268 Xu Mei’s Diary Part 1

With her brain completely relaxed, Xu Yue began to read the letter.

[February 18th, sunny and cloudless, seven o'clock in the evening]

Today is the tenth day after setting off from Beihai. The ship took the wrong direction and did not arrive in Xuzhou as planned. Instead, it arrived at Lelang in Liaoxi County.

The people here speak a completely different language from the Central Plains. Fortunately, some of the students have learned the dialects of the ethnic groups around Liaoxi County from Teacher Guang Luhai. After some intense language exchanges, Wei, who was about to seize our ship, took everyone

Let it go.

At this moment, I replayed everything that happened during the day in my mind, and I guessed that the reason why everything went so smoothly was just because they were afraid of the steel knives in our hands.

Because in terms of toughness, sharpness, and hardness, the iron scraps in their hands that seemed to have been left over from the time of the previous emperor had no fighting power at all.

The force value gives the team members a great sense of security at this moment. I will continue to strengthen physical training and strive not to hold the team members back.

[First day of April, dark clouds and light rain, one o'clock at noon]

It’s been a long time since I left Lelang Wei’s territory, but I still think of those women and children from time to time.

The women and children living on Lelang Beach are very thin and have very dark skin. They must be tanned by being exposed to the sun all year round. Most of them are afraid of strangers and do not interact with strangers, but they will quietly look at us in hidden corners.

.

The living standard of the Wei people here is very low, and they even feel a bit uncivilized in ancient times. They still fear the God of Fire and Water, and blindly worship fire and water.

In years of disaster, they would use their children to sacrifice to the gods of sea and fire to pray for good weather. This seems very foolish to us.

The sea is right in front of them, and the vast resources are right in front of them, but they don't know how to access them.

Fortunately, the child who was about to be sacrificed was saved by the team members.

We teach them how to build boats, teach them how to make fishing rods, weave fishing nets, take them fishing in the sea, tell them what kind of fish they can eat, and how to judge the danger and toxicity.

The rescued child gave us his most precious salt in order to thank us.

He also gave me, the doctor who checked his health and helped him get rid of a roundworm, a white conch.

This child is called Wei Xu. After he asked me my name, he gave himself such a name. He is a very cute boy.

Speaking of salt, this place is close to the sea, but there is no salt field. The nearest salt mine is far away from the Wei clan and is on the territory of another clan.

However, the extraction technology of that tribe is very backward, so most of the border residents here rely on caravan trade.

Boss Gongsun said that he had never been to this place because the cost and price of walking to Lelang by land were too high and the business was not worth doing.

But there are still many hawkers forming caravans to make a living, and they are not afraid of hard work to transport goods.

In general, although the border residents in Lelang no longer obey the control of the court, they do not pose a threat to the Central Plains. To deal with them, we only need to give them some benefits.

[April 28, sunny day after rain, 9:15 am]

Last night was such a thrilling night that I didn't have time to record anything.

Fortunately, things are calm now and the crisis has passed.

At this moment, I am sitting in the calm cabin, still feeling frightened.

We encountered a storm last night. The team members were inexperienced, coupled with the veteran crew's confusion about unfamiliar waters and misjudgment of the climate, we encountered the biggest storm since our departure.

In the storm, the big ship was like a rolling mixer, knocking us all out. Xu Qian and others had already recovered from their seasickness, but yesterday they were vomiting so much that they almost lost their fighting capacity.

If an enemy had attacked at that time, we would have been doomed.

Last night, various dangers came one after another. Fortunately, at the critical moment, Xu Nai remembered the giant banner Jin Guangyao given by his master.

The giant flag was shaken out by twenty people and hung on the mast with difficulty in the storm. In an instant, the golden light prevailed, tearing a hole in the darkness and leading the crew to safely pass through the center of the storm.

Afterwards, when everyone looked at the mess on the ship, they realized that the master's magic was so powerful!

[On the first day of May, the sky is sunny, at 6:30 in the evening]

We have landed successfully, but this is not Jiaozhou.

We stopped at the beach, with a dense primeval forest behind us, and no trace of anyone having set foot there.

However, when the team members made a fire at the beach and smoke rose, many hairy "people" came out of the forest.

They hid behind the palm trees and looked at them with wide eyes, their eyes fierce and full of aggression.

They were holding stone spears and wooden arrows in their hands. There were men and women. They put their hands on their chins and barked at us with warning.

At this time, we were very experienced, and we all knew how to deal with these uncivilized humans - they were indeed humans, and the more primitive they were, the more superstitious they were about ghosts and gods.

Xu Rong took out the water bag and demonstrated it to them. The continuous flow of water made those people look in horror.

Immediately afterwards, Xu Nai acted like a prank, using a black box to take objects out of thin air. With the shining and sharp blades in everyone's hands, these people all knelt down and muttered something to the ground, as if they were kneeling to worship the gods.

[The fifth day of May, the weather is sunny]

We have stayed on this strange island for five days. According to the original plan, we should leave on the second and third day of the lunar month, assuming that we can successfully replenish enough fresh water.

No one died in the storm a few days ago, but we lost two iron barrels, and the violent shaking of the ship's hull also caused the iron barrels filled with fresh water to topple over. After all, we were unable to protect these precious magical artifacts.

Miss Third, if you are reading this letter right now, please don’t be disappointed in us.

【The sixth day of May, heavy rain】

After investigation, we learned a lot of information from the local indigenous people.

The local indigenous people call this island "Gao" because there are many high mountains on the island, and they also call themselves the Gaoshan tribe. They believe in a variety of ghosts and gods - in fact, they do not have a unified belief, and they like to use human sacrifices.

The team members went deep into their camp and saw towers of human heads piled high in front of the simple village.

The team members were so frightened that Boss Gongsun immediately told everyone to leave quickly, so their first close contact with the local indigenous people ended in failure.

Fortunately, we added fresh water.

And after the team members’ precise calculations over the past few days, we roughly know the location of the island.
