Chapter 80 Daorong
Three days passed in a blink of an eye, and a Buddhist altar had been set up at the foot of Zhongnan Mountain.
When the Golden Crow was born, it was crowded with monks from all over the world.
It's just that most of them looked disgraced. It's not hard to guess that they were captured by Liu Yizhen and worked for a few days.
"Get out of the way!"
Suddenly many soldiers in armor suddenly emerged from the crowd, shouting at the monks, and directly kicked those who didn't move.
"Ouch!"
A monk was kicked to the ground and turned to look at the soldiers dissatisfied: "What are you doing? Why are you so rude to us?"
The soldier sneered, and actually pulled out the blade from his waist, approaching the opponent with a trace of evil aura on his body.
"Don't come over! Don't come over!"
The monk was so frightened that he stomped on the ground and retreated quickly, shouting as he retreated.
The soldier refused to give up. He stepped forward and chopped off the blade of the sword in his hand. The blade was inserted ten inches in front of the monk's crotch.
"hiss."
There was a slight sound of water flowing, and a smell came from the monk's crotch. It was obvious that he had peed.
Seeing the officers and soldiers insulting the monks in this way, many people around them stared at the officers and soldiers angrily.
"No matter what you are staring at, get away."
"I haven't come to you to settle the accounts before when you monks assassinated Duke Chang'an. Don't be shameless."
But it was Fan Daoji who rushed over immediately after seeing the commotion here.
After Fan Daoji escorted Liu Yilong away, he was arranged by Liu Yizhen to be responsible for security work.
Today's Dharma Assembly will naturally be defended by Fan Daoji, and Fan Daoji will naturally protect Liu Yizhen's safety at all costs.
When everyone saw Fan Daoji mentioning the assassination, they knew they were wrong and dispersed.
The Dharma Assembly began soon, and the monk guide slowly came to the Buddhist altar wearing a worn-out monk's robe.
Seeing the monk guide appear, the monks in the audience immediately exploded and cursed the old man.
"Boom!"
It was only when the soldiers stamped their feet in unison, put their hands on the handles of their swords, and glanced at the crowd with fierce eyes that the group of monks became silent.
"quiet!"
At this time, a small official who presided over the Dharma assembly appeared.
"The Duke of Chang'an is giving you the opportunity to ask Master Sengdao for Buddhist teachings. Please don't make any noise."
Ask for advice?
Aren't you here to debate?
However, due to Fan Daoji's appearance before, the monk's momentum had already been reduced by more than one head, and no one dared to jump out anymore.
The clerk shouted again at the top of his lungs: "There are three conditions for this Dharma conference. Please listen carefully."
"First! What you say is only about Buddhism. Don't talk about anything else. If anyone takes the opportunity to slander others with words, behead him."
"Second! Only one person can be on stage at a time. If anyone disrupts the order, behead him!"
"Third! No matter whether you win or lose, if there is anyone who is messing around on the Buddhist altar, behead him!"
The three words of "cut" caused the monk's arrogance to be reduced a bit. At this time, there were few opinions on how to look normal.
"Now that everyone has heard clearly, we can begin!"
When the clerk called for the start time, no one came forward directly.
It wasn't until half a stick of incense was passed that a monk strode out.
"Look! Someone is coming up!"
"Who is that?"
"It seems...it's Master Daorong!"
The monk guide looked at the monk who came forward with some surprise.
But he still put his hands together and saluted: "Junior brother, long time no see."
Yes, Daorong was also a disciple of Kumarajiva.
Dao Rong saw that the monk's face was neither sad nor happy, but what he said was extremely ruthless: "I heard that you have become a disciple of Duke Chang'an. How can I dare to call myself your junior brother?"
"I worship Duke Chang'an as my teacher, not because I mean to cling to powerful people, but because Duke Chang'an really has great wisdom."
Daorong didn't say anything, just showed disdain.
The monk's guide then advised: "Junior brother, there are really people with great wisdom in the world, such as Duke Chang'an and senior brother Seng Zhao."
Seng Zhao Shanfang is a master of the Mahayana classics and a master of the Tripitaka. He is talented in profound thoughts and good at talking. He is praised by Kumarajiva as "the first person to understand the void in China". His understanding of Buddhism surpasses Kumarajiva's other disciples.
It is a pity that Seng Zhao died young and died of illness at the age of thirty-one.
"Shut up! How dare you mention Senior Brother Seng Zhao!"
Daorong was now filled with images of King Kong's angry eyes.
In his opinion, comparing Liu Yizhen and Seng Zhao was an insult to Seng Zhao.
The monk guide sighed: "Junior brother, the prejudices in people's hearts are like a big mountain. Since junior brother can't move this mountain, let me help junior brother."
Dao Rong suppressed the fire in his heart and taunted: "Then let me see what skills you and Master Chang'an have learned!"
The monk's guide's face showed a look of sorrow and he chanted the Buddha's name again.
Dao Rong was the first to attack: "If God is destroyed, how can we know that it is destroyed?"
The monk replied: "The spirit is the form, and the form is the spirit. Therefore, if the form exists, the spirit will exist, and if the form disappears, the spirit will disappear."
Dao Rong asked: "Form is called ignorance, and spirit is called knowledge. Knowledge and ignorance are different things. Spirit and form are not the same. Form and spirit are the same, which is not what we have heard."
The monk replied: "Form is the substance of the spirit, and spirit is the function of the form. Therefore, the form refers to the essence, and the spirit expresses its function. The form and the spirit cannot be different."
As soon as Daorong came up, he asked the monk:
You said that the spirit will perish. How do you know that it will perish?
The monk responded: The spirit and the body are combined, and the body and the spirit are combined and inseparable. Therefore, when the body exists, the spirit exists. When the body declines, the spirit also disappears.
Dao Rong asked again: "Body" means "non-consciousness", "spirit" means "consciousness", consciousness and non-consciousness are actually two different things. According to this principle, spirit and body are not allowed to be combined into one, and body and spirit cannot be combined.
I've never heard of it.
The monk replied: The body is the essence of the spirit, and the spirit is the function of the body. Therefore, the body is in terms of substance, and the spirit is in terms of function. The body and spirit cannot be separated from each other.
Every answer given by the monk was almost flawless, leaving no room for Dao Rong to refute.
Later, Daorong asked several more questions, ranging from saints to gods, from the universe to all things. However, no matter how tricky the questions were, the monks and guides were able to respond with corresponding answers.
The debate topic between the two people was actually "How to prove the existence of gods and Buddhas?"
On this issue, the monk can definitely hang Dao Rong and beat him, because it is a fact that no god appears.
The monk wants to prove that a "fact" is a "fact", but it is much easier than Dao Rong to prove that a "false" is a "fact".
If Dao Rong wants to prove that gods exist, then pull out a god and show it to everyone!
If it didn't work out, he would just wipe his neck and commit suicide to see if he could see the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss or the Infinite Hell. Then let the Buddha or Ksitigarbha revive him.
Therefore, neither Liu Yizhen nor Director Seng paid much attention to the outcome of "what to do if we lose".
Unless someone can pull out a god to show Liu Yizhen how to calculate the cosmological constant and list the equations for the theory of everything, it is absolutely impossible for Liu Yizhen to admit the existence of God.
Daorong obviously can't do this.
He was just like the monk guide when he met Liu Yizhen on the first day. The law of all things shattered the virtual gods and Buddhas he believed in.
