Chapter Six Master Lezhen
Chapter 6 Master Lezhen
Today is the day when the temple is officially opened to the public. Early in the morning, Han Bing and the four of them set out to Lezhen Temple. At this time, tens of thousands of people have gathered in the temple. Han Bing looked around as if he was looking for someone.
He said to himself: He must have come here because of something. How could someone like him come here to burn incense?
Because there are so many people offering incense, a ceremony is held in the temple every year. At this time, a large incense burner has been placed in the courtyard. There is a cushion in front of the incense burner, which should be the seat of Master Lezhen. "The incense offering ceremony officially began.
Master Lezhen is invited to come in and pray for everyone." As the shouts disappeared, Master Lezhen had already walked to the cushions and sat down. The whole place was silent. They were arranged neatly, and each person held an incense stick in his hand.
Someone shouted: "Now, those who offer incense are invited to express their wishes." All the people present held the incense with their hands together, closed their eyes, and spoke to the Buddha respectfully and sincerely. After half the incense stick, someone shouted again: "Here below
Please offer incense." Then many monks came out of the temple, respectfully took the incense from each person's hand, and neatly inserted it into the incense burner. "Now, let's ask Master Lezhen to pray for everyone." Then I heard Lezhen chanting silently.
What, everyone had their eyes closed, and put their hands together in front of their faces. About half the time for the incense burning had passed, and someone shouted: "The incense burning is over, Master Lezhen is invited to speak."
"Dear donors, the Buddha has seen your sincerity. I believe that the Buddha will definitely bring you happiness and peace. Next, please visit and worship on your own." After saying that, Lezhen bowed and turned around and walked towards the Buddhist hall.
Le Zhen had returned to the Zen room and was meditating and chanting sutras. Suddenly a young monk knocked on the door and came in: "Master, someone is looking for you, saying that it is a man named Xiao Yao who asked him to bring you a letter."
"Let him come in." Lezhen did not stop at this time, but continued to meditate and chant sutras.
After about a cup of tea, someone knocked on the door. "Come in," Le Zhen said. At this time, the person who opened the door and walked in was Xiao Yao's apprentice, Tang Feng.
"Master Lezhen, my name is Tang Feng, and my master Xiao Yao asked me to send you a letter." Tang Feng bowed to Lezhen very respectfully and said.
Le Zhen stopped chanting sutras, opened his eyes, looked at Tang Feng in surprise, and asked thoughtfully: "You are Xiao Yao's apprentice, when did you become your master?"
"Two years ago." Tang Feng replied.
"Didn't your master say anything to you?" Le Zhen asked.
"My master just asked me to bring you a letter, and to be respectful." Tang Feng replied, and handed the letter to Le Zhen.
Lezhen took the letter, read it over and said, "You should call me uncle, your master and I were sworn sworn friends."
"Uncle," Tang Feng shouted in surprise, "please forgive me, uncle, the master has not told me about this."
"Your master and I haven't seen each other for three years. He only comes to see me when something happens." Le Zhen said with a sigh.
Then Lezhen told Tang Feng how he and Xiao Yao became sworn friends, asked Tang Feng some things, and then asked someone to find him a clean room to stay in. Lezhen seemed to be very interested in Tang Feng.
After Tang Feng left, Le Zhen nodded thoughtfully and said to himself: Strange man.
