Chapter 836 Crossing the river!

During the Qin and early Han Dynasty, the mountain range stretching from southwest to northeast in the northern part of Yanmen County was called "Hengshan".
Emperor Wen of the Han Dynasty changed its name to "Changshan" (taboo).
During the Wei and Jin Dynasties, it was renamed Hengshan - the word "Heng" was so common that if any emperor had this word in his name again, he would have to change his name (Zhenzong Zhao Heng of the Song Dynasty).
Hengshan Mountain is a very broad mountain range with many mountains in it. The most important pass of Yanmen Pass is located on Xixing Mountain.
When Liu Kun occupied Jinyang, he sent troops to Xingbeiloufan (near today's Shenchi County), Mayi (now Shuozhou City), Yinguan (southeast of today's Shuozhou), Fanju (now Yingxian County, between Hunyuan)
, the five counties of Nao (near present-day Hunyuan) were transferred to Tuoba Yilu.
Among these five counties, Loufan has been abolished, and Yinguan has been abolished in the late Han Dynasty. The remaining three counties still exist.
It can be seen from the map that these five counties are actually in the Datong Basin outside the Hengshan Mountains. Within the Hengshan Mountains is the Xinzhou Basin. The Hutuo River meanders from north to south, running through the entire narrow basin.
On May 28, Shao Xun ordered the establishment of Jingling Longxiang Mansion in Pingyao County, south of Taiyuan County;
In Jiuyuan County, Xinxing County, north of Shiling, there is Shahe Longxiang Mansion;
Xinkou Longxiang Mansion was built at the ruins of Xinkou Old City built by Emperor Gaozu of the Northern Han Dynasty in Xinxing County.
The three men who had just made meritorious service, Jiang Tai and Zhang He, were appointed as Sima of the other departments, and Kou Ji was appointed as the Chief of the Department of Longxiang Prefecture in Shahe.
Yang Huiquan, the governor of the Longxiang shogunate, was appointed as the prefect of Yanmen. He ordered Liu Runzhong, the prefect of Shangdang, to lead 5,000 elite cavalry to go north to Yanmen. He also ordered Taiyuan soldiers to transfer 9,600 soldiers and troops to Yanmen in mid-June.
Gate station.
After that, there was almost no pause. Tens of thousands of troops surged out through more than ten valley roads in Yanmen Pass and headed outside the fortress.

On the 29th, on the most important road at Yanmen Pass, soldiers and armor shone brightly, and flags blocked out the sun.
The Xianbei people who were woodcutter in the nearby mountains hardly dared to breathe when they saw it.
Yu Ju led five thousand selected Xianbei and Wuhuan men to lead the horses and act as vanguards.
After they left, soldiers with yellow scarves on their heads lined up one after another. From morning to night, there was no way to finish.
Carts, oxen carts, mule carts and even all kinds of beasts of burden are walking on the rugged and dangerous mountain roads. People are shouting and horses are neighing, and it is extremely lively.
In other passable valley roads, there are still people driving cattle and sheep to the outside of the Great Wall.
In the evening, Shao Xun climbed to the highest point of Xixing Mountain and had a panoramic view of Yanmen Pass.
In more than ten passes, there are crowds of people and flags flying.
The sergeants were as unstoppable as tigers and wolves, rushing towards Xingbei.
"If you get to Yanmen Pass, you will have no worries about your retreat. You can march with peace of mind." Shao Xun stood with his hands behind his back, leaning against the wind.
"Your Majesty, please have tea." Wang put the tea bowl on the table, knelt down on the carpet and said softly.
Shao Xun turned around and gently stroked Wang's chin with his rough hands.
Mrs. Wang's face was slightly red, her thoughts were confused, she wanted to shrink but didn't dare, and was a little reluctant to let go.
Shao Xun's hand suddenly exerted force, pinched Wang's lower jaw, and slowly lifted it up.
Mrs. Wang's eyes burst into tears from the pain, and she quickly got up.
"What should I do with you?" Shao Xun said, "I don't want to play anymore. Now I just think you are a trouble."
"Your Majesty..." Wang's mind went blank. Some of his charms and fantasies disappeared, and he was instantly filled with fear.
This is the top of Xixing Mountain, not far away is the cliff and deep valley.
Wang's tears kept pouring out, and she looked at the man in front of her with pleading eyes.
The hand slowly lost its strength and turned to gentle caressing.
Shao Xun gently patted Wang's face and said, "Don't cross the line in the future."
Mrs. Wang nodded repeatedly, but couldn't stop her tears, as if some sweet dream had been shattered.
"Don't be like this." Shao Xun gently wiped away the tears on Wang's face and whispered: "As long as you are honest and obedient and don't cause trouble, Shi Yijian will be the lord of Xianbei. After all, I still like you quite a lot."
Wang turned away and wiped her tears herself.
Shao Xun smiled softly, waved his hand and asked the soldiers to pack up their equipment and move on.
****
As soon as you leave the north entrance of Yanmen Pass, you will see the ancient city of Yin Guan
On the first day of the sixth lunar month, iron cavalry crisscrossed the wilderness, driving out a group of Xianbei cavalry who had been ordered to harass.
Countless infantrymen were cutting wood in the mountains and camped outside Yinguan City.
Shao Xun's handsome flag was erected at the top of the city.
From this day on, Dai Gong Tuoba Shi Yijian's banner was raised.
On the second day of the sixth lunar month, Master Wuhuan led more than 4,000 people to vote.
On the third day of the lunar month, another five thousand Wuhuan came to vote.
On the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, there were still Wuhuan people, and this time there were less than 3,000 people.
By the fifth day of the sixth lunar month, when Shao Xun and others arrived with food, grass, equipment, and decided to go north, there were more than 18,000 Wuhuan people who had come to surrender, and the rest were thousands of miscellaneous people, and more than a thousand Jin people.
Most of them are small tribes, but it can also be seen that the Wang family has a very strong appeal among the Wuhuan people.
In places like Xingbei, almost all people were Wuhuan people, Jin people, and Xianbei people were very rare.
It was not until the Tuoba Yilu era that "one hundred thousand families" of people were moved over, and the number of Xianbei talents increased rapidly - "one hundred thousand families" was probably an imaginary number, and included a large number of Jin people who went north to escape the war. Only God knows the real number.
Well, Xianbei people don’t keep household registration statistics anyway.
The Wuhuan people have a higher degree of Sinicization.
The large influx of Xianbei people greatly changed the population structure of this area, resulting in a mixed power structure of old and new in the central region.
Also on the fifth day of June, a large group of enemy cavalry suddenly arrived on the north bank of Sanggan River, with a total number of nearly tens of thousands.
Mixed in with the cavalry, there seemed to be thousands of infantry. If nothing else, they were all Wuhuan and Jin infantry recruited.
After Shao Xun heard the news, he immediately sent troops northward - led by Xizhonglang General Wang Que'er, with a total of 6,000 people from the left camp of Silver Spear, 3,600 soldiers from Chen Liufu, 3,000 Yi Cong cavalry, and Huangtou
There are ten thousand troops, with a total of more than 22,000 infantry and cavalry.
The distance of twenty miles was actually not too close, and it was enough for the cavalry to circle back and intercept. However, the troops who had just won a great victory were full of morale and surged northward, without any feeling of fear.
The sub-movement has Feng Bachi sitting on an ox cart filled with hay, swaying forward.
Surrounded by soldiers from Chenliu.
At that time, the morning dew had not yet dissipated, and the fragrance of green grass was everywhere.
Occasionally, I smell a pungent smell, which is fresh livestock manure, but Feng Bachi always jokes with people: "This is the shit frightened by the rope head."
Amid the laughter and laughter, rows of cavalry on horseback passed quickly and gradually disappeared among the tall wormwood.
Feng Bachi took two sips and spat out the sand in his mouth.
At noon, another group of cavalry passed by quickly, as if they were about to rush forward to join the battlefield.
The soldiers in Chen Liufu looked at them with envy.
The infantry moved too slowly. By the time they arrived, the battle would probably be over.
A few miles behind Feng Bachi and the others, Huangtou Army officers and soldiers drove countless chariots, horses, and draft animals, carrying loads of food and military supplies to the front.
Their scale is larger, almost filling the entire wilderness, looming in the grass.
If you look down from the air, you can generally see: several long dragons causing large plumes of smoke, starting from the Yin Pavilion and stretching to the (lěi) water (Huangshui River, Mayichuan or Sanggan River tributaries) twenty miles away in the north.
South Bank.
Outside the long dragon, the newly surrendered Xianbei and Wuhuan Qingqi were sent out to guard the flanks of the army. Some of them were even ordered to take a detour and go further north to the main stream of the Sanggan River to harass the enemy.
Everyone must participate in the battle and strive to defeat the enemy with one blow!
****
The city was being built by the river, and Wang Que'er climbed onto an earthen platform and looked to the north.
Beside the river not far away, countless auxiliary craftsmen were building rafts, boats, and preparing to build pontoons.
On the other side of the river, there are Xianbei cavalry cruising around, shooting a few arrows here from time to time.
The Silver Spear Army gathered a group of soldiers. Everyone put down their spears, took out their rifles and bows, walked quickly to the river bank, drew their bows and fired, causing the Xianbei Rangers to flee immediately.
"Haha!" The roar of laughter echoed across both sides of the water.
"Hurry up! Build it quickly!"
"Grandpa wants to cross the river and kill the bandits!"
"Go across the river and kill them!"
The Silver Spear soldiers kept making noises.
The auxiliary craftsmen wiped their sweat after hearing this, and their men became faster unconsciously.
The Xianbei people on the other side of the river looked a little pale when they saw it. They were neither advancing nor retreating.
"Suotou, old maid!" Ji, the leader of the building, put his hands on his hips and pointed at the country like a general: "You are stupider than the donkey at home!"
"Building owner, what do you mean?" someone asked jokingly.
"With the pots and jars, I can't bear to run away." Ji Shou pointed to the open fields on the other side of the river between the Sanggan River and the water, and said: "Look, there are farmland, mulberry and hemp, and houses and houses. Stay here.
Once you get used to it, you won’t want to live chasing water and grass anymore.”
"The owner of the building is absolutely right." Someone said with emotion: "According to me, it is better to resort to the old trick of the rope head, abandon all belongings, lure the enemy deep, surround us in the wilderness further north, and then send the spirit
Riding south to the Yin Pavilion, I tried to find a way to seize this grain storage place."
"They don't dare." Ji Shou said contemptuously: "If we retreat here, the king will directly go to Cucumber Dui. There is Xinping City in Cucumber Dui, do we want to retreat? Xinping City retreats, do we want to retreat to Pingcheng?"
?”
"The old maid is dead!" Everyone laughed and their morale was high.
Some even took the initiative to put bowstrings around their necks and looked at the Xianbei people from a distance, seeming to threaten to hang them with bowstrings.
"Crash!" The two wooden boats were put into the water one after another.
The craftsmen rushed forward and used bamboo buttons to firmly insert them together.
"Quick, quick, quick! I'm going to cross the river today."
Maybe it was because the weather was too hot, and Ji Shou was very anxious, so he took off his shirt and exposed his breasts.
"Hurry! I want to cross the river!" The soldiers of Ji Shouzhuang, who served as the first wave of commandos, were also eager to try and kept urging.
"Hurry up! Hurry up!" The craftsmen were perfunctory while cursing in their hearts: What a bunch of old maids!
When the sun turned west, most of the pontoon bridge had been built.
The Xianbei cavalry charged again, but were quickly repelled by the terrifying rifle-bow covering blows of the Silver Spear Army.
Looking from a distance, the grass on the other side of the river is filled with dense arrows.
More than a dozen human and horse corpses fell among them, and soon flies were attracted to them.
"Cross the river! Cross the river!" The silver spear soldiers who had finished lining up hit the ground with their rifle barrels, full of fighting spirit.
"Crash!" The last row of rafts was lowered.
The drummer and horn player had just finished their dinner, and after a little exercise, they went up to a high platform.
The sunset in the western sky was very beautiful. When the flag for dispatching troops was raised, the drummer raised his hammer with both hands and struck hard.
After the "dong dong" drum beat sounded, the silver gun soldiers on the river bank immediately burst into cheers.
Hundreds of soldiers divided into two columns and surged across the river.
Ji Hua took the lead and led a group of people to rush out for dozens of steps and then formed an array on the spot.
Soldiers and horses continued to arrive, and more and more people crossed the river.
The Xianbei people finally made some movement.
In the wilderness, two to three hundred silver cavalry rushed out from behind a forest.
Armored cavalry!
"Fuck this old maid to death!" Ji Shou, who didn't even wear armor, yelled.
"Fuck me to death!" The sergeants brought an extra-long rifle. The blade was tilted forward and the sharp end of the rifle was deeply inserted into the soil.
"Fuck me to death!" Someone else brought antlers and placed them on both sides.
A large number of silver spear warriors gathered on the other side of the river. Some were preparing to cross the river to support, while others drew their rifles and bows.
"Xilulu!" The auxiliary soldiers quickly pulled in seven or eight carriages. After placing them horizontally along the river, they began to load the crossbows and load arrows.
The armored cavalry rushed over with great momentum.
There were already four rows of long rifles nailed by the Silver Spear Army. Looking at the hedgehog-like formation, the Xianbei cavalry waved their horses and pushed the rifles stuck diagonally in the soil as much as possible, and then desperately ran into them.
.
"Crack!" The sound of breaking steps kept coming and going.
A few people were unlucky enough to be knocked off their horses, but the horses continued to charge forward, creating chaos.
Subsequently, dozens more cavalry rushed in, almost completely smashing the infantry formation set up by the Silver Spear Army, and then the momentum of the forward charge continued unabated, plowing deep trenches among the infantry, and bones were broken wherever they passed.
The tendons are broken, and the end is extremely cruel.
However, most of the armored cavalry did not see the water and disappeared into the crowd of infantry.
The crossbow machine on the other side of the river was firing non-stop. Occasionally, a crossbow bolt would pierce through the armor. If you were lucky, you could even kill two people.
The infantry bows were also firing continuously, but the effect was not particularly great. After the first wave of charging, the remaining twenty or so enemy horsemen were riddled with arrows and fled back in embarrassment.
The Silver Spear Army immediately reorganized, and subsequent reinforcements continued to cross the river.
When the enemy was about to launch a second wave of charges, several carriages passed through the pontoon bridge and crossed in front of the formation.
The enemy cavalry lingered for a long time and finally did not launch a charge - after failing the first time, they knew it was time to give up.
"Cross the river!" Another shout came from the south bank of the water, and soldiers one after another, one after another, passed the pontoon bridge and arrived at the north bank.
The enemy cavalry looked at it from a distance for a while, then turned and walked away.
Construction of the second floating bridge began overnight.
That night, hundreds of sidecars passed the first pontoon bridge and arrived at the other side.
On the early morning of the seventh day of June, Wang Queer issued an order to form a vehicle formation and marched towards the cucumber pile, overturning the rope head's lair.
At this time, in Langu County to the west, the cavalry of the General's Mansion, Peng Yinxi, who had been waiting for orders in the Chalu City area for a long time, finally received the order to attack.
At noon that day, he led more than 8,000 men, 20,000 horses, and ten days of rations. He left the Caocheng River, passed the old city of Loufan, and headed diagonally to the northeast. Then he passed through Mayi without entering, and went straight between Xinping and Pingcheng.
