Chapter 7 Death and Rebirth

Author: A little white whale

There is no struggle, people die very cleanly.

This is the truest aspect of the world. Violence is the bond that maintains social stability, so there is nothing surprising about killing people.

Perhaps only the purest mind can feel fear. The close horses neighed and stood up, but were quickly soothed by its master with excellent riding skills.

"Let's go." Duke Ed said muffled. Although the laws of the kingdom were enforced, it was obviously not a thing that made him happy.

The silent people turned their horses and headed in the direction they came.

Clay heard Duke Ed talking in a low voice with his youngest son Bran who had been watching for the first time. At this time, Ed Stark took off his serious mask that belonged to the guardian of the North and began to play the role of a kind father.

He had just told the guard captain that he had asked the man who was loyal to the Mandalay family to take two guards to go to the wolf forest to obtain the tender skin of the sentinel tree for himself.

Although he did not understand the young master's intention, the captain of the guard still resolutely carried out the order. When Duke Ed ordered his return, the three men and three cavalry left the large army and plunged into the endless wolf forest.

The horse's hooves slowly moved forward, as if showing that the owner was in a bad mood.

Clay was indeed very upset. He knew it was 298 years of conquest, but he never thought that he would kill the night watchmen deserter so quickly.

Originally, in his plan, he borrowed this trip to Winterfell to find out the relationship between the fish beam tree, which is what the people in the north call the heart tree, and the old god faith that has been rooted in this land north of the Neck Siege for thousands of years.

Before, in the Shenmu Forest in Baigang, there was a young and low heart tree there. When Clay touched it, he felt a little power flowing into his body along his arms, and his magic pool also swelled a little.

Clay believed that when he was allowed to touch the oldest heart tree in Winterfell, the magic pool would be replenished enough.

But now the plan must be overturned, and Clay is clear that the execution means that the execution will inevitably die from the poisonous killing of Little Finger Pettyr.

King Robert I, who overthrew the Targaryen dynasty, must have taken his court to the King's Avenue to Winterfell.

Clay is undoubtedly a small character now, and it is impossible to influence Duke Ed's decision. Once the wolf heads south, when the unprepared stag and direwolf are bitten through the throat by the lion, the battle between the five kings will be a foregone conclusion.

The people of the North regarded honor above everything else. Robert Stark led his army south, and Clay could not not participate, but when he thought about the captive nobles in the North, and the Stark family who died of the bloody wedding of Frey's betrayal, Clay felt cold on his back.

He is not the gods. Since he is in this game of throne, he is mostly surrounded by the general trend, leaving him with little time to break the deadlock...

The two brothers Jon Rob, who had already run away from the horse, stood on a short hill and shouted loudly at the team: "Sir, Bran, come and see what we have found!"

...

In the deadly silence, Clay saw the two corpses entangled on the bridge. The giant wolf, which was so big that he was surprised, was pierced by deer antlers while biting the buck. No one dared to speak with Winterfell, who was very sensitive to the family emblem.

People in the North believed in the gods, so they also feared the gods. The bloody picture in front of them, which was so obvious that everyone was afraid, except for Clay.

Clay arrived late, and the five little wolves were already being carried out, huddled in the arms of Bran and his brothers.

"This is a bad sign, born with death." Clay heard someone muttering.

Theon Greyjoy, with a cynical smile on his face, pulled out the sword from his waist and said to his nominal brother Bran:

"Bran, those things don't live long, throw them over to me!"

Clay has always disliked Theon, especially his long face that always had an annoying smile. He blurted out without thinking:

"It's not your wolf, it's your business!"

The originally quiet bridge now has become a slightest needle. Everyone's eyes looked at Clay. Theon was stunned for a moment, and then he became angry and his shaky sword blade pointed at Clay's horse head.

It was probably because he was not sure of the force, and the tip of the sword stabbed Clay's mount on the cheek. The horse was frightened and suddenly stood up and leaned back. Clay, who was caught off guard, was suddenly lifted out.

After rolling on the ground in a mess, Clay stabilized his body. He looked at Theon Greyjoy who was grinning and laughing silently. He felt a surge of anger in his heart. Clay's hand, which was never angry with birds, had touched the sword that fell aside...

Seeing that the young master was taken off the horse, the surrounding Mandalay family guards subconsciously reached their hands to the hilt of the sword around their waists, but at Ed Stark, they did not have the courage to draw their swords.

"Say it again, Mandalay boy!" Seeing that no one was talking, Theon became even more arrogant. He was just about to say something ugly. A sharp hand and half sword flashed with cold light and roared straight towards him in front of him.

Sir Roderick, who was just about to step forward to stop Theon, subconsciously blocked the sword. A crisp sound of impact was heard. The elderly Jazz took two steps back, leaving only a broken sword that had broken a large gap in his hand, and the weapon that Clay threw at all was shaking and inserted into the open space in front of Theon's legs.

"Stop!" Duke Ed shouted loudly, kicking his adopted son to the ground.

"Take him back to Winterfell." The Winterfell guards raised the pale face and had a little incontinence. Theon hurriedly left the place.

Duke Ed glanced at the broken sword in Sir Roderick's hand, and looked at Clay who had calmed down with a strange look. He didn't ask why he drew his sword, but instead asked:

"Mandalay, why did you say that?"

Seeing that Duke Ed had no intention of exploring it, Clay breathed a sigh of relief and said in his heart that he was impulsive and replied:

"It's just the corpses of wolves and deer. Why do you have to be unable to get along with the surviving wolf?"

"This is a dire wolf, and it has never appeared south of the Great Wall." Robert interrupted.

"I know, if that's the case, what I want to do the most now is to pull out the dire wolf's teeth, find a lion to penetrate it, and throw the lion's body into the sewer of Kai Rock City." Clay shrugged.

This ended with the extremely rare laughter of Duke Ed, who asked his children to raise these little direwolfs themselves, oh yes, and the white wolf belonging to Jon, who no longer mentioned anything about Clay and Theon.

On the way back, bathed in the friendly eyes of everyone in Winterfell, Clay noticed that Robert, who was riding beside him, was constantly moving his teeth involuntarily, as if he was testing whether they were sharp...
