Chapter 45
: The Great and Eminent Monk
Just now the monks were busy looking for explanations at Lingyin Temple. Daoran saw an empty bamboo shed and walked in quickly.
The monk of Lingyin Temple who was in charge of the assessment recognized Dao Ran at a glance, and quietly took out Lingyin Temple's special examination questions, so that Dao Ran would not be able to get even a single sign and make this contribution to Lingyin Temple.
As a result, Daoran took the question, glanced at it, and started reading it eloquently.
As if he didn't need to think at all, Daoran read through the test questions one after another. The young monks in Lingyin Temple didn't even have time to answer the answers, and the few words they barely saw were all accurate.
Before the stick of incense was finished burning, Daoran had answered all the questions on the examination paper.
Then he said to the shocked and dumbfounded young monk: "Um, are there any more test questions?"
The time was not up, and according to the rules, you could continue to answer the questions. The little monk took out the normal test questions with a sad face. Even the specially made difficult test questions could not be difficult for Dao Ran, and these simpler test questions were not worth mentioning to Dao Ran.
Then, in the desperate eyes of the young monk, Daoran wrapped up all the fortune-telling sticks in the bamboo shed and carried a basketful of fortune-telling sticks on his back, which shocked the whole audience.
Daoran didn't think there was anything to be proud of. This operation that shocked the whole audience seemed majestic, but in fact it was exchanged for his entire happy childhood. Lingyin Temple wanted to use Buddhist scriptures to test Daoran, which was just a big deal in front of Guan Gong.
Daoran's master is Fahai.
Who is Fahai?
He was a strict master who would put you in solitary confinement for any disagreement and punish you by copying Buddhist scriptures so that you could develop the power of Vajra Finger. Although Daoran was the one who was punished the least in Jinshan Temple, the Buddhist scriptures he copied could fill up Lingyin Temple.
half of the Tibetan Scripture Pavilion.
Moreover, does Jinshan Temple not have any Buddhist scriptures?
Really not, Fahai can go directly to Lingshan Mountain to ask the Arhats and Bodhisattvas to come over. The Buddhist Scripture Pavilion in Jinshan Temple is definitely the best in the world and cannot be compared with other temples.
An orphan or a rare Buddhist scripture is something that is extremely familiar to Daoran. After listening to the first half of a sentence, the following several thousand words can be sung for you in five dialects and eight tones.
Alas, thinking of these past events, Dao Ran is filled with bitterness.
However, Daoran was a man of two generations after all, and he quickly calmed down, put the basket behind him on the ground, and asked: "Amitabha, Senior Brother Shenxiu, I agreed to use a stick of incense to answer the questions at will. This stick of incense has not been burned yet.
The sign is gone, what should we do now?"
Shenxiu didn't expect this to happen. He didn't know that Lingyin Temple had specially prepared special questions for Dao Ran, but the ordinary questions were very difficult. Even if he answered them by himself, he wouldn't dare to say that they were all correct.
As a result, Daoran was not only right, but he didn't even have time to burn a stick of incense. There is still a quarter of the sandalwood stick at the door.
"this……"
Shenxiu could no longer remain calm. Over and over again, it seemed that as long as he saw this little monk, he would be in trouble. Even Shenxiu, who devoted himself to the Buddha, was a little angry now.
Daoran smiled slightly and did not continue to embarrass Shenxiu. Instead, he said to the other monks: "Lingyin Temple is able to share Buddhist scriptures with you in this form. The young monk also admires it very much. It is said that when seeing the wise, the young monk will think of them.
Let’s share the fortune teller with everyone.”
When the monks heard this, they were shocked again.
The rules of this Dharma Discussion Conference have been changed. Words are equal to chips. The more chips, the greater the chance of winning. Daoran has so many words, it can be said that he has almost a 90% chance of winning.
But he actually gave up his chance to be the leader and wanted to share the lot with everyone.
All the monks admired this magnanimity.
A closer look shows that although this monk Daoran is young, his grace and demeanor seem to be even higher than Shenxiu. If Shenxiu has the demeanor of a virtuous and eminent monk, then Daoran is the virtuous and eminent monk himself.
Today is really blessed by the Buddha. Not only can I earn Buddhist scriptures, but I can also continue to participate in Dharma conferences. It is a great blessing.
Daoran clasped his hands together and greeted all the monks one by one, and then asked Shenxiu, "Brother Shenxiu, does this young monk not violate the rules?"
Shenxiu's expression was a little stiff and he said coldly: "It doesn't count."
After saying that, Shenxiu turned around and left, boarding the boat heading to the floating platform in the center of the lake.
Shenxiu admitted that he was jealous.
The monks in front of him, who had praised himself so much just now, turned around and flattered Dao Ran even more. This feeling made Shenxiu very uncomfortable.
But Shenxiu only cared about this change and forgot one thing. The Buddhist scriptures are the treasures of Lingyin Temple. The Buddhist scriptures are shared by all the monks and benefited from them. Half of the gratitude is to Lingyin Temple. But Daoran relied on his own ability to welcome the Buddhist scriptures.
He was able to generously distribute the fortune-telling to others, and naturally all the gratitude and admiration fell on Dao Ran.
"Hmph, you are all deceived by the appearance of this evil monk. You will all regret it when he reveals his true colors."
Shenxiu still thinks that Daoran is a monster monk who uses magic to confuse the people, and is a villain who does not follow the rules and precepts and blasphemes the Buddha's teachings.
Shenxiu was a little worried before, because no matter how well a mortal read the scriptures, he would not be a match for the demon monk, but now he is no longer what he used to be.
Lingyin Temple lent the statue of Arhat Subduing the Dragon to Shenxiu, and he was worthy of being called the best disciple of Lingyin Temple. In just a few days, he came to an understanding and understood a scripture from the statue of Arhat.
This sutra is different from any Buddhist sutra in the Sutra Pavilion of Lingyin Temple. It is a true Buddhist mantra.
From the moment Shenxiu walked out of the Zen room, he was no longer a mortal, but a true practitioner.
The magic power was endless in Shenxiu's body, running all the time, quickly calming his mood. When the boat docked and Shenxiu stepped onto the floating platform, he returned to his previous graceful appearance.
The monks on the shore were not so anxious to board the boat. They thanked Daoran one by one, and then took the fortune sticks from the basket.
They were all Buddhists, and they were all quite shameless. They didn't take many fortune sticks. They probably had enough for themselves, so they stopped.
But even so, Daoran's basket began to be completely empty, but he himself didn't leave a single sign.
Seeing this, Monk Huiquan of Liufo Temple quickly handed over the fortune sticks in his hand and said, "Junior Brother Daoran, why don't you keep a few for yourself? I will return these fortune sticks to you."
Monk Huiquan only took four words. Counting the one he won, the five words were enough for him to explain clearly what he was thinking and confused at the conference. But when he saw that Daoran did not leave any words for himself,
, Monk Huiquan sent the fortune teller in his hand without hesitation.
Daoran pushed it back with a smile and said to Huiquan: "Senior Brother Huiquan can just keep these fortune sticks. I don't have any use for them."
"Can't use it?"
Monk Huiquan was a little strange. Could it be that Daoran had something to do with Lingyin Temple and could he break the rules for him?
"Yes, because I have never thought about arguing about the number one argument." Daoran said seriously.
