Chapter 52 Barren

Author: Li Zhaozhao

The principal took her to a small room on the second floor of the bamboo building. The bed and wardrobe were all second-hand, but they were kept clean. There was a small yellow wild flower placed on the maroon solid wood table.

The navy blue sheets, quilt and pillows are all new, and there is a faint smell of sunshine permeating them.

Touching these pieces of furniture, Yun Ruozhi's heart suddenly fell, and he landed in this village called Xiaohuazhai.

After she packed her luggage, she heard someone calling her, "Teacher Yun, are you ready?"

People here respectfully call her teacher.

When she got off the bamboo building, the students picked a red bayberry from the nearby tree and handed it to her shyly and carefully.

Little hands stained with mud

Yun Ruozhi took it with a smile, put it in his mouth and bit it gently. The sweet and sour juice burst in his mouth. He wanted to touch their heads, but they shyly avoided them.

The air is natural and the people are simple.

The principal took her to visit the school's classrooms. Two fair-looking college students came outside, one boy and one girl. The girl was wearing a fashionable gauze skirt and a mask on her face, but her eyes were smiling.

The boy has a pair of short-sighted eyes, is thin, gentle, and seems to be easy to get along with.

After getting to know each other, the boy’s name is Xu Xing and the girl’s name is Yuan Li.

They were all assigned from language majors in universities in this city. Like her, they were sent to rural areas because they did not have a teaching qualification certificate.

The two of them thought that Yun Ruozhi had been here for a few days, so they surrounded her curiously and asked her about the situation here.

Yun Ruozhi just smiled and shook his head, "I just arrived, so I don't know anything, but there should be nothing wrong with it. The scenery in the mountains is beautiful, and the children are very lively."

Yuan Li is more introverted. When she saw the dilapidated teaching building and the endless green mountains, she sighed in disappointment, "I wish I had worked harder and got a teacher qualification certificate. I was born in the mountains, okay?"

It’s easy to walk out of the mountains, but you’re back in the mountains again.”

Xu Xing's brows were relaxed and he didn't have any dissatisfaction. "Anyway, I only stayed for one year before going back. We brought knowledge with us this year, and maybe more people will go out in the future."

Yuan Li nodded, her eyes still filled with helplessness as she sighed, "That's true."

Yun Ruozhi listened to their conversation without interrupting, but just smiled quietly.

That night, Yun Ruozhi finally no longer had insomnia or nightmares.

Perhaps it was the fatigue caused by the long journey, or perhaps it was the quilt that smelled like the sun, which made her feel relaxed and happy. As soon as she lay down on it, she hugged the quilt and slept until dawn.

She got up early the next morning, prepared lessons all morning, and went to the classroom to teach the students in the afternoon.

Teaching and educating people is a solemn and meaningful thing for Yun Ruozhi.

The class bell rang, and she stood at the door, with the soft sunlight hitting her body. She slowly exhaled to express her inner tension, and then walked into the classroom with a smile on her face.

In the small classroom, there were beads of sweat on the children's faces, and some were breathing heavily, as if they had just come back from playing wildly. The students in this class were of different ages and were studying the same third-grade curriculum.

Their eyes were fixed on the new teacher, and their hands were folded obediently on the old desk. Each of them tried to leave a good impression on the new teacher.

The teacher looks fair and clean, and very pretty, with a standard sweet face. Some little girls can't help but show envy in their eyes.

Yun Ruozhi picked up the chalk, turned around and wrote his name on the blackboard one stroke at a time.

Then he turned around and introduced himself generously, "Hello, classmates, I am a new teacher. My name is Yun Ruozhi. That is my name written on the blackboard. You can call me Teacher Yun. So please

Guess what I'm here to teach you?"

The sudden interactive session made the children very excited, but they rarely got into chaos, but raised their hands in an orderly manner.

This was something Yun Ruozhi didn't expect.

She quickly ordered the little girl in the middle. The little girl stood up and said in a low voice: "Teacher Yun, I guess you teach Chinese."

"Wrong guess." Yun Ruozhi shook his head gently, "But you are very courageous. What is your name?"

"Horse flower."

"Mahua-san is great!"

After standing for a long time, the little girl became timid and embarrassed, so Yun Ruozhi asked her to sit down.

I clicked on several classmates one after another, but no one could guess the subject she taught.

Only then did she announce the answer, "Students, I'm here to teach you English. Have you ever learned English before?"

The children all shook their heads.

Yun Ruozhi nodded, turned around and finished writing on the blackboard.

Warm light comes from the frame window of the classroom. This place is not like Qiongshan. There is no fiery temperature. It is mild all year round. The children are the only sparks in the desolate mountain.

In Xiaohuazhai's school, for the first time due to the arrival of a new teacher, there was enthusiastic reading in English.

The bright classroom and the children's laughter make up the whole scene.

Suddenly, it seemed as if the ravine between the city and the mountains had been smoothed.

After the afternoon class, Yun Ruozhi came to the cafeteria. The food in the cafeteria was obviously not that delicious. The cabbage was clear with water and a few pieces of fat floating on it. It was the only smell of meat in the whole place.

Almost none of the children here have round bodies, and it is common to be pitifully thin. Their little eyes are almost all fixed on the pieces of fat, hoping that the aunt who cooks can put the meat into their bowls.

There is also a saying about how to prepare the food. The rice is enough to eat, but the vegetables are only a little bit. The children will ask the aunt to pour more vegetable juice on the rice.

There were not even stools in the cafeteria. In order to prevent the desks in class from being stained with oil, I squatted on the floor and ate very satisfactorily.

When it was Yun Ruozhi's turn to cook, she held an exquisite small porcelain bowl.

The cook aunt knew that she was a new teacher, so she put a piece of white and fat meat into her bowl.

After eating Yun Ruozhi, the meat became fat and greasy.

Normally she would not be able to swallow it, but now she takes a big bite.

It was not because the food tasted good, but because the environment was poor and she felt bitter in her heart.

It was just a taste that could be swallowed, and the children ate it for so long.

No need to think about it, Yun Ruozhi also knew why.

The school is poor.

Her life was too comfortable in the past, and she didn't know that there was such a poor and poor soil in another place in the world.

But fortunately, every household is diligently planting vegetables and other vegetables. Except for the necessary activity areas in the school, all the schools have been opened into vegetable gardens.

Although the children's food is poor, at least they are guaranteed not to starve.

At night, Yun Ruozhi lay on a small bed made of wood, her hair floating on the quilt, and the whole house was filled with the fragrance of bamboo.

She turned on her cell phone, called Gao Xin, bit her fingers, and searched for keywords such as seats and benches on Taobao.
