Chapter 2 Blind Night

Author: Braised Egg Expert

More than a month later, Lu Chengfeng's injuries had healed, but the whiplash on his face was no better than the others. The prison guard had been so cruel, and the scabs left a long mark, from the left corner of his eye to his lip.

There was a faint pink color on the side, but it somehow fit in with her silence.

Le Nu's assessment is very important. It relates to whether the girls here have the ability to serve nobles. After a month of practicing music theory, Lu Chengfeng is still a mess, but he has never hurt his hand again.

The assessment has ended. Yu Changying flipped through the list and nodded with satisfaction: "It's not bad, you, and you... you two will be called out of the Lefang Division starting tomorrow, go and prepare."

The two girls stood up happily, their faces unable to hide their pride: "Thank you, Director!"

The temperature in mid-March begins to change unpredictably. In the early morning it is cold enough to chill your hands, but by midday it is so hot that you can't help but take off your outer clothes. Repeatedly, it is a headache.

Lu Chengfeng was assigned to clean the bookcase again today.

Dan Fu was chewing melon seeds and leaning on the couch, his expression indignant and unwilling to hide.

Why can those two cheap hooves leave the music studio? But I can only stay here and do menial work! I don’t know what benefits they have given the director!

Dan Fu looked angrily and glanced around. Lu Chengfeng was tidying up his desk by the window. She became disgusted and shouted: "Lu Chengfeng, come here!"

Lu Chengfeng put away the messy books on the table, stood up and walked towards Dan Fu before stopping.

Dan Fu squinted: "Lu Chengfeng, tell me, am I good-looking?"

Lu Chengfeng nodded: "It looks good."

"Then why can't I come out of the orchestra to play music for noble people?"

Lu Chengfeng stood upright with a dull expression: "I don't know."

Dan Fu snorted and sat up, convinced that Lu Chengfeng was easy to bully: "Don't dare to say it? What are you afraid of? I won't eat you!"

Lu Chengfeng didn't answer.

For more than a month, Lu Chengfeng always had this half-dead look, just working hard and doing whatever he was told. Even if he occasionally spoke, he always acted like a mute.

Dan Fu was already angry, but looking at her behavior, the long scar on her face was so conspicuous, her slightly angry face suddenly relaxed when touched, as if she had found an outlet, and she said bitterly and sarcastically:

"Your face is scarier than a ghost. I'm afraid you'll die of old age in this music studio. Are you going to be scared by your own face when you look in the mirror?"

Lu Chengfeng raised his eyelids.

"I heard that you don't know anything about music, chess, calligraphy or painting. You grew up on a horse and learned martial arts?"

Lu Chengfeng looked at her blankly, then looked away, looking elsewhere.

Dan Fu became interested instead, and asked curiously: "Lu Chengfeng, did you know in advance that your father opened the Subei Banyan City checkpoint to collude with the enemy?"

"I also heard that your eldest sister and concubine both hanged themselves in the sky prison. Why didn't you die?"

Lu Chengfeng's eyes fell back on Dan Fu.

Dan Fu leaned forward with a smile and asked maliciously: "Lu Chengfeng, are you afraid of death?"

Lu Chengfeng's eyes flashed, his expression was like a pool of stagnant water, and he said, "You're right, I'm afraid of death."

She turned around to pick up the bucket, opened the library door and went out.

Dan Fu sighed in disgust: "I don't know how to praise you!"

The lifeless days passed for another ten days. Spring began in April, and the weather began to get hotter during the day and colder at night.

After nightfall, Dan Fu sneaked from the corridor of Lefang to the wall of the backyard. Surrounded by water pavilions and covered with flowers and grass, she carefully wrapped her cloak tightly around her body, looked around, and pushed aside the grass to go out.

Lu Chengfeng was leaning on the corner of the rockery, his eyes so dark that they looked like they were stained with ink. She curled her lips silently, withdrew her gaze and returned to the house.

On the second day, Lu Chengfeng paid special attention to Dan Vo's actions all day long. She was talking and laughing with others with a rosy face. She even hummed while washing clothes, and seemed to be in a good mood.

A few days later, Lefangsi was shrouded in silence, with the moonlight pouring down, and the cold wind. Dan Vo put on a black cloak and quietly walked into the dog hole.

Lu Chengfeng followed him. Outside was a secluded alleyway, with a row of tall trees covering the hidden exit. It was quiet all around, but there was a bustling crowd in the distance.

Lu Chengfeng followed Dan Fu, always keeping a distance. When she saw Dan Fu entering a small door of a mansion, she raised her eyes and looked around warily, then jumped and landed inside the wall.

When she first took a look at the appearance of this mansion, she knew it was not a place for ordinary people to live. The lights were dim and there were servants patrolling the house at night. She avoided the guards and found where Dan Fu was. As soon as she got closer, she heard a moan.

Lu Chengfeng looked calm and raised his hand to gently open the window slit. From here, he could clearly see the situation inside the house.

Dan Fu's urgent and unbearable voice came, so delicate and charming that it was hard to resist: "Master Fan... Young Master..."

Lu Chengfeng exited the same way.

It is a big mistake to go out without permission in Lefangsi. Dan Fu is so unbridled. It seems that she has been having an affair with Master Fan for more than a day or two. No wonder she wants to come to Lefangsi like this. I am afraid she is rushing to prepare for Fan.

The young master acts as a bed-warming maid.

Just after turning the corner, at the end of the quiet lights beside the arch, a purple figure stood lazily leaning against the door, blocking Lu Chengfeng's path.

The corners of his mouth were curled up in a half-smile, and a closer look revealed that he looked about seventeen or eighteen years old, with a tall figure and a handsome face, and a pair of peach-blossom eyes that were dangerously upturned.

If the scene were different, Lu Chengfeng would probably sincerely praise such a handsome young man, but now that he was blocking his way, it was obvious that he was coming with bad intentions.

Lu Chengfeng subconsciously took a step back.

The young man noticed her movement and sneered casually, his eyes firmly locked on her: "How brave, how dare you break in!"

Lu Chengfeng's face turned pale, and he said timidly and with great fear: "This... this young master, I'm really sorry. I'm here to look for someone. You don't remember the faults of villains, please spare me."

The young man crossed his arms: "Looking for someone?"

Lu Chengfeng pointed to a place and said, "Look for the woman who came here."

The young man raised his eyebrows and said, "Are you from Lefangsi?"

Lu Chengfeng: "Yes."

A trace of disgust flashed in the young man's eyes, and his tone was a bit colder: "How dare a dog from Lefangsi touch my garden? You really have the heart of a bear and the courage of a leopard!"

It would be wrong to say anything at this moment. Since he didn't call the escort, he obviously had some scruples. Lu Chengfeng didn't want to offend anyone, so he lowered his eyes and said nothing.

The young man seemed to have thought of something, and looked strange for a moment, then said: "You are from Lefang Division, but I heard that someone new has joined Lefang Division recently?"

Lu Chengfeng blinked: "A few new women have come in and committed crimes."

The young man coughed unnaturally: "Is there any woman in her twenties?"

Lu Chengfeng couldn't help but secretly wonder, could it be that this young man liked someone older than him and didn't dare to go to Fengyue place due to his status, so he set his sights on Lefang?

Lu Chengfeng had a lot of thoughts in his mind, but his expression was very natural: "I really don't know. I just joined Lefang Division not long ago, so I really don't know the age of others."

The young man was silent for a moment and then lowered his voice: "Isn't there..."

He quickly returned to his previous expression and said with disgust: "I'll spare you this time, but remember, you owe me a life. When I want your life, I will naturally send someone to do it."

Pick!"

There was a sound of footsteps in the corridor outside the arch, and more than one person could be heard.

Lu Chengfeng nodded obediently: "I understand."

Lu Chengfeng walked forward quickly. She was sensitive to smells. When she stepped away, she smelled a faint smell of wine. It was Shaoxing Nuerhong, an aged wine.

Lu Chengfeng was about to turn the corner.

"Wait a minute." The young man stopped him, as if he had just remembered: "What's your name?"

Lu Chengfeng was stunned for a moment. She couldn't lie about this question. If one day this person looked at the band roster on a whim, he would be able to tell the truth tonight.

She quickly replied in a low voice: "Lu Chengfeng."

A voice came from the corridor: "Jiuxiao, what are you doing standing there? Do you want to drink anymore?"

Two men who were obviously quite drunk walked up to the young man and saw that he looked strange. One of them couldn't help but asked: "What's wrong? He looks like he's lost his mind? Is he a ghost?"

Xie Jiuxiao's expression became normal in an instant: "It's okay, go back and continue drinking."

It was late at night when Lu Chengfeng returned to Lefangsi. She was lying on the bed thinking about the young man who blocked her way tonight.

Jiuxiao?

Lu Chengfeng thought about the city of Yanjing, but she had lived in Subei all year round, which was a hundred and eighty thousand miles away from Yanjing. She was extremely unfamiliar with the people and things here. She really didn't know whose son this young man from Jiuxiao was.

Without any clue, there was a sound of sneaky footsteps coming from outside.

Lu Chengfeng opened the door a crack, and Dan Fu was carefully returning to his room wrapped in a cloak.

In a deserted place, Lu Chengfeng's expression became very intriguing. She looked at Dan Fu's disappearing figure, and when she thought about it, she quickly had a vague guess in her mind.
