Chapter 5 No smoking allowed!
Director Restrade doesn't like Sherlock.
In addition to the above two points, of course there is the third point, the fourth point, and even the many, many points behind it.
Even if this detective once caught the murderer who raped the director's daughter and slapped the other party in front of him, he still hated Sherlock.
Because he could clearly feel that this guy was not arresting criminals for justice, he was not even for money, because he habitually made those criminals look indescribable; although criminals have no human rights, they can't let them die in prison, and they can't let them appear on the execution ground in a miserable manner that is enough to "disturb the hearts of the people".
It costs a lot of money to deal with such things, which makes Sherlock get very little bounty every time.
but!
He still enjoyed it and continued to do so. The Restrade Bureau seriously suspected that he arrested the criminals to vent, relieve boredom, or any other shameful reason.
"If my daughter's soul hadn't been a little grateful to you, I would have listed you as the most vicious criminal!" the director cursed with anger.
Sherlock smiled disapprovingly: "Come on, I have dealt with many troublesome criminals for you over the years. You are clear about it, and you can't put me in the ranks of criminals. I have never violated the law of the empire at least, you have never caught evidence."
Restrade held his breath!
Indeed, there is no evidence that Sherlock had committed a crime, but he knew that this guy was definitely the most terrifying and evil criminal, and he did something that was absolutely crazy than all the death row prisoners held in underground prisons combined.
But no one knows what he is going to do.
No one knows where he came from, how old he was, his past experiences, and even whether the name [Sherlock Holmes] is really unknown.
Everyone just knows that he claims to be a detective and lives in a small rental house on Baker Street.
Every once in a while, he would appear at the police station with the big blood-soaked suitcase, and then exchange a criminal who had been in the suitcase for eight lifetimes to get some bounty.
That's all.
And if you ask him what he usually does, or ideals, goals, and why he wants to be a detective, he will only spread his hands with a natural attitude and answer with a smile:
"Life is too dull, I just don't want my brain to rust, just have some fun by the way."
Time passed for a few more minutes, and Restrade didn't ask any more questions. Anyway, the bastard in front of him would not say much until the Blues cigarette burned out bit by bit.
"Ka~Ka~Ka~"
In the corridor outside the lounge, a series of footsteps suddenly sounded, from far to near.
Director Restrade and Sherlock looked over at the same time. Immediately afterwards, a tall nun and a thin, hunched old man appeared at the door of the reception room.
It was Miss Catherine and the priest.
Restrade immediately stood up and respectfully stood up.
And at this time, Sherlock was still sitting.
This is not because he wanted to show a cold and disrespectful attitude in front of the Holy See clergy, but because his eyes fell incredibly on the modified body-shaping nun suit!
And finally, it was rare to show a hint of embarrassment and shock.
"Let's go, Mr. Holmes." Catherine looked at him with her head slightly raised: "Time doesn't wait for anyone."
The sunset passed through the gaps in the car window, and the dust in the air was like strange tiny creatures, making people unconsciously want to hold their breath.
Sherlock sat in the carriage, with thick wool blankets on his butt and feet;
He never expected that he would get on the carriage of the Holy See in this way, and even more unexpectedly, the nun he met before had such a high status.
Looking out the window, there were still crowds of people in the noisy square. This is the Lower City area. Wherever you see, most of them are porters carrying wooden boxes and newspaper boys shouting barefoot. There are several women wearing exposed clothes in the alley next to the tavern. I think their business this month must be not very good, otherwise they would not have come out to attract customers at this time.
The axles of the carriage were loaded with shock absorption technology, and there was no turbulence at all. Along the way, I passed several urban checkpoints and huge gear lifting doors, and the noise gradually faded away, and the convoy arrived at the Shangcheng District.
The streets became wide and flat, and the buildings on both sides showed solemnity and regularity. Some exquisite metal pipes cling to the walls, like carefully trimmed ivy, shining in the weak sunset.
After about half an hour, the sun finally completely concealed his body and the gas lights turned on, and the carriage stopped.
Sherlock walked off the carriage with a little sleepy sleepiness. The wind was a little cold at night. There was a clean street in front of him. Perhaps because it had been blocked for a long time, there were no pedestrians around. Only the security guards in steam armor were patrolling everywhere. The heavy steel collided with the bluestone pavement, covering up the high-pressure steam sound that ejected from time to time.
"Sir!"
Seeing the carriage, a sheriff rushed over quickly, clenched his mechanical arm on his left chest, and half-kneeled in front of Catherine.
This is the inherent etiquette of subordinates in the church to their superiors, but the steam armor is too thick, even if you half-kneel, it is still much higher than Catherine.
"Master Priest."
He respectfully saluted to the thin old man who had just gotten out of the car. But at this moment, his eyes accidentally crossed the shoulder of the old priest and saw Sherlock behind him.
The gas lamp above his head just pulled his shadow very long, and Sherlock happened to take out a cigarette and light it.
The sheriff's eyes were about to pop out!
Even if the commander is right in front of him, he can't hold back his throat:
“Don’t smoke here!!!”
