Chapter 30 Polluted Land

I don’t know if it was an illusion, but Cang Xiaoman felt a trace of spiritual energy reverberating in his mouth while drinking the matsutake chicken soup in the bowl that was almost fresh on his tongue.

I glanced at the blind girl next to me, who was already smacking her lips and about to drink the second bowl.

Cang Xiaoman supported Cheng Le to help serve the soup, and shrugged at the blind girl beside him, "Do you feel that this soup is a little special?"

"It tastes really good, doesn't it?" The blind girl smacked her lips with an aftertaste on her face, "Oh my God, if I had this skill back then, I wouldn't have been sent down the mountain by the master with just a few broken copper coins."

"No, I mean this soup contains..."

Before Cang Xiaoman finished speaking, Cheng Le came back with half a bowl of soup.

"I just added half a bowl. Grandma Zhang said she would eat soon, and she was afraid that you would not be able to eat her specialty dishes after just drinking soup."

The blind girl took the soup and said, "Don't worry, with Grandma Zhang's skills, even if you don't fight for a while, you will be polite!"

After a while, Grandma Zhang came to the courtyard again with a walking stick and said, "Lele, here you come to serve the food."

Even though Grandma Zhang is old and has bad legs and feet, she is really easy to cook. In just over an hour, six dishes and one soup were ready. A large pot of pickled fish, a bowl of steamed pork with rice noodles, and a stir-fried tomato

Eggs, a stir-fried pork with chili and two stir-fried vegetables.

Cheng Le placed a table of food on the stone table. Grandma Zhang sat down and enthusiastically greeted Cang Xiaoman and the blind girl to use their chopsticks, "Eat quickly, eat quickly, and try grandma's cooking."

The blind girl couldn't see, so she mostly put food in front of her when eating. Grandma Zhang couldn't see clearly because she was old, so she thought she was introverted and gentle. While touching the blind girl's slender arms, she babbled and put food in her bowl.

Dishes.

"Oh, my little girl, why are you so thin? You need to eat more... Only by eating more can you be healthy. This little face is so pale, it's really painful..."

The blind girl ate happily, and her grandma shouted more affectionately than Cheng Le. But while she was eating, the blind girl suddenly ate and spat out a mouthful of cabbage in an extremely subtle way.

"What's the matter, are you a picky eater? These green vegetables are so good. Grandma grew them at home without using any medicine. They were just picked from the ground and they are fresh..." Grandma Zhang said and took a bite.<

But as soon as this mouthful of food entered her mouth, Grandma Zhang's face drooped, and her expression became a little lonely.

"Grandma Zhang, what's wrong?" Cheng Le was afraid that the old man was choking, so he quickly stroked her back.

Grandma Zhang put down her chopsticks and sighed, "Oh, I'm old and still not convinced. You said yesterday that I made the wrong ingredients and I still don't believe it, and it's like this again today...the taste is bad."

"How could it be? I just put labels on all the seasonings yesterday..." Hearing what the old man said, Cheng Le specially picked up a chopstick to comfort Grandma Zhang.

But he never expected that the taste of today's vegetables would be even worse than the day before. After holding on for two seconds, he still spit out the vegetables in his mouth and ran to the nearby sink to rinse his mouth.

Cang Xiaoman is a full-fledged carnivore. She just indulged in eating meat, and she never tasted the plate of stir-fried cabbage that was quite far away from her.

Seeing Cheng Le's exaggerated reaction, some curious people also picked up a chopstick to try it.

As soon as the food was in my mouth, a strong odor filled my entire mouth. It was like rotten fruit that had been soaked for three days mixed with smelly socks. It almost made Cang Xiaoman burst into tears.

If we say that the matsutake chicken soup just now was full of aura, this stir-fried cabbage is full of rottenness.

Cang Xiaoman spat out the green vegetables that were bitten into two pieces and frowned. He dipped his chopsticks into the soup on the vegetable plate and took a sip. Although the taste was still unpalatable, compared to the green vegetables he had just eaten, it was so rancid.

The taste is still much lighter.

"This doesn't taste like seasoning..."

Cheng Le shook the water from his face and walked to the table, "Ah? What else could it be if it wasn't seasoning?"

Cang Xiaoman smelled several plates of vegetables, but this plate of green vegetables smelled faintly of rot, "It seems like there's something wrong with this dish."

Cheng Le looked at the green cabbage on the plate and said, "I dare not say anything else. Grandma Zhang grew all the vegetables in the yard herself. She has never used pesticides. Even the insects on the vegetables were caught by her. No.

Nothing fresher than this."

Cang Xiaoman took a closer look at the environment in the courtyard and found that there seemed to be a lot of insect corpses lying on the wall. Some of the plants planted on the ground obviously did not have the spirit of potted plants on the shelves.

"What's wrong?" Cheng Le followed Cang Xiaoman's gaze and looked at the vegetable garden.

Cang Xiaoman didn't answer, but just walked to the shelf aside, picked a red tomato and stuffed it into Cheng Le's mouth.

"Hmm!" Cheng Le bit the tomato that was stuffed into his mouth off guard, and a strong, sour juice with a rotten smell flowed into his mouth, causing him to rush to the sink to rinse his mouth again.

The blind girl squatted next to Cang Xiaoman with her rice bowl in hand, "What did you find?"

Cang Xiaoman picked another cucumber from the side and handed it to the blind girl's mouth, "Try it?"

The blind girl took out the copper coins in her pocket, threw them on the ground and touched them. Then she pushed away Cang Xiaoman's hand and said, "Master Patriarch told me, it's okay if you don't want to eat this melon."

Hearing this, Cang Xiaoman put down the cucumber and picked a berry from a potted plant of unknown variety, "What about this one?"

The blind girl rubbed the copper coins in her hand again, took the fruit and threw it into her mouth, "Except it's not overripe, it's pretty good."

Cheng Le, who had been poisoned twice in a row, walked back with a disappointed look on his face, and watched Cang Xiaoman and the blind girl excitedly discussing which berries were ripe and which ones unripe around a pot of small berries. It was a conditioned reflex.

I felt nauseated, "Is this fruit also spoiled?"

"No." Cang Xiaoman snatched the last ripe berry from the blind girl's hand and threw it into his mouth. He pointed to the land under his feet, "The ground is broken, so you can't eat anything grown in the yard, but the ones in the pots

It’s okay.”

"But obviously the tomatoes and scrambled eggs on our table just now were picked from the yard..."

"When was it picked?"

Cheng Le recalled that the tomatoes on the table for cooking seemed to have been picked by him for Grandma Zhang two days ago. The other side dishes were also picked when they were ripe. Only the green vegetables could not help being put in, and they were all needed every day.

When eating, pull it out of the ground.

"You mean, the vegetables in the field have all gone bad in the past two days?"

"That seems to be the case so far, and look at this..." Cang Xiaoman pulled the soil on the ground a few times with his feet, and the corpses of several insects were dug out of the soil. "I suspect there may be toxic substances in the soil now.

, causing plant lesions and the death of these bugs."

When Cheng Le heard "poisonous", she immediately felt a slight pain in her stomach, "What should I do? We just ate all the dishes!"

Cang Xiaoman didn't pay much attention to it, "Regardless of the dose, talking about toxicity is just a hooligan. Just taking a small taste is not so life-threatening. But Grandma Zhang, she seemed to have swallowed it just now... just in case.
