2 Shilu: Looking for the Rose in My Heart

"Miss Marshall." A white hall, spotless.

William held the sword in his hand, but did not draw it out. His shoulders were steady, and his chest was whitened by the sun.

Standing directly opposite William was Marshall dressed in simple clothes. Her blond hair fell softly, and her eyes seemed hesitant, but flickered with persistence.

She pursed her lips and said, "Mr. William, Uncle Charlie said, let me learn swordsmanship from you."

"Well..." William nodded slightly and lowered his right hand from the hilt of the sword without any expression at the corner of his mouth. "King Charles asked me to teach you swordsmanship. This is not bad."

"However," he paused, "before contacting swordsmanship, we need to clarify what the sword in our hands, or the sword you will wear around your waist in the future, is used for."

Suddenly, Marshall's expression turned ferocious inexplicably, her fists clenched tightly, and her body could not help shaking with anger.

"Of course to kill all those who killed my father-"

William interrupted her with a smile: "Miss Marshall, we might as well calm down, but I believe you won't be able to now."

"How can I calm down!" Her tone sounded like she was crying.

William stretched out his hand, raised the corners of his mouth, and carefully held the ray of golden sunshine in his hand.

"Then, let us first explore what Miss Golden Rose wants."

Zhi——

The sunlight, as clear and transparent as water, suddenly solidified.

What flowed on William's palm were five golden magic lines, opening and closing as if they were breathing.

In Marshall's eyes, it was a real piece of gold because of how perfect it looked!

"What are you seeing now?" William said softly.

Marshall: "That's a piece of gold, gold made from sunlight."

"Why does a piece of gold suddenly appear out of the sun? It's really strange, isn't it? So, let us continue to look at it."

William's hand took the piece of "gold" easily, and it seemed to have no weight at all.

Under Marshall's surprised gaze, an indescribable rustling sound erupted from this golden solid body.

"This is--"

"-Shh!" William smiled and put the index finger of his left hand to his mouth, signaling her to be quiet.

puff!

That's a real, golden bud!

Just like clean water washing away mud, a large piece of "gold" inexplicably twists and shrinks under the sun!

"This is what I will pursue." William's voice seemed to be muttering.

Immediately, a golden rose rotated and opened from the bud, and the rest of it turned into a slender flower stem, which was held in William's hand.

"It is what I have dreamed of." William said vaguely.

"What is it?"

Suddenly, the rose trembled suddenly and stabbed forward as William shouted!

Fragile petals, mixed with translucent veins, bloomed in front of Marshall!

That is the breath of the stamen, the trembling golden color.

It was extremely quiet in the hall. When the dust fell to the ground, the rose in William's hand was intact and swaying slightly.

"This is what I am pursuing." William smiled and threw the golden rose to Marshall who was not far away.

"Mr. William?"

"Miss Marshall, before we pick up the sword, we need to know what we are pursuing, and the golden rose in your heart is still waiting for you." William never drew out the sword on his waist.

The pattern on the handle glows silvery white in the sunlight.

"What do you mean?" Marshall was a little confused.

"Then, please practice pricking this rose. If you are like me and don't let a petal fall, then I will immediately take you to pick out a handy sword to practice swordsmanship. If it doesn't work, then wait a little longer.

Wait, I will take you there in a month at most."

This rose feels so light that you can't even feel its weight.

Marshall gently played with the thin petals with his fingers and said nothing.

It looked very solid, after all, even if she pulled it out hard, she still couldn't remove a single golden rose petal.

"Marshall, let's start." William ordered.

"Yes." Marshall followed the example of a gourd and took the same horse stance as William before. He grabbed the stem of the rose with his right hand and slightly arched his body backwards.

"Hey!" With a low voice, Marshall's right hand was instantly unsheathed!

Wow——

"Huh?" Boundless golden petals fell one after another before Marshall's shocked and disbelieving eyes, as if there was no connection between them.

She stared blankly at the petals swaying in the air, flying up and down, and finally fell to the floor of the hall.

In her hand, there was only a bare golden flower stalk.

"What...is going on?" Marshall murmured, looking at William constantly.

"Because the rose in your heart has not yet taken shape." William smiled and waved his hand, and the rose petals that fell on the ground floated up again, and were inserted back to where they should be one by one.

"What do you mean, the rose in my heart?" Marshall touched his chest and said in confusion.

"Because you are Miss Rose. However, you are still young now, so it is understandable that you do not understand this. But you said at the beginning that you should be as beautiful and sharp as a rose."

"What does that have to do with this?" Marshall suddenly became angry and felt that this guy was playing tricks on him.

"Don't be angry," William said sternly, "My master taught me the same way at the time."

"so what!"

"Since I was seven years old, I practiced for twelve years before I was allowed to hold a sword."

His pupils shrank suddenly, Marshall clenched his hands and bit his lower lip.

"Mr. William, why is this?"

"In these twelve years, I have found the most precious thing about myself, and it is also what I pursue." The corners of William's mouth were slightly raised, looking very gentle in the sunshine.

"what is that?"

"That's..." A gentle sadness flashed in the corner of his eyes, "Love, lust, and her future, and of course freedom."

"It's very selfish, I actually used this reason..." William continued, "That's why I didn't stay in the Brotherhood for long and became one of the mayors of the Mercenary Association because of freedom."

"And now, even this only existing freedom has been taken away."

"Mr. William..."

"That's okay." William shook his head seemingly indifferently, "And you, Marshall, don't be blinded by the hatred in front of you. Think about it carefully. I hope you can calm down during this repetition."

"Yes..." Marshall lowered his head and stared at the rose that had long since recovered in his hand.

call!

She lands the first stab!

The petals were scattered, not a single one was left.

William on the side was unfazed, with the same smile still on his lips.

laugh!

Second note!

It was still scattered all over the floor, falling like snowflakes in Marshall's somewhat annoyed eyes.

"King Charles... and Ivanni are brothers, but they are very different." William said with a wry smile.

Unsatisfied tears fell from the corners of Marshall's eyes and hit the floor of the hall, making a splashing sound.

Next, he thrust out stubbornly, but of course, his efforts were in vain.

"...Ho!" Marshall seemed to have drained all his strength from the thrusts one after another.

Looking at her unwilling, lonely, yet lonely eyes, William seemed to see himself back then.

"Oh, I miss you so much." William simply snapped his fingers, dragged the chair next to him out of thin air, and sat down quietly.

"Woo..." For some reason, the tip of his nose was horribly sore, and inexplicable pain and panic flowed freely through Marshall's veins.

The accumulated feelings were finally released.

What is she pursuing?

I don’t know how many times later.

A rainbow-like look appeared in William's eyes.

It was a petal, which did not slip from the pole. It seemed to be slightly away from it, swaying, but it did not fall down.

"Hoo...!" Marshall gasped, his body convulsing.

She no longer knew whether the sweat or tears on her face was sweat.

She finally laughed, her tears turning into laughter.

"Mr. William."

"You did a good job." William clapped his hands as a sign of approval, and his refreshing voice echoed in the empty hall.
