Chapter 61 Spider End Alley
The sun is often not seen in winter, and clouds occupy the entire sky. A few days ago, a cold wave swept over, and it fell a lot of snow. The gloomy weather made the brick houses under the snow look more dilapidated.
Charles never expected that Penny said she would take her to a place early this morning, but after getting in the car, she kicked the accelerator and drove to the suburbs of Corkworth, parked the car next to the old Evans house, and then walked to Spider-tail Alley.
On the way, Penny said to Charles: "I heard that a wizard has a way to hide the house from ordinary people to discover it. If his house is the same, you still need your help to find it."
Charles didn't know what expression he should have at this time. He was taken to the teacher's house the next day on holiday. Is it better to cry?
As it turns out, Penny's judgment is correct.
Charles and she were walking on the cobbled road, lifeless around them, and they found that there was an extra house at the end of the alley at some point.
The curtains in the house look old and reveal some lights.
Penny stood outside the house for a long time, as if she was calming down her mood. After a while, she came forward and knocked on the door.
The door opened, Snape's face, which was lower than the temperature, appeared behind the door, and his black eyes looked at Penny with questions.
Charles squeezed out a smile and greeted him: "Good afternoon, Professor Snape."
Snape just glanced at him, then continued to quietly look at Penny, who was a little panicked, without any intention of letting the guest enter the room.
Penny mustered up the courage and said to him: "Snape, I am Penny, I want to talk to you about Lily."
Charles, who decided to eat melons throughout the journey, saw Snape's face change slightly, then he leaned to make way.
The two walked into a room that was more gloomy than the weather. When they entered the door, they saw a small living room, surrounded by bookshelf.
Charles didn't know if Snape had to pay the water bill, but it was certain that he didn't pay the electricity bill. There was a light with candles hanging on the top of the living room.
Snape pointed to the woolly sofa and signaled the guests to sit down and sit on an equally old armchair.
He had no intention of speaking, but just looked at Penny with a gloomy face, and by the way he treated Charles as air.
Charles looked well-behaved, and did not look around, but just looked at the table that was probably not strong.
Penny probably spent a lot of time drafting what to say for today’s meeting. Although she was a little nervous, she didn’t have much impact when she said it: “Snape, I heard that Lily was betrayed by someone.”
This time, not only Snape shivered, but Charles was also shocked.
Charles thought Penny was too brave, and he could inquire or speculate that Snape told Voldemort about the prophecy.
Snape's face changed. He glanced at Charles and asked Penny without emotion: "Who told you about this?"
Penny gritted her teeth and said, "Dumbledore told me not long ago that Lily and the others had originally hidden themselves through some of your wizard's magic, but the person who kept the matter secret betrayed them and told the murderer where they were hiding. Is that true?"
Snape felt relieved when he heard her asking about this, and he was a little worried if she knew something earlier.
But after thinking about it, Penny, who knew about that, would not be able to contact Dumbledore not talk nonsense.
Snape said something about that year with a sarcastic sarcastic recklessness: "James Porter, a self-righteous arrogant maniac, thinks that everyone will do things as he wants, and that he can control everything in the world. He regards a Death Eater who is hidden deeply and loyal to the Dark Lord as a friend, and entrusts his and Lily's lives to him. He did not expect that the friend he most likes will immediately sell them to the Dark Lord."
After he finished speaking, he saw Charles nodding, obviously agreeing with his statement, thinking that this child has a future, so he would urge him to learn potions more next semester, such as adding more homework.
Then Snape became sad: "I heard that the Dark King went to where Lily was and rushed to the scene, but one step late, she had already fallen to the ground and could never get up again."
The dim and narrow living room quieted down, only Penny sobbing.
Penny wiped her tears and said to Snape: "Thank you, Snape, thank you. I didn't expect that after hearing the news, you were the only one to rescue Lily. It would be great that Lily could have a friend like you."
Charles saw Snape's face change a few moments, and said in surprise: "It turns out that you are so brave, you dare to go against someone who can't even mention the name for your good friend!"
Now Snape has a little bit of affection for this kid.
Charles was watching the fun without much trouble. At this time, he did not expect that in the first potion class of the next semester, he was fined a month's confinement for stepping into the potion classroom first for his right foot.
Next Penny asked Snape again: "Can you tell me the name of the person who betrayed Lily?"
Snape said coldly: "Sirius Black."
Penny whispered and repeated it, just like Dumbledore said.
She then asked Snape: "Can I write to you in the future? Use an owl. I want to know something about Lily at Hogwarts, and I asked Charles to ask you."
When Charles heard this, he looked at Snape depressedly. Penny asked herself to ask the Hogwarts professors about Lily's past, but when she asked Snape, she flew out of the classroom.
Snape glanced at Charles, did not agree or reject it.
Penny seemed to have accomplished her goal today, and she said goodbye and left without a reply.
If you stay there, it's time for dinner. Snape hasn't made a pot of tea until now, and probably won't prepare dinner. If you sit down like this, you may have to starve to death together.
After walking out of the house, the gloomy sky actually made Charles feel enlightened.
When she walked to the door of the next house, Penny said to him: "Charles, can you go back to the car first? I want to be alone."
Charles understood her mood a little, nodded and left alone.
Penny stood there alone, watching Charles disappear in Spider-tail Alley, and turned around and Snape's home disappeared.
She picked up a pebbles on the ground and threw them towards Snape's house just now. It looked like a wall at the end of the alley.
Half a minute later, the angry Snape appeared as if he had walked out of the wall.
Before he got angry, Penny asked him: "Charles didn't ask me one thing just now. Can you take me to meet Bright?"
Snape sneered and replied: "No."
