Chapter 2 Want to dig Cordyceps

People in Qingyang generally get married early, and many young people are in their early twenties and have several children.

Because the Li family is poor, the children get married relatively late.

Basically, you can get a wife after marrying a girl.

The bride price can be passed in your hand just once.

When the eldest sister gets married, the eldest brother has a wife.

The second sister got married and the second brother had a wife.

The sixth sister got married, and the seventh brother had a wife.

The eighth sister got married, and the youngest brother was about to start a family.

Only he, the old fifth person, was vacant.

It’s not a question for the family members. Originally, Lao Qi’s wife introduced him to him, but when he saw the girl, he didn’t dare to raise his head honestly, so the girl fell in love with Lao Qi and ended up with Lao Qi.

When the younger sister got married, her younger brother Li Mushan was also at the age of marriage, and Li Muyang gave up the opportunity again.

Then……

He couldn't raise enough money for the bride price for a while. As he got older, his brothers and sisters couldn't stand it anymore, so he found a way to raise some. He borrowed some more before he could barely collect enough money and welcome Lin Xiuli into the house.

The bride price was only 170 yuan at that time. First, the father-in-law and mother-in-law valued others' honesty, and second, Lin Xiuli was indeed older, which made him "take advantage."

...

"Lao Wu, why are you doing so early?"

Li Muyang was already very slight, but his mother Yuan Sufen was still awakened.

She is now hemiplegic, with no sense on her left body and can move on her right half. Seeing that the sky outside the window was still dark, she asked her son worriedly.

"I woke you up, mom."

Seeing that his mother had woken up, Li Muyang felt relieved to start wearing clothes, and his movements were a little larger.

It is the transition period for early spring and summer. The temperature difference between day and night in the Loess Plateau is very large. It can reach a maximum of more than 20℃ during the day, and only four or five degrees from night to dawn at dawn.

Li Muyang specially wore a cotton drill inside to press the wind.

A cotton drill is a cotton vest.

After putting it on, tie the hem to the waist of the pants, and the mountain wind cannot penetrate the body.

Li Muyang has had a hard life since he was a child and has a bad stomach. He will suffer from a little cold.

Although Qingyang is in the lower reaches of the Loess Plateau, there are still strong winds, especially during this transition period, mountain wind can blow to level 8 or 9, and children can be blown away.

My mother told a legendary story of Li Muyang.

When Li Muyang was two or three years old, he followed his mother to the field. When his mother was busy working, she put Li Muyang in the mountains and played by herself, and kept watching.

While working, I suddenly heard neighbors shouting: "The earth arrows have kidnapped the child away." When I looked up, I found that Li Muyang had been blown into the air by earth arrows, that is, "tornadoes", or tornadoes, and floated dozens of meters away.

She hurriedly took off her shoes, and didn't care that her feet were pricked and bloodied. She followed the earth arrow and chased after them. After catching up, she threw the shoes at the earth arrow, cursing: "Where are you going to roll my son with shameless long tongue?"

Only then did Li Muyang fall into the haystack and be carried back by his mother.

People in Qingyang rumored that earth arrows, that is, tornadoes are actually a monster with a long tongue, who likes to eat children. After meeting them, they must use their shoes to suck them. When they smell the odor of the shoes, they will be smoked away.

Li Muyang guessed that he was swept away by a tornado, because many people in the village would mention this matter by accident, saying that his mother's feet were thorny and bloody at the time, but she still ran with her little feet and ran desperately with her earth arrows, which hurts when she looked.

A long tongue often appeared in his mind, blood-red, and rolled his body around.

I don’t know if it’s because I think about it on a day and dream about it at night. If I talk too much, it seems to be true.

But from the side, the mountain wind is not small, and he must pay attention to it.

Yuan Rufeng couldn't turn over, so she could only look at her son wearing clothes halfway, "I should wake up too. At this age, half of her body was buried in the loess, so how could she sleep? You're getting up so early, what should I do?"

"I want to go to Xishan to see. The snow has just fallen to see if I can dig a few Cordyceps."

"That thing is not easy to dig, and we don't produce that thing here. There are more mountains in our hometown."

The Cordyceps that Li Muyang mentioned is Cordyceps sinensis.

It is a precious Chinese medicinal material that uses fungal parasite eggs, symbiotic and finally replaces insects to achieve self-improvement. It is widely used in medical research and clinical use in many fields.

Growing on high altitude plateaus.

The best Cordyceps sinensis is produced in snowy areas. The second level is Cordyceps in Qinghai and Gansu, and the worse is Cordyceps in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan.

Mainly affected by altitude.

Cordyceps sinensis refers to a type of larvae called bat moth. In winter, their eggs hatch into larvae underground, and Cordyceps mushrooms parasitize them.

After a winter of nutrient absorption, when the insects are completely hollowed out in April and May of the next spring, the fungus will grow grass buds from the insect's head and extend out of the ground. This is the best time to pick.

Because bat moth is a kind of insect that likes to live in extremely cold and cold areas, its eggs are only available at high altitudes. Cordyceps sinensis with low altitudes will show its buds on the insect body in advance due to environmental influences such as temperature, so the color is very poor and the useful ingredients are not good.

There are not many places in Gansu that produce Cordyceps sinensis, mainly concentrated in Longnan, that is, the area in Gannan.

Qingyang belongs to Longdong, with a relatively low altitude and a highest position of only two or three thousand meters. It is not suitable for Cordyceps survival, so Cordyceps cannot be seen.

But there is an exception to everything.

The winter of 1987 was much colder than before, causing many insects that rely on temperature to complete migration and transfer to lose their discrimination. Somehow, they lived on the West Mountain for a while.

So from 1988 to 1993, Cordyceps sinensis could be dug out from the west mountain. After 1993, Cordyceps sinensis was completely dug up, and no Cordyceps sinensis was found since then.

Li Muyang clearly remembered that many experts and scholars were still collecting samples on the West Mountain at that time, saying that they were discovering new varieties of Cordyceps, which may break the inherent thinking that Cordyceps can only survive on peaks above 4,500 meters above sea level.

No one expected that the Cordyceps here would be a flash in the pan.

Li Muyang remembered that there were many out-of-towners who bought Cordyceps in the village at that time.

It is said that a pound of Cordyceps can be purchased for 500 yuan.

After hearing this, the villagers rushed to the mountains to dig, and those who were lucky also made a fortune.

But later people learned that there is actually a medicinal material purchase supply and marketing cooperative in the town. If sold to them, one pound can be sold for 800 yuan.

Selling it to medicinal materials dealers is obviously a loss.

Li Muyang was also a member of the army of digging grass. By the time he found out, there were already many more people digging, and from the front to the back, he had dug less than a hundred.

The Cordyceps here is of low quality, with an average of four grams, which cost about 20 yuan.

The people who started early in the village are said to be able to dig up more than half a pound, and sell them for two or three hundred yuan. The bachelor married his flawed wife directly.
