Chapter 49 Article 7 Decree(1/3)
‘Whoosh!’
The spiritual thoughts of nearly a thousand people in the hall were all heading in a certain direction.
On the west side of the main hall, an old monk wearing a brocade cassock stood up from the futon with a calm face, lowered his eyes, leaned the seven-treasure glazed staff in his right hand against the crook of his left arm, clasped his hands together and recited:
"Amitabha, I have seen a wishful donor!"
The person who spoke was none other than the Great Zen Master of the White Camel Temple in the Western Region among the five regions of the Blue Realm.
According to the order of the nine-level sect system in the Azure Realm, the 'White Camel Temple' is definitely a third-level sect. There are three venerables in the temple who are equivalent to the Tao Lord realm, and there are hundreds of Arhats who are equivalent to the Yuanshen realm.
Most people have a misunderstanding, thinking that high-level practitioners of Buddhism should be ranked in the order of Buddha, Bodhisattva, Venerable, and Arhat to correspond to the ranks of Tianzun, Dao Zun, Dao Lord, Yuanshen, etc.
In fact, Buddhism has its own system, and ranks are usually determined based on the understanding of the Dharma and the preaching and contribution to the world.
From the perspective of Buddhist disciples, personal strength is important, but even more important is wisdom and influence. After all, the foundation of Buddhist practice is the power of faith, vows, and merit.
In the Buddhist system, the Venerable also belongs to the Arhat class, but if they are powerful and profound in Buddhism, they will be called the Venerable to show respect.
For this reason, it is difficult to evaluate the strength of Buddhist disciples. A Bodhisattva who specializes in preaching may not necessarily be able to defeat an Arhat who is good at subduing dragons and tigers.
In the Azure Realm, in order to conveniently record the strength of the sect, Arhats who are at the same level as the Dao Lord are usually called Venerables, in order to distinguish Arhats who are at the level of ordinary Yuanshen.
The title "Zen Master" is generally only used for venerable people who are at the same level as the Taoist Lord, such as the venerable Hongzhao who once taught the "Xiantian Yiqi Southern Sect".
The Zen master has an ordinary appearance, but his two long white eyebrows extend from the corners of his eyes to the lobes of his ears, making him look very kind.
The four corners of his brocade lanthanum cassock are inlaid with luminous pearls. The golden threads are intertwined with Ruyi beads, Mani beads, Dust-proof beads and Dingfeng beads, which complement each other and create a warm shimmer.
In addition, various colored agates, corals, relics, white jade congs, emeralds and other gems also reflect little bits of light, making the Zen Master Da Zhi look like an immortal or a saint, making people admire him.
Zhang Ke looked at the handsome Zen Master Da Zhi up and down, and asked in a deep voice:
"Dazhi Zen Master, do you know why I called you?"
Zen Master Da Zhi shook his head and said:
"I don't know!"
"You really don't know?"
"I really don't know!"
Zhang Ke laughed twice and stared at Zen Master Da Zhi's face.
"Then I'll give you a reminder..."
Zhang Ke paused briefly and then said:
"A few months ago, after the three Zen forests headed by the 'White Camel Temple' attacked a Xuankong Mountain, they did not want to annihilate the Yuren, but instead enclosed their territory for the benefit of the Xuankong Mountain.
In the end, the Hanging Mountain was disintegrated by the Feathered Formation, and six thousand disciples in the three Zen Forests perished. Among them, nearly twenty Arhats in the Yuan Shen realm perished.
Afterwards, the two temples, 'Bo Yue' and 'Iron Buddha', made representations to the 'Xunjie Tai'.
After capturing Xuankong Mountain, it was you, the White Camel Temple, who took the lead in seizing the place where the spiritual veins gathered, leaving the monks of the two temples unable to kill the Yuren.
They could only first help the 'White Camel Temple' to determine the location of the hanging mountain, which led to the tragedy.
Great Zen Master!
Shouldn’t the ‘White Camel Temple’ be responsible for the death of these six thousand disciples?”
Zhang Ke's words surprised everyone present.
The reason why they were surprised was not because of the six thousand dead and injured practitioners, but because of other factors behind the incident.
Among the five major regions of the Blue Realm, the Western region is like a piece of iron under the rule of Buddhism. No other sect has ever been able to gain a foothold in the Western region.
Even the "Tao De Sect" that once dominated the world has failed in the Western region.
Ruyi Daojun actually ordered the two temples of "Bo Yue" and "Iron Buddha" to turn against each other, tearing a hole in the iron Buddhist territory. The meaning contained in this is not simple.
After all, if Buddhism cannot properly handle this matter, the West will be different from the past.
Thousands of eyes were focused on the west side of the hall.
There, there were two people in each of the two temples of 'Bo Yue' and 'Iron Buddha'. The four monks lowered their gazes, like wooden sculptures, showing no reaction to the outside world's exploration.
More than two hundred Buddhists all stared at the four people with cannibalistic eyes.
Zen Master Da Zhi was so furious that if he hadn't been concerned about Zhang Ke, he would have crushed the four of them into a pulp with one slap.
Barely suppressing the murderous intention in his heart, Zen Master Da Zhi moved his eyes away from the four monks "Bo Yue" and "Iron Buddha", turned his head, and said to Zhang Ke in a deep voice:
"If you wish to take charge of the stage, the affairs of the Western Zen Forest should be handled by Buddhism on its own. Please take charge of the stage..."
Before he could finish speaking, Zhang Kesenran said:
"The 'Integration Plan' was perfected with the joint efforts of all the sects in this realm, and the 'Boundary Patrol Platform' was also established with the recommendation of each sect.
When the ‘Boundary Patrol Platform’ was first established, what was the seventh law that all sects respected?”
Undisguised murderous intent spread outwards in an instant.
After hearing this, everyone here was slightly shocked.
When the 'Inspection Platform' was first built, Zhang Ke planned to issue seven decrees, the contents of which were basically related to the normal operation and development of the Azure Realm.
‘When the ‘Boundary Patrol Platform’ promulgates a law that is related to the general development of the Azure Realm, the sects in the world must provide full assistance. Those who disobey the law will be sanctioned by the ‘Boundary Patrol Platform’ after review!’
This is the seventh law.
No one noticed anything unusual about this decree at the beginning, because these seven decrees did not deliberately target any sect, and there were no provisions to seek benefits for the ‘Xiantian Yiqi Southern Sect’ or even Zhang Ke.
But when Zhang Ke suddenly said the seventh law, everyone suddenly realized that there were many tricks in it.
Zen Master Da Zhi could feel Zhang Ke's malice toward him, and while he was wary, he spoke out in defense.
"In charge, since tens of thousands of years ago, my Buddhist sect has been in charge of the western region.
In the past, both the 'Xuanyuan Sword Sect' and the 'Daode Sect' all acquiesced in this principle.
The two temples of "Bo Yue" and "Iron Buddha" committed such crimes in order to escape their responsibilities, and they should be handed over to our Buddhist sect for disposal.
But don’t worry, Master, I, the Western Three Thousand Zen Forest, will definitely give an explanation regarding the death of the six thousand disciples of Xuankong Mountain.”
Zen Master Da Zhi's words contained both rules and threats, and at the same time, he also gave Zhang Ke a big promise.
It is a pity that Zhang Ke has already made up his mind today to establish his prestige with Buddhism, and will also use this matter to break Buddhism's absolute rule over the western region.
After Zen Master Da Zhi finished speaking, Zhang Ke said calmly:
"In general, Zen Master, please don't change the subject. What I'm asking you about is the decree of the 'Xunjie Tai', which has nothing to do with the 'Xuanyuan Sword Sect' or the 'Daode Sect'.
You only need to answer one sentence, Article 7 of the ‘Boundary Patrol Platform’ decrees that you...”
Zhang Ke pointed at Zen Master Da Zhi and continued:
"...Or is your sect, the White Camel Temple, prepared to disobey?"
These words were said in an extremely rude manner. All the more than two hundred Arhats on the west side stood up, headed by Venerable Puhua of the Mahayana Sect. Beside him were nine Venerables from other high-grade Zen forests.
Venerable Puhua took a breath and said in a deep voice:
"Ruyi is in charge, I'll wait..."
Zhang Ke suddenly turned his head and asked:
"Did I let you speak?"
The clear sound of jade chimes striking each other suddenly resounded through the hall, and in this sound, every trace of the rules of the avenue was disturbed.
At this moment, Venerable Puhua suddenly found that he could not speak, as if his mouth was sealed.
'This...how is this possible...this is so possible...'
Venerable Puhua roared in his heart.
He and Ruyi Daojun are of the same rank, how could he block him with just a casual word? If Ruyi Daojun and himself take action at this time, then...
A chill surged into Venerable Puhua's heart.
Several Buddhist sages beside him were about to speak along with Venerable Puhua, but there was a unique power of rules in the world that prevented them from opening their mouths.
Several venerables looked at each other, and they all saw horror in each other's eyes.
Only when some things reach a certain level can we understand what kind of power they contain.
After Zhang Ke scolded several people, he turned around and asked Zen Master Da Zhi again.
"Dazhi Zen Master, are the 'White Camel Temple' prepared to disobey the decree of the 'Xunjie Platform' that all sects in the world respect?"
Zen Master Da Zhi looked around a few times and saw no one offered help, so he could only whisper:
"Since the 'White Camel Temple' is a member of the Azure Realm, how can it disobey the order of the 'Inspection Platform'?"
Zhang Ke nodded.
"Very good, then do you have any objections to the accusations made by the 'Bo Yue' and 'Iron Buddha' temples?"
The great Zen Master was speechless.
After capturing the Hanging Mountain that day, everyone in the White Camel Temple believed that the Yuren were defeated and could not pose a threat to themselves.
To be continued...
