15. Statue of the Celestial Master

Before Mouse could think about it, I rushed over in three steps at a time. After a closer look, it turned out that the man in white was actually a paper figure burned to the souls of the dead, because just now we were frightened by our hasty escape from the graveyard.

I was so scared, and it was dimly lit here that I couldn't see it clearly, so I mistakenly thought it was something else. But as I got closer, I saw it more clearly. The facial features of this paper man were painted by the craftsmen very vividly. It can be seen that the paper man is

This master's craftsmanship is amazing.

I turned around and said to Mouse who was still at a loss: "Brother Hao, please don't make this matter public when you go back. Otherwise, people will laugh to death. The two gentlemen were so stunned that they were almost scared out of their wits by the paper man."

I used to call this courtyard a house inappropriately. The mouse broke off a few pine branches at the door. The pine wood contained grease and was lit with a lighter to make two simple torches. The courtyard where the torches illuminated looked dilapidated.

Broken bricks, broken tiles, and spiders abound. Maybe it was because we had watched too many horror movies before, so we didn’t rush into the main hall in the courtyard. We looked at the ruined scene in the courtyard separately. We were lying on the wooden door there.

There is a statue of a god attached to it. Although the person in the painting is holding a paper fan, he has a leopard head with ringed eyes, an iron face and curvy temples. He is dressed in a big red robe and wearing high-flying boots. He looks like a ferocious figure that is intimidating.

"Tiezi, didn't Zhang Fei use the Zhangba Snake Spear?" Mouse stood behind me at some point and asked.

If I hadn't been with this guy and got used to his nonsensical expression, I would have wanted to find a hole to crawl in. I smiled bitterly and said, "Brother Hao, it's terrible to be uneducated! Flying your sister? This is a statue of the Heavenly Master."

I saw that he scratched his head as if he didn't understand, and quickly explained before he asked anything disrespectful: "The Celestial Master is Zhong Kui, who is also known among the people as the Lord of the Houses and Stars. He suppresses ghosts and exorcises evil spirits."

"Ah, you just said that Zhong Kui got it, and you followed the folk customs with me, but look, my darling, no one has been here in this courtyard for many years, even in the wind and rain! What's the portrait on the door?

Does it look like a real person? Look at this dye, it must be good stuff, 80% of it and the paper man were made by a master."

I shook my head: "Probably not. Those who make paper figures are folk artists who make money from dead people. In the early days, those who could draw statues of gods had to be authorized by the government, and they would even have the seal of the official workshop. Speaking of the history of Tianshi statues

The most famous painting in the world is by Wu Daozi of the Tang Dynasty. Wu Daozi’s painting of Zhong Kui is truly lifelike, but it’s a pity that not many of them have survived.”

When he heard what I said, he was about to take action. I quickly stopped him and asked him what he was doing.

"If this is really Wu Daozi's, we brothers will be crazy. Hurry up. Don't be polite. This can be considered to make up for your Brother Hao's death in vain."

"You idiot, did you get kicked in the head by a donkey? How could it be Wu Daozi! I'm just saying it. Don't touch it. The statue of the Heavenly Master is not just put up casually. It's on the barren mountains and ridges. Maybe we will fix it tonight.

You really have to rely on Master Zhong! Have you discovered anything over there?"

He pointed to the outer wall and told me that there were murals on the outer wall, but the murals were a little dim. I took a look with a torch and saw that the entire outer wall of the courtyard was actually colorful. Although it had been invaded by wind and sand over the years, it still remained the same.
