Chapter 31 Family

 Zilin Road Community

Lucy parked the car in front of the garage, opened the door, and got out of the car. She held a medium-sized grocery shopping bag in her arms, which was filled with some food bought from the supermarket.

On the other side, Jeremy and Lilith also opened the car door and jumped out. Lilith was still complaining: "Mom, Jeremy has occupied the tablet and won't let me watch cartoons."

"Jeremy, you were the one using the tablet all the way, and now the tablet belongs to Lilith."

Mother gave the result as a referee.

"Oh, okay."

Although Jeremy was not happy, he could only do it.

But a child's energy is boundless, and he soon turns his attention in another direction.

"Mom, have you ever eaten bugs?"

What?

Lucy almost thought she heard wrong, but when she saw Jeremy's eyes, she thought about it and said, "Uh, no, honey, you can't eat that thing."

"But Bell from "Into the Wild" has eaten it. He said it tastes a bit like chicken. I really want to try it."

"No, never."

Lucy felt a chill. Children of seven or eight years old are very curious, and she was afraid that Jeremy would actually eat a bug and show it to her.

Lucy was thinking about how to make Jeremy give up this terrible thought, but suddenly stopped.

When Jeremy saw his mother stop, he looked over in confusion. Lilith only looked at the tablet and bumped directly into her. When the two of them looked up, they saw Lucy making a silencing gesture towards them.

Lucy gently put down the groceries in her hands.

The two children consciously covered their mouths and hid behind their mother.

The door was ajar, but Lucy clearly remembered that she had locked it when she left in the morning.

Damn agency!

Before I bought a house, the agent swore to me how safe the community was. Who would have thought that a burglary would happen just a few days after moving in?

But Lucy is not worried. She is a girl who grew up in Texas. She used to carry an M4 when going to the supermarket. Now it should not be a problem to deal with a little thief.

Enter the door carefully, then go straight to the kitchen and find the hidden gun box.

When she came out again, she had a Remington Home Defense M870 in her hand.

Shotguns have always been the first choice of American home defense weapons. They are cheap, easy to operate and powerful enough.

After carefully walking through the corridor, Lucy saw the uninvited guest in the living room.

The other person's back was turned to her and he was admiring the photos on the wall shelf.

A "click" sound of loading sounded from behind, and then Lucy's slightly threatening voice came: "Take your dirty hands away from the photo frame, turn around slowly, let me see your hands, I

I don’t think you would want me to open a hole in your back..."

Lucy's voice was cold, a warning without any emotion, and the gun in her hand was pointed at the opponent.

The other party turned around and saw the smiling face, and Lucy had a speechless expression on her face.

"Jack speaks loudly~~~"

The two little guys behind him rushed out and threw themselves into Jack's arms.

Jack also picked them up and lifted them high.

"Lilith, Jeremy, do you miss me..."

"Of course I have, Angkou, have you brought us a gift..."

Jack's head was full of black lines, "Of course I brought it, but, little guys, I ask for gifts as soon as we meet. Aren't you polite to me?"

Jack said and gave the children another lift, which caused the children to burst into laughter.

Although he is a time traveler, he has also inherited the emotions of the original owner and is very close to his only sister, nieces and nephews.

"When did you come back?" Lucy asked at this time.

"Just arrived today."

"Don't have surprises like this next time. I don't want to kill my only brother with my own hands..."

"Yes, but should you change the lock? I opened it without much effort."

Lucy gave him a look, turned off the safety of the shotgun and put it in the corner. It was obvious that the relationship between their siblings was very good.

"Are the children still used to it at school?"

"It's okay. Lilith has made some friends, but Jeremy is not so good. He is always called a parent."

"Why?"

"Prank."

"Haha, boys are always naughty."

"What did you buy? Are you giving these to the children?"

Jack saw that the shopping bags were all filled with fast food or semi-finished products. Well, how should I put it, it was very American.

Lucy shrugged, "You know my craft."

"Okay, I'll do it at noon."

Generally speaking, foodies are good at cooking. After all, they should be able to live up to themselves when not eating out.

"Avocado, avocado pudding?" Two little guys ran over. Jack had made it for them before.

"I'm afraid this is a bit difficult." Jack looked at the available ingredients. "How about I make another Russian delicacy for you. I guarantee you will like it. Okay, you go and play first. It will be ready in a while."<

After sending the little guy away, Jack started to work. He was going to make shawarma, the kind of burrito he had eaten in Moscow before. The children should like it.

Jack was busy in the kitchen, Lucy was helping, Lilith ran back to her room, and Jeremy was watching "Into the Wild" in the living room.

"How are the neighbors?"

"It's not bad. The neighbors nearby gave us small gifts on the day we moved in. They are all very nice people."

Lucy shrugged and handed a washed plate to Jack. Jack took it, wiped it with a cloth, and put it on the table.

"There are several families in the community whose children go to the same school as Lilith and the others, and everyone gets along well. Sometimes, when the bureau encounters an emergency and is unable to pick up the children, they will help pick them up."

"Still working as DEA?"

Lucy nodded. She initially worked as a DEA in Houston, but Lilith had asthma, so she moved to the West Coast, where the climate is better. Considering the education issue, she chose Los Angeles.

As night fell, the children finally tasted the Russian delicacies that Angkou talked about.

Instead of letting them eat it one by one, Jack put it on a plate and cut it into several pieces. The children thought it tasted good, but Jack always felt that something was missing when eating it this way.

"Well, it's delicious. Can you make one more for me to take to school tomorrow?" Lilith asked crisply.

Jack readily agreed. For a chef, nothing makes him happier than praising his craftsmanship.

His sister Lucy was more interested in his life during this period.

Jack picked out something he could talk about. His sister's family didn't know his real job, and they thought he was working as a tour guide in Europe.

After the meal, the brother and sister were responsible for washing the dishes. This is also a consistent tradition. Everyone chatted while working.

"Jack, have you ever eaten beef eyes? Bell said it tastes a bit like ice cream. He dares to eat anything. I admire him very much..."

Jeremy's voice came from behind, and Lucy was shocked by what he said.

Bell and I are inseparable.

Jack was also shocked. Children of this age must be properly guided, otherwise they can really do anything.

He himself remembers that when he was around Jeremy's age, he did a lot of shitty things, skinning frogs and attaching firecrackers to cats' tails. These were all things he did back then.
