107. Self-defeating?

Run-and-gun is not something that no one has ever done in the NBA. The old Nelson of the Mavericks has done it, but his record is very miserable. He won 20 games a year. He was fifth from the bottom and did not get the top three picks. He even only got the sixth pick.

The draft picks obtained were used to trade Nowitzki. In the second year, he won 19 games, eighth from the bottom. This year was a shrinking year, and he helped the Timberwolves select Szczerbiak.

Afterwards, Nelson resigned himself to his fate. Although he still liked to make some tricks, he was generally playing the balanced offensive and defensive basketball that he had succeeded in in the 1970s and 1980s. The development of running and gunning was therefore suspended.

But who would have thought that run-and-gun would appear again now! And it’s a little different from run-and-gun.

The Mavericks' bombardment is based on having a point guard with a historical level of organizational ability, while the Hawks are completely blind. One of the two guards attacks the basket, and the other catches and shoots. Unfortunately, these two guys are very fast.

The shots are all accurate.

In other words, these two are the only ones doing the running and gunning of the Eagles, and the other three players are all forwards with excellent physical fitness of 2.03 to 2.06 meters. They just run over to attack the two defenders when their shots are missed.

From this point of view, the Eagles' secondary attack on rebounds cannot be considered a run-and-gun game. Coach Kruger saw this when he heard Liu Mang mention this tactic, so he gave it a new name.

The Trail Blazers were unconsciously picked up by the Hawks and ran with them.

You can't do it without running! You can't just watch the opponent's fast attack!

And the Hawks' style of play is simply enough. No matter how effective the defensive end is, whether the Blazers score or not, it's all about speeding up! As long as the Blazers don't return to defense early, they will continue to speed up.

What can the Trail Blazers do? Run!

The Trail Blazers' three perimeter players actively returned to defense, and the two inside players had to run away! Rasheed Wallace's rebounding was not good in the first place. The year when he averaged the highest offensive rebounds per game was not more than two, and that was back then.

The Wizards rookie who was also called the Washington Bullets averaged 1.9 offensive rebounds per game when he was playing off the bench. In terms of rebounding, he mainly relied on defensive rebounds. If he didn't run back, he couldn't get defensive rebounds. In this game, the rebounds were again

One or two. When the Hawks' main forward is on the court, rebounds are out of his reach. The Hawks' frontcourt averages 28 rebounds per game, ranking first in the league!

Raheem averaged 10.6 rebounds per game, Muhammad averaged 11 rebounds per game, and Ratliff averaged 7 rebounds per game! The three frontcourt treasures that the Hawks rely on for survival.

After the first quarter, the Eagles led by 7 points, 26-19!

In the last five minutes of the first quarter, the Eagles went on a 17-4 run!

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Hawks continued to race, which made the Trail Blazers very confused. These days, there is no Suns that has the best record in the league, and there is no Popovich to specifically develop restraint and run-and-gun tactics.

style of play.

Popovich only started to pay attention to running and gunning after playing the Western Conference Finals with the Suns in 2005. In those years, the Spurs were basically the only ones who dared to say that they could beat the Suns' run-and-gun system. They said that the Suns could not run and gun in the playoffs.

They were completely suppressed by the Spurs and were eliminated in the playoffs. The Suns were able to reach the Western Conference Finals in 2005, and also made it to the second round in 2007 with a 2-2 tie with the Spurs. Their strength cannot be said to be negative.

powerful.

Before Popovich found a way to target the Suns, this epoch-making style of play really had no defensive precedent. Coach Cheeks wanted to replace Dale Davis to increase the height of the inside and force the Hawks to use Ratliff.

If he replaces it, the Eagles won't be able to continue running and playing.

It consumes the opponent's inside strength, and you can't care whether your own center can keep up, right?

However, when Cheeks saw the Hawks' lineup, he felt so angry that his stomach hurt.

Make something happen!

The Eagles replaced Liu Mang, Jason Terry, Chris Crawford, Raheem, and Leon Smith!

Leon Smith was a rookie of the Spurs in 1999. He was also a high school rookie. However, after being selected, this guy regretted it and said that he did not want to play in the NBA for the time being and went to college.

After the draft, he couldn't play in the NCAA again. As a result, he wasted two years. The Spurs didn't want him anymore, and finally he came to the Hawks.

His physical fitness is very good, otherwise he would not be in the first round as a high school student, but he missed the two most important years of his 18s and 19s. This year he was signed by the Eagles and got his first chance to play.

Leon Smith has been quite famous in the past two years, mainly because he was so funny that he forgot that he would not be able to play in the NCAA after joining the NBA.

Poor skills? It doesn't matter, just run and rely on your physical fitness to hit offensive rebounds.

It really comes down to physical fitness. Among the people on the field, except for Raheem who may have an advantage in flexibility, no one can compare to Leon Smith. This guy entered the first round of the draft after graduating from high school purely relying on physical fitness.

The fight between Liu Mang and Jason Terry was so exciting. As the spearheads of the cavalry, you throw one and I throw the other. The two of them are getting more and more comfortable with each other.

Seeing that the score reached 25-35, which was more than ten points, Coach Cheeks gritted his teeth and called a timeout, replacing Dale Davis instead of replacing Rainman Kemp, another big man inside. He accepted his fate.

It is not difficult for Coach Cheeks to guess that Coach Kruger forced him to replace the two players with the strongest defensive ability at the basket!

Seeing the opponent calling a timeout, Coach Kruger smiled. The plan was successful!

Coach Kruger replaced the strongest lineup again. Liu Mang, Jason Terry, Raheem, Muhammad, and Ratliff were all on the lineup. He was not afraid that the opponent would not replace the tall guy, as long as he came back from the timeout.

The opponent didn't make a substitution, so he immediately called a timeout.

What a simple and kind-hearted coach Kruger is, and now he has followed his example and gone bad!

"Ace, get down in position, you know how to play. Jason, open up the space. Sharif, be ready to receive Ace's pass at any time..." Coach Kruger made tactical arrangements, mainly three outside lines, offensive

The point is here. Grab rebounds inside and be ready to catch the ball and dunk directly. The two offensive ends of the Eagles only have so much role.

Jason Terry doesn't have any complaints about being a shooter who opens up the space. The main reason is that he was almost exhausted from running for the past ten minutes. Fortunately, the opposite team was forced to substitute, otherwise it would be difficult to continue running.

How well can I fight?

What Jason Terry is most puzzled about Liu Mang is how this kid can run so well, without panting, he keeps running, and he still has so much energy!

After returning from the timeout, the Blazers' main players have almost rested. There are 7 minutes left in the second quarter. Originally, their main players should not have come back so early. The rotating lineup should have played for a while longer, but there is no way! The point difference is 10

If the game is divided, half-time becomes garbage time? As a team that only reached the Western Conference Finals two years ago, this is shameless!

The Trail Blazers' lineup became Flying Squirrel, Ruben Patterson, Pippen, Bunch Wells, and Rasheed Wallace.

The Trail Blazers were forced to use a smaller lineup, but the Hawks were not afraid. Just as they expected, even if the lineup became lighter, the Trail Blazers still maintained a slow pace.

The little flying squirrel pushed forward, and Liu Mang immediately followed it.

Rasheed Wallace and Bunch Wells opened up the space, and the little flying squirrel rushed to the basket with Liu Mang on defense!

The Blazers also want to go wild, but Ratliff can't defend him!

The little flying squirrel rushed to the three-second zone and then scored the ball in the bottom corner!

Rasheed Wallace caught the ball and hit a three-pointer from the corner, stopping the Blazers' bleeding.

This is so accurate!

"Rashid Wallace, ability value 83, offense 79, defense 84, three-point shooting 80..."

Excellent 3D big man!

If it were placed fifteen years later, it would be at least 25 million per year!

Rasheed Wallace was uncomfortable playing in the previous games of this season. The new coach prefers to arrange twin towers inside, and he prefers to play on the outside. Instead, he was liberated by the Eagles' trick today.

Immediately after the Hawks' Liu Mang and Rahim's pick-and-roll thrower failed to go in, Rahim turned around and hit another three-pointer.

Watching Rasheed Wallace play, Liu Mang felt it was inappropriate. Although they liked the current rhythm, the opponent had no support inside and it was easier for them to attack the basket, but they couldn't stand up to Rasheed Wallace's behavior.

***The author has something to say***

Since I am not in the middle of the month, I guess it will be the 1st. I will continue typing and try to write a few more chapters today. I used up all the manuscripts I had saved during the few days when I was hospitalized due to my throat collapse. It hurts. Finally, please vote for recommendations~
