Chapter 37: Merit, people eat each other.

 "Wukong, come."

When Fa'e spoke, the eyes of the eighteen monks and Huitong were all focused on Tu Fu.

"Okay."

Tu Fu was no stranger to this kind of thing. He heard Huitong, Wu De and others mention it more than once, so he raised his feet and came to the body he had just discovered.

This is the corpse of a middle-aged man. There are many patches on the clothes. The body is thin and covered with frost and snow slag. Before Huitong's master Wu Song pulled it out of the snow, only half of his palm was exposed.

Outside.

"I'll freeze to death or starve to death."

After hearing Wusong's judgment, Tu Fu was a little curious.

Wusong noticed Tu Fu's eyes and explained: "The face is sallow and the muscles are thin, and there are no wounds. I used my true energy to check and found that the abdomen was empty."

That’s right.

Tu Fu nodded and expressed with his eyes that he had accepted the teaching. He clasped his hands together and worshiped devoutly. This was to show his respect to the Buddha.

Then he sat cross-legged next to the corpse, raised his hand to take off the rosary hanging from his neck, crossed his hands, and started chanting the sutra while flipping the rosary.

"Namo Amitabha Night, Duotaga Duo Night, Duo Di Night Duo..."

This is the scripture of the "Rebirth Mantra". It is a mantra that the monks and believers of the Great Buddha Temple recite daily. It can also be used to save the souls of the dead.

In the past year and a half, Tu Fu not only practiced martial arts, but also chanted sutras every day like other monks in the Great Buddha Temple.

According to the female ghost who has not revealed her name to Tu Fu so far, the scriptures that Buddhists recite and practice, including the Great Buddha Temple, are all handed down from Lingshan, the transcendent realm of Buddhism, and have existed since the previous era.<

/p>

Not only Buddhist classics, but also Taoist classics, as well as Confucian classics, most of them are like this.

After reciting twenty-one times in a row, Tu Fu stopped.

Twenty-one times is not a rule, but a habit. If you want to recite the Rebirth Mantra on weekdays, you should purify the three karmas, take a bath, rinse your mouth, be sincere and single-minded, burn incense in front of the Buddha, kneel down and put your palms together, and recite it twice day and night.

Eleven times.

According to the monk who lectures on the sutra, if you can recite this 200,000 times, the seeds of wisdom will sprout. If you can recite it 300,000 times, you will be able to see Amitabha Buddha.

After calculation, it will take thirteen years and nearly twenty years respectively.

Tu Fu actually wanted to verify it, but reciting twenty-one times in the morning and evening was too small. Due to the various rules and requirements when reciting sutras, especially the 'sincerity and single-mindedness', he really couldn't do it for twenty consecutive years.

We can only wait for Faren to come out of the Demon Suppression Tower and ask if anyone in the Great Buddha Temple has seen Amitabha in this way. Although Amitabha is not the 'omnipotent' Tathagata Buddha that Faren said, since he is

Buddha, it should be about the same, right?

"Not bad."

Fae gave a shout of approval. From Tu Fu's chanting, he could hear Tu Fu's sincerity and single-mindedness.

He knew the experience of Tu Fu very well and thought it was very rare.

"Nothing is empty, the fortune is plus one."

Fae's praise was not just empty talk, he also gave a reward, and a monk nearby recorded it.

Tu Fu is no stranger to this, he has heard of it before. The so-called merit is actually the ‘currency’ of the Great Buddha Temple, which can be used to exchange for some resources.

Wu Ke said before that he borrowed money and repaid it because after becoming a monk, he would have the opportunity to gain more merit.

Unfortunately, Wuke's enlightenment practice did not go smoothly, so he didn't have many opportunities to go down the mountain, do good deeds, and gain merit.

There are monks nearby who have already dug the grave. Although the snow is heavy and the soil is hard, it is not a problem for these monks of the Great Buddha Temple who are already in the enlightenment state. And they came out this time with the corresponding tools.

.

It was buried in the ground without a monument.

During the process, Fae began to preach.

"Although not all people who die in vain will become ghosts. After all, the underworld and the six reincarnations have their own great power and can absorb the souls of living beings. However, when encountering such corpses, they still have to be saved and buried.

Transcendence is to resolve grievances and prevent people from the demon sect from trying to give birth to ghosts and control corpses. Burial is to avoid the occurrence of great epidemics. Although it is cold and freezing now, there will always be a time when the snow melts, and then the corpses will rot and there will be wild beasts and insects.

If you are not selective about what you eat when you are hungry, diseases are likely to occur and be passed on to living people.

In addition to wild beasts and insects, there are also..."

Fae hesitated for a moment, then looked directly at Tu Fu and said, "There are still people."

Tu Fu frowned. He knew that Fae's preaching was mainly aimed at him, because he was the only one going down the mountain for the first time, and everyone else had gone down the mountain before and done similar things.

Huitong, who had not been with the monks before, should be a 'treasure'.

"Uncle Master, what you mean is..." Tu Fu looked at Fa'e and asked directly: "Who would eat such a corpse?"

"Not bad."

Fae nodded slightly, raised his steps, and signaled Tu Fu to follow him, and continued to move forward in the heavy snow, with the others following closely behind.

"When a person is extremely hungry, he can eat anything. Compared with leaves and weeds, people's... meat is more filling!"

Tu Fu was silent.

This was not the first time he had heard of 'cannibalism'. People in Linxi Town would occasionally mention demons like 'eating people's hearts'. However, these two types of 'cannibalism' have extremely different characteristics.

Big difference.

Eat people because you are hungry?

Tu Fu, who has been considered a well-dressed and well-educated person since he was a child, really doesn’t know what to think, how to say, and how to treat him.

Phae's preaching continues.

"Although eating people is a helpless way to starve to the extreme, it will indeed cause many negative consequences. I heard that you have medical skills passed down from your family?"

"Yes, there are some, but I'm not good at learning."

Not good at studying?

Then how did you poison Ma San in the Body Forging Realm? And leave Faren in the Bigu Realm helpless?

Fa'e did not go into details, but continued: "If you have a chance, you can go to Yaowang Palace to find some uncles and masters to learn more and gain skills."

Medicine King Hall is a hall of the Great Buddha Temple. It worships the three Medicine Buddhas, Sunlight Bodhisattva and Moonlight Bodhisattva, also known as the Three Saints of the East. As the name suggests, it is a place for the study of medicine.

When Tu Fu was injured in the previous martial arts competition, he went to the Medicine King Palace for treatment.

"Thank you, uncle."

Tu Fu was surprised when he thanked him. When Faren sent him to the handyman's room, he said that he had family inherited medical skills and wanted him to work as a handyman monk in the Medicine King Palace, but he was rejected.

Now he is asked to go down the mountain and go to Yaowang Palace again. Is the ban lifted?

Or is it because he knows more and more about the female ghost, and Monk Mingxin feels that he is more likely to become a demon, so he wants to save himself?

Thinking about it this way, Tu Fu felt that it was not him that Monk Mingxin wanted to save, but Faren who had been in the Demon Suppression Tower for a year and a half.

If I am really possessed by a demon, Faren will definitely be the most miserable.

Fae didn’t know what Tu Fu was thinking, nor did he explain why he suddenly ‘lifted the ban’ and preached seriously.

"Yao Wangdian is convinced that cannibalism will cause diseases, whether it is eating corpses or eating living people. Moreover, it is the kind of disease that can be transmitted.

When someone is extremely hungry and encounters a corpse that is well preserved due to ice and snow on the road, and puts aside all thoughts of ethics and morals and chooses to eat the corpse, then there is the possibility of eating a living person. Since it is to eat a living person, it must be

The one who caused the killing.

I just said that not all people who die in vain will become ghosts who can stay in the human world. However, people who eat people are very likely to turn into evil ghosts and fierce ghosts when they die.

People who know that they will be eaten before they are eaten by others are very likely to become evil ghosts after they die in vain.

These are all disasters."

Tu Fu understood. Fae's preaching to him was not only about "eating man-made disasters", but in the final analysis, he was reminding him not to use any means for revenge as before. Revenge and unscrupulous means are both disasters.

Facing Fae's look expecting him to say something, he did not comment on what Fae had just said and directly changed the subject.

Asked: "Uncle Master, so we came out this time to prevent and solve these disasters?"

A trace of disappointment flashed in Fae's eyes, but he didn't think much about it. He just thought that Tu Fu didn't understand what he said.

"Yes, what we monks have to do is to stop and solve these disasters." After Fa'e confirmed, he sighed: "Uncle Jueyuan has calculated that this snow disaster is the worst in a century."

The best in a century?

Tu Fu suddenly felt a little depressed. Are the troubled times Tiandao Tower mentioned really coming?

But this is a natural disaster. What does it have to do with the arrival of the so-called Demon Ancestor?
