13. Chapter 13 Widow Cheng commits a crime

Two major events have happened in Saibei Town recently. The first thing is that missing children have started to appear frequently in eight villages within ten miles. The second thing is that there have been thieves within a few dozen miles of Saibei Town. These thieves are not just one or two.

Many families lost their belongings, and some poor families even lost their livestock because they had no money. People were panicked for a while, and they closed their doors and windows early after nightfall and did not dare to go out. The government sent down all the government officials, but they caught a few

He was a petty thief, but not only could the thief and theft not be subsided, but it became more and more serious. The next day, even the county government office was stolen.

The business of the bun shop is getting more and more prosperous. In the past, the meat buns were only eaten by the rich, but now even the poor people in the neighborhood eat them.

That night, after the little fox and Hua Xiucai had fun, they fell tiredly on the bed and just fell asleep when they heard some little noises in the yard. The little fox hurriedly sat up and put on his coat.

"Madam, what's wrong?" Hua Xiucai asked her.

"There is movement, it seems there is a thief."

"Stop making trouble. People from all over the country know that our family is poor. What kind of thief is so blind? Go to sleep quickly."

The little fox had sharp ears and eyes, and after a while he heard the restless clucking of the phoenix in the yard. The phoenix was a human being and would not moan uncontrollably.

The little fox lay by the window and took a look at the yard under the moonlight. Sure enough, he saw a familiar figure climbing over the earthen wall of his house and tiptoeing around in the yard. The little thief was not picky. Even during the day, the little fox was looking for flowers.

The scholar never let go of all the clothes he washed and put them all into his pocket.

"Isn't this Widow Cheng? Her husband left some money to her after his death. Why is she so disrespectful? And she's not afraid of ruining her 3-year-old child?" Hua Xiucai sighed when he saw her.

The couple rushed out of the house and shouted loudly. The scared Widow Cheng dropped her things and ran away in a hurry. This is not a trivial matter. The two families live close to each other and have always been very harmonious. If something serious had not happened, Widow Cheng would never have gone out like this.

It was a bad idea. Both of them were kind-hearted, and they didn't want to report her to the police. They just thought that if she really encountered any difficulties, they should help her.

The little fox put on Hua Xiucai's coat, and the two planned to go to Widow Cheng's house to ask, but before they entered the house, the little fox saw a black air vaguely filling the courtyard of Widow Cheng. This black air was not evil but caused by evil spirits.

The filth caused by human greed cannot be seen by ordinary people, but it cannot be hidden from the eyes of a little fox.

Widow Cheng was so ashamed that she hid on the kang with her head lowered and couldn't bear to face the two of them. The foul smell clearly came from her seven orifices.

"If Sister Cheng encounters any difficulties, please tell me and my wife. If we, the neighbors, can help, we will be obliged to do so." Hua Xiucai found a place for Widow Cheng to step down.

"I...I..." Widow Cheng was ashamed.

"Sister Cheng, speak directly if you have anything to say."

"I want to eat steamed buns, but I can't afford them, so... Oops, I'm sorry Hua Xiucai, what happened to me just now? I'm so obsessed, how could I do such a despicable thing? I hope you two see our neighbors doing this.

Don’t report to the government for many years.” Widow Cheng prayed.

The couple looked at each other. They didn't understand why they wanted to attack their neighbor just because they were greedy just to eat steamed buns? This was really making a fuss out of a molehill.
