Chapter 9 Stealing food

Author: Wen Jiutao

Jiuli and Qilang walked in the village one after another.

It was dinner time, and every house had its doors open, and people were busy going in and out.

Ruan Qilang has a sweet mouth and a warm personality. In fact, many people have beaten him, but he doesn't remember it.

When passing by several houses, Ruan Qilang shouted, "Second uncle, second aunt, have you eaten?"

They did not respond to Ruan Qilang, but they focused their attention on Jiuli. When they saw Jiuli fetching water, their expressions were like seeing a pig climbing a tree.

Jiuli pretended to be invisible and continued walking forward.

Later, many villagers in front, no matter what they were busy with, heard Qilang's warm greeting and quickly looked up at Jiuli.

Jiuli was smiling and didn't feel any discomfort.

Under the elm tree not far away, an old couple was busy choosing vegetables. While they were choosing vegetables, they threw some of the red ones onto the road.

Jiuli passed by not far away. She sniffed her nose hard and said, "Why does it smell like medicine? It's red flowers."

Qilang pointed to the hidden corner and boldly guessed, "The second grandpa and grandma in front must be sorting out the herbs."

"oh?"

"There are many medicinal herbs on Xianxia Mountain. Except for a few doctors who dare to pick them, there are many mountain people who do not know the poisonous effects of medicinal herbs and can kill people, so they dare not pick them indiscriminately."

"Second Grandpa, why do Second Grandma dare to pick it?" Jiuli was confused.

"They don't dare to, or they save the ones they see often and throw away all the others."

"What a waste." Jiuli said with some regret.

"There is nothing wasted. Not only him, but everyone in the village is like this. If you collect herbs for a day, you may only be able to use one or two pills. Later, no one went to the mountains to collect herbs."

They turned the corner and saw an old couple sorting out herbs under a tree. Most of them were thrown to the roadside.

When Jiuli passed by, he put down his burden, bent down and grabbed the licorice, red flowers and wild chrysanthemums that they threw on the ground. He shook his head regretfully and said, "Good stuff."

When the two of them looked at Jiuli's eyes, they were not surprised.

"Second Grandpa, Second Grandma, are you sorting out the herbs?" Qilang hurriedly greeted them.

The old couple seemed not to have heard and continued chatting, "Idiots still know what a pity it is. This Qilang follows behind every day, and his brain is not functioning properly due to the infection."

After the second mistress finished speaking, she turned to Jiuli and said in a joking tone, "What a pity, just take it home and give it to your old Mrs. Ruan."

Jiuli was not polite, she actually knelt down, picked up the herbs on the ground, and stuffed them all into her sleeves. There were many that couldn't be put away, so Qilang put down his burden to help, and the two of them took them all away.

Looking at the backs of the two siblings, the second mistress shook her head and said, "No wonder Jiuli can't find her husband's family. They are absolutely stupid! Don't come to us if you want to kill someone."

"Qilang is not much better. He is young now and doesn't know how to worry. If he can't find a wife in two years, he will know that his brain is a good thing."

The old couple sighed at their backs, and then told some interesting stories about Jiuli. The old man was made to laugh.

Anyway, no matter where he went, people looked at Jiuli strangely.

After the two of them entered their yard, Ruan Qilang comforted Jiuli and said, "Sister, these people are praising us behind our backs. You don't have to be afraid. These people have all fought with me. If they have any grudges, they will remember it."

It doesn’t happen to me, nor to my sister.”

"Sister, I don't care." Jiuli said with a smile while pouring the water from the bucket into the water tank.

Jiuli put down the bucket, turned around and went to get disinfectant from the house, but Qilang was gone.

Jiuli was a little anxious. She called out, "Qilang? Qilang?"
