Chapter 30: Injury

The young man tightly covered his swollen forehead, pressed against Wen Qizhou's arm, and used the unsupportable umbrella to shield him.

He did not squeeze between the umbrellas, but kept the same pace as them, running quickly towards the same destination.

The situation was urgent, so Wen Qizhou ignored him.

They raced up the steps of the hotel, away from the hail and the howling wind.

The first thing he did when he stopped was to check Chi Yue's head and said nervously: "Yue Yue, are you dizzy?"

Hitting the head with hailstones can easily cause concussion. Even though they reacted very quickly, they were hit several times on the head and shoulders.

Chi Yue's head had no external injuries, but he was more worried about internal injuries. The hand touching her head was shaking.

"I'm not dizzy." She asked Wen Qizhou to bend down and look at his head as well: "What about you? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"

Wen Qizhou breathed a sigh of relief: "No."

The young man who stood silently beside him in a daze was brought back to reality by the couple's mutual care and turned to look at them.

At this sight, a sense of familiarity came over me.

"Brother!" The young man approached Wen Qizhou in surprise: "Do you still remember me? We met on the road!"

Wen Qizhou glanced sideways: "Remember."

That chatty young man.

"I didn't expect to meet you again." He smiled while holding the swelling on his forehead: "Thank you just now!"

"It's okay." He didn't pay attention to the other person at first. If he hadn't suddenly come up to him, he wouldn't have known what he looked like.

The young man remembered that he had not introduced himself yet, so he introduced himself in quite detail, not even mentioning his hobbies and academic qualifications.

Hearing Qizhou nodded from time to time.

He looked past Xu Gan's head, swept across the messy outdoor scene, and stopped among the seriously injured people.

The hail strikes so suddenly that people walking outdoors will not be able to escape the hail if they are too far away from the shelter.

If you panic and fall easily while running, the process of being hit will be longer and the injuries will be more serious.

There were many people like Xu Qian who had their heads smashed and swollen, and there were even people with broken skin and bleeding who were sitting in the hall and howling.

"God, this thief, won't let us live!"

"The meteorological experts at the base are also a bunch of freeloaders! They can't even predict the weather accurately, which makes us suffer!"

"That's right! It hurts me to death!"

There were more and more people cursing, and Xu Qian also introduced himself completely under their "dubbing".

He asked: "Dude, what's your name?"

The state of mind that was not affected by the outside world made Chi Yue look at him twice, and then told her and Wen Qizhou's names.

She stared at his increasingly swollen bump and said before he spoke: "How about you go back and apply a cold compress first?"

"Is it serious?"

"special."

Xu Qian didn't want to lose his appearance yet, so he said goodbye to them immediately upon hearing this, and walked toward the corridor with his hands on his forehead.

Not long after his figure disappeared, Wen Qizhou also withdrew his gaze from the crowd and led Chi Yue back to the suite.

The strong wind carried the hail and hit the floor-to-ceiling windows, leaving shallow water marks and making a frightening sound.

Fortunately, the floor-to-ceiling windows are of good quality, and even the hailstorms didn't cause any cracks, let alone damage.

"Yueyue." Wen Qizhou sat down next to her, his eyes falling on her shoulders: "Take off your clothes and show me."

Chi Yue took off her jacket.

She was wearing a sports vest underneath, and at a glance you could see the skin on her shoulders and arms that had been hit by hail and turned blue.

The bruises scattered on the fair skin caught Wen Qizhou's eyes. He frowned and his eyes were filled with distress.

"Give me the ice pack." He asked to wrap the ice pack in a towel and apply it on her shoulders. On other areas where the bruises were not serious, he carefully sprayed Yunnan Baiyao a few times.

Chi Yue originally wanted to give him medicine, but he ordered him not to move, and her eyes were glued to his shocking shoulder.

He was injured more seriously than she was. The bruise on his right shoulder was bloodshot and there were faint signs of swelling. It was obvious at a glance that it was painful.

"Can you still bear it?" She clutched the corner of his clothes, worry written all over her face: "If you can't bear it, take painkillers."

"No need." He has good patience.

Wen Qizhou finished applying the medicine and put the towel wrapped with an ice pack on his shoulders: "Don't worry, I'm not that fragile."

His fingertips slipped into Chi Yue's fingers and interlocked with hers. The smile raised on his thin lips was always full of tenderness.

Chi Yue repeatedly made sure that he had no other discomfort, and then his tense back was able to relax: "Then how long do we need to apply it?"

"Fifteen minutes." He looked at his watch and wrote down the time: "We will apply it again after dinner."

"Okay." She nodded.

They followed the sound of knocking and looked out the window. White shadows flashed in front of them very quickly, so dense that it was hard to see clearly.

Chi Yue suddenly said: "Those who went down the mountain to look for supplies today may have to suffer a little."

"There is no way." He leaned back on the sofa and felt sleepy listening to the voice: "Who could have expected that hail would fall four days in advance?"

She pointed at herself.

Wen Qizhou chuckled: "Yeah." He closed the distance between them and kissed her forehead: "My Yueyue is the most powerful."

"I'm serious!" Chi Yue felt like he was coaxing a child and glared at him angrily: "Although I didn't expect the exact advance time, the general direction is correct."

Weather forecasts often went awry, and she didn't believe the broadcast time from the beginning, believing it would be advanced or delayed.

Today can be regarded as verifying her guess.

"I know." Wen Qizhou nodded with the same serious attitude, straightened his thin lips and stopped smiling.

After fifteen minutes, he took off the ice pack wrapped in a towel, moved his shoulders and neck twice and said, "I'm a little sleepy."

"Then I'll sleep with you for a while." It's still early for dinner, and there's nothing else to do right now, so it doesn't hurt to take a nap.

They slept in each other's arms.

When the two breaths became light and shallow, the sky outside the window also became darker and darker under the cover of gathering dark clouds.

The sound of falling hail gradually covered up the sound of the wind, the curses, and the screams, but it could not hide the fear of people, let alone their confusion about the future.

Gradually, the shape of the hailstones became larger.

When they were woken up by the alarm clock, hailstones that had become as big as eggs gathered together and made a terrifying banging sound.

"Knock knock──"

A very heavy knock on the door came along with a bang.

Chi Yue and Wen Qizhou, who were about to have dinner, turned their heads in tacit understanding. The latter took out a dagger and approached the knocked door.

There was no peephole on the door, so he couldn't see what was going on outside the door, so he didn't mean to say anything, but waited for the other person to speak.

"Is there anyone? Is anyone there?" The old man outside the door clenched his fists and kept knocking, seemingly unwilling to give up if he didn't get a response.

Wen Qizhou: "What's the matter?"

"Do you have any anti-inflammatory medicine?" He was afraid that the people inside wouldn't hear, so he shouted in a loud voice: "Can you lend me one?"
