Chapter 117: Shi Ye

 Chapter 117 Shi Ye

The weather is extremely hot, mugwort must be burning around you, and the incense burner is still rising in front of you. Even if a bhikkhu is patient, he will inevitably be unable to bear it.

"Relics, all dharmas are empty. They are neither born nor destroyed, neither dirty nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing."

Some monks have already chanted the "Maha Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra".

People with a little knowledge of history may wonder, before monk Xuanzang came back, the translation of "Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra" came out?

There are seven translations of this Buddhist sutra, the most famous of which is the version translated by Xuanzang and Kumarajiva of the late Qin Dynasty, which is the one I am reciting now.

Altars are usually on higher ground and have been leveled, but there are no trees for shade.

Even if a monk becomes a monk, he is still in the category of a normal human being. He has not even attained Sotapanna. How can he transcend the suffering of the world?

Sitting on a futon, knocking on wooden fish, and chanting Buddha's name again and again, my patience was almost exhausted.

Seeing that the situation was not good, Duweina earnestly chanted the "Buddha Speaks of the Sea Dragon King Sutra" translated by the Dharma Protector of the Yuezhi Kingdom during the Western Jin Dynasty.

"When the Dragon King heard this, he was delighted and asked: What does it mean for a Bodhisattva to eliminate all evil destinies? What does it mean for a Bodhisattva to transcend all difficulties? What does it mean for a Bodhisattva to be born in heaven and on earth..."

After four volumes of sutras, Duvina's mouth was dry from reading, but the bright sun was still burning brightly.

There was no wind, the air was hot, and the sky was hopelessly blue, without even a trace of white clouds.

"Because of the strength of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, all dragons are ordered to pour heavy rain in this Jambudvipa to remove the five types of rain obstacles."

During the Sui Dynasty, "The Buddha Said the Sutra of Generous Waiting for the Great Clouds to Call for Rain" translated by the Tianzhu Tripitaka Master Jana Hideta was chanted, but the effect is still disappointing.

Fortunately, Buddhist people, hard to say anything else, usually have very good patience. They worked in vain for ten consecutive days without complaining.

Duvina asked the other monks to go back to the temple. He was next to the altar, watching with a calm face Chen Junian of Xuandu Guanjianzhai ascending the altar.

Yellow brown, lotus crown, yellow skirt, peach wood sword and talismans are displayed on the bill, and Chen Junnian's appearance is somewhat elegant and fairy-like.

There is no need to hold a memorial ceremony because of the existence of the altar.

After the servants finished cleaning up the altar, Chen Junnian began to offer the talisman that played the Dragon God. It was written with a red pen on ivy paper, so it was also called Qingci.

Yes, it is the Qing Ci that Yan Song was good at writing in the Ming Dynasty.

"Tao said: I tell all sentient beings that I have spoken of the Wonderful Sutra of All Heavenly Dragon Kings and Gods. You should burn incense and recite it for three days and three nights to summon the heavenly dragons. When there is drought, there will be rain. Even if there is thunder and lightning, there will be no harm."

Chen Junian chanted "Taishang Dongyuan's Sutra of Inviting the Rain Dragon King", various handprints changed, and although the sky did not change, it seemed to be a little cooler.

The Sutra said that for three days and three nights, Taoist priests from Xuandu Temple took turns delivering speeches on "Tai Shang Dong Yuan's Sutra of Inviting the Rain Dragon King".

It’s the third day!

Du Weina of Daxingshan Temple changed into a monk's hat and quietly watched Chen Junnian take the stage.

Chen Junnian glanced behind him imperceptibly. Fan Zheng, the supervisory censor, was chatting and laughing with Wo Hao, the doctor of the ancestral temple. He seemed not worried at all about the failure of praying for rain.

After chanting "Tai Shang Dong Yuan's Sutra of Inviting the Rain Dragon King" and offering sacrifices to the youth, Chen Junnian picked up the peach wood sword, stepped on the Tiangang Steps, and coordinated the swordsmanship, hand seals, and footwork, which inexplicably heightened his style.

"Master, the wind is blowing!"

A Ping Guan, Huang Pei's first disciple of the Taoist sect, jumped up happily.

Yes, the wind is blowing, but the wind is not strong and can only make the leaves sway slightly.

Duvina's eyelids were twitching wildly, and his heart was full of unwillingness.

Why do I try so hard to pray for rain but get no response?

It's been three days, and if I have the audacity to say that it was Daxingshan Temple's previous contribution, it can't be justified.

Wo Hao was overjoyed.

The continuous lack of rain made him feel extremely uncomfortable, not only physically but also professionally.

If praying for rain does not come, we should continue to offer sacrifices to the country and pray to the ancestral temple once every seven days. If this fails, we can only offer yú sacrifices.

Wu is a special ritual for praying for rain. Its origins can be traced back to the Shang Dynasty. In addition to regular prayers at fixed times, there are also sacrifices due to drought.

The emperor and the princes presided over the Yu sacrifice. The princes were called Yu, and the emperor who presided over the sacrifice was called Dayu.

If this trick goes down, Wo Hao himself will be exhausted and Yongzhou will also suffer this year.

Looking at Fan Zhengyun's calm appearance, Wo Hao asked curiously: "Why are you not excited at all?"

Fan Zheng chuckled: "Because it's May now!"

Wo Hao didn't understand what Fan Zheng said, so he didn't care, he was happy and respectful!

The wind picked up, bringing a faint chill, and three clouds as black as ink floated in the north from the direction of the Wei River. They seemed to be particularly heavy, and the wind could hardly push them.

The Taoist priests are trying to control their emotions and cooperate with Chen Junnian in chanting sutras.

The Yuanwai Lang of the Ancestral Department Department, the Chief of Staff, the Lingshi, the Lingshi, and Zhang Gu were all very happy.

The arrival of the rain should be a certainty, and the Tailao ceremony must be offered at that time. The next three sacrifices should be divided and taken home to coax the mother-in-law and the baby?

The wind suddenly became violent, the branches and leaves swayed desperately, and the rustling sound made people feel happy.

The rain finally fell, from a stingy drop of one or two to as dense as the beat of a drum.

The loess under your feet eagerly absorbs the rainwater. The land that used to raise a layer of dust when you step on it becomes mud when it gets wet. If anyone takes a step, the soles of his shoes must be thick with mud.

The tree, whose leaves were once covered with thick dust, became refreshed and its green leaves showed a strong sense of vitality.

Duweina sighed, turned and left.

If you lose, you can't stand up.

It’s not that skills are inferior to others, it’s time, momentum, and destiny!

There are many factors involved in praying for rain. In professional terms, one can argue endlessly and even call a deer a horse.

However, Daxingshan Temple has remained silent.

No matter how eloquent you say it, the facts are right in front of you, as well as the certification from the Ministry of Rites and Ancestral Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education.

The reason why the dispute between Buddhism and Taoism has existed for a long time is that in addition to different beliefs and purposes, incense is an unavoidable topic.

Whichever company has the upper hand at a certain period of time will inevitably have a large number of believers switching over.

Don't laugh. Although people in the Tang Dynasty had devout believers, most of them were utilitarian. They only worshiped gods and Buddhas to seek blessings, safety, promotion and wealth. What they believed in in their bones was their ancestors.

Daxingshan Temple lost only half of its believers and turned to Xuandu Temple across the street. This was the most annoying thing.

It is estimated that Yu Wenkai was ordered by Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty to design the situation where the temples and temples were facing each other in order to suppress each other.

The temple master, Your Majesty, Duvina was relatively speechless.

The ins and outs of the matter are already very clear. The supervisory censor of Dunhuafang proposed that Buddhism and Taoism compete for merit. There was a Taoist priest Qin Ying around the prince who planned it, so he hoped that the youngest ten days would return to Buddhism.

Mana is a very mysterious thing and it's hard to say, but Chen Jinian probably took advantage of it.

Thinking about it with hindsight, praying for rain is also coming from behind!

But no one thought that it all started with the expulsion of the incense sellers in Dunhuafang.

Come, come, come, drink this bowl of Yuanxiao wine, and move forward with your head held high!
