[077] flustered

Zhong Kui did not refute Wen Gen's unreasonable accusation. He raised his eyes to look at the vast mountains and forests, and said to them both in a calm tone: "I will show you something later, and you will understand what is going on."

Because it was too late and it was too late to rush back to the county town, Zhiqing decided to rest at Old Man Xia's house tonight.

The colors of dusk have not completely disappeared, and a vague full moon rises slowly in the sky.

It seems that tonight is another unusual full moon night. The full moon is dark red. The dark red full moon gives people a vague and indescribable weird feeling.

Zhong Kui, who was walking behind, raised his eyes and saw the full moon, and his heart trembled slightly. He retracted his gaze from the sky and stared at Zhiqing's broad back in front of him. An inexplicable haze filled his mind instantly, and a cold wind hit his face.

. Suddenly he was agitated, and he suddenly felt a faint sense of uneasiness, which was like thorns filling his sixth sense.

Night falls as expected, and the outline of the distant mountains gradually blurs and the trees mix into a dark landscape.

They found Zhong Kui, but they didn’t see the children he was talking about. This made Zhiqing a little confused. Although he was mentally prepared, he knew that Zhong Kui always did some unusual things and made people confused in all aspects.

It feels like there is a bit of an alien feeling that is unacceptable.

But if it was true, as Wen Gen said, that Zhong Kui was deliberately joking or deceiving them by saying something about the orphans in Menling Village, then it would be extremely inappropriate.

For the sake of the children Zhong Kui mentioned, the two of them temporarily gave up patrolling Xia Zhi'an's whereabouts. Unexpectedly, the children did not see it, but frightened him and Wen Gen to the point of losing two of their souls.

Thinking of this, Zhi Qing's heart instantly felt cold. He had pushed himself into the forefront of the storm for Zhong Kui. If anything else really went wrong, he would just walk away without a trace.

Wen Gen rushed forward tiredly, looking very frightened and not daring to stop.

I don’t know who said it, but walking is faster at night than during the day. Sure enough, half an hour ahead of schedule according to Zhiqing’s budget, the three of them quickly returned to Old Man Xia’s house.

Although Wen Gen was timid, he thought he had good cooking skills. When he returned to Old Man Xia's house, he dove into the kitchen to prepare a simple dinner to fill his stomach.

Cooking skills rely on various condiments to set off. In this remote country, it is the most luxurious idea to have all kinds of cooking condiments. Wengen found half a bag of salt and nothing like soybean oil in a wooden cabinet in the kitchen.

Accompanied by Zhong Kui and Zhi Qing, Wen Gen pulled half a wilted cabbage by the river.

There was no rice, but fortunately the clear water in the tank was still edible. A pot of clear water and half-shredded cabbage was cooked in a burst of smoke. Wen Gen sprinkled some salt into the pot, stirred it with wooden chopsticks, and each person had a bowl of shredded cabbage.

Eat the cabbage with clear water and a splash of water.

After dinner, the dark red full moon slowly climbed up the treetops. Zhong Kui took out the cloth bag in his hand and explained the previous story to Zhiqing and Wengen.

Inside the bag is a half-dead soul that Zhong Kui rescued in the Purple Bamboo Forest. What a half-dead soul is will be explained later.

Anyway, Zhiqing and Wengen saw that after Zhong Kui opened the bag, a few faint shadows flew out from inside.

The shadows gradually formed human forms in the space, bowed to Zhong Kui who released them, and disappeared in the ink-like darkness of the night in the blink of an eye.

Zhiqing and Wengen stared at the scene that happened in front of them with their mouths open. They looked at each other and Zhongkui and asked in unison: "What did you play just now?"

"Ghost." Zhong Kui said with an indifferent expression, as if he was watching the shadows that had disappeared.

Because Wen Gen had known before that Zhong Kui was an unusual person, and now that he saw the master, although he was also scared, he was much bolder because there was one more person in the master. When he looked at the master, he realized that the master was also afraid.

Seeing this scene in front of him, he was shocked! Zhiqing's face turned pale and his whole body became cold. He asked in a trembling voice: "How can you collect ghosts?"

"It's hard to explain in words, let me tell you about the children!"

Zhiqing nodded and said, "Let's go into the house!" As he spoke, he still looked around with lingering fear. There was no moonlight in the dark space outside, so he took the lead and walked toward the back room alone.

Wen Gen was even more nervous and never left the master's side. He pulled up his collar and followed Zhi Qing into the house like he was running away.

There was a slight scratching sound, followed by a faint puff of blue smoke, and the kerosene lamp began to dance magically with its special sparks.

Zhong Kui later came in and found a place to sit. He took a casual look and saw three ghostly shadows flashing on the wall under the light of the kerosene lamp, and then told the two of them one by one what had happened.

This statement made Zhiqing and Wengen open their mouths in shock, and they were silent for a long time. While they were sympathizing with the poor children and the people who suffocated to death in the purple bamboo forest, they were still worried about the woman they saw in the afternoon.

The two of them were afraid that no one could know what they were thinking. The woman who suddenly appeared behind them, was she a ghost?

When Zhong Kui heard Zhi Qing mention that woman, he calmly shook his head and rejected both of their ideas.

"She's not a ghost."

"How are you sure?" Wen Gen asked nervously.

"I'm sure." Zhong Kui said stubbornly without explaining the reason.

"Okay, let's not argue, let's figure out how to spend tonight!" Zhiqing now has some distrust of Zhong Kui. He thinks that the woman must be a female ghost, otherwise how could she be so mysterious?

Zhong Kui knew what they were thinking, but he knew that what was scary was not the female ghost, but another clue. However, he did not reveal the clue, but said in a nonchalant manner: "It's okay, you guys can sleep tonight

, I will keep vigil.”

Having said that, it is impossible to think about nothing and sleep peacefully. What's more, the two of them just witnessed Zhong Kui releasing the ghost. Who knows whether this weirdo will take advantage of the two of them to sleep soundly?

It invites ghosts to cause trouble!

The above is Wengen’s idea.

What Zhiqing was thinking was that it seemed that Zhong Kui was not a simple boy. Not only did he deal with ghosts, but he also knew some puzzling things. His secrets were unfathomable and he had to be careful.

What Zhong Kui thinks is that if there is any trouble after they both sleep peacefully, he can handle it alone, as long as they don't become a self-defeating burden when he does things.

"Haha! It's still early anyway, let's go get Lao Xia's book and read it, so we can kill time." Zhiqing suddenly broke the silence and said. To be honest, he didn't want to be strangled to death by a ghost in his sleep.

"Huh?" Wen Gen didn't understand what he meant and looked at the master in confusion.

"I can't read, how do I read it?" Zhong Kui said with a bitter look on his face.

"It's okay. I heard that after the movement, illiteracy will be eliminated. Then I will help you find an illiteracy class. How about you go to learn literacy?" Zhiqing looked at Zhong Kui and said.
