Chapter 66 Guardian of Time

This is a tower similar to an old-fashioned clock tower, about tens of meters high. Although it is not as tall as the Shuiguang Tower, its width and area are far from comparable to the core tower of Hylia.

It is built entirely of countless carefully polished marble bricks, with exquisite carvings on the outside, like a pattern of the passage of time, giving people a sense of tranquility and comfort.

Not only that, many places in the tower show the exquisite traces of clockwork mechanisms, with a few dark green moss dotted on the exterior, and the slight traces of time showing throughout the entire tower, giving the entire tower an indescribable sense of age.

[This is impossible!] Runesia blurted out, her tone full of disbelief, [How could there be an Icathia building in the gap between time?!]

"There is nothing possible or impossible." Josh's already silent mind suddenly began to fluctuate, "This world is full of miracles, miracles from magic, isn't it?"

With that said, Josh slowly approached the main entrance at the bottom of the tower.

Before he could reach out and push it open, as if he had been informed of their arrival in advance, he heard the sound of gears and chains running, and in front of him, a heavy double stone door several meters wide and decorated with novel patterns slowly opened.

And an old man wearing brown, red and gray and white traditional robes, with gray hair on his face, was standing a few steps away from the main entrance.

He was thin, with a beard longer than his hair hanging down in front of him, and a pair of eyes covered by thick and long white eyebrows shone with emerald light.

After walking up the stairs to the second floor, where he could almost see the hall, Kieran found an empty spot to pause, holding on to the railing and looking down.

Kieran couldn't hear Lunessia's sarcasm, but from Josh's slightly furrowed brows, he could still guess a little bit of the content despite his age being several decades beyond what a normal person should live.

Their horrified eyes stared at the windows of the tower, as if they had seen something indescribable and terrifying, and they subconsciously made moves to protect themselves.

"But a group of sand trolls united with radical civilians to shape these disobedient people who were publicly executed by the empire into victims of oppression, and further promoted the sentiment of hatred, and even attempted to apply for an ascension quota to gain resistance to Shuri

The power of Ma..."

Kieran isn't alone inside his tower.

"She is right. The Icathians do hate Shurima deep in their hearts. This is the propaganda of their parents and the sand trolls who have survived since the conquest of Icathia.

Even I made mistakes at the time."

"Shut up, my goddess!" Josh felt that his head was about to explode from Lunisia's roar, "We made an agreement at the beginning, and you are not allowed to shout in my head.

Yell!"

Subconsciously, Josh thought of Ryze, who had been traveling around the world for thousands of years in order to collect and seal the world's runes, refusing to stop.

[Icacia...Icacia!] Seeing this scene, Runesia instantly accumulated countless grief and anger.

[That’s right.] Lunessia did not deny Josh’s statement at all, [The Shurima Empire is very ambitious and its goal of conquest is the entire world, but...]

Just as Josh had expected, Lunessia lost control and roared:

"But... Lunessia, not every Icathian is a radical."

He is the great time guardian of Icathia. He has devoted his whole life to studying time and exploring countless parallel world lines, just to prevent the destruction of Icathia and the future of Runeterra.

However, the actual situation cannot be completely substituted into the known written description. What is the grudge between Shurima and Icathia has to be told by Lunessia, a person who has experienced it.

Kieran sighed, and his whole person suddenly felt a sense of loneliness and decadence.

"No need to be polite, just call me Kieran." Kieran sighed, not surprised at all that Josh recognized him, "Josh, can I just call you by your name?"

Because in the backstory of Zieran and Jax, the attitudes of the people of Icathia regarding Shurima are completely opposite.

"Master Kiran." Josh said in Icathian, with excitement in his tone.

Josh fell silent again.

The door closed with a rumbling sound behind him, and Josh looked at Kieran, imitating his actions just now, and responded with Icathian etiquette.

Of course, since it was a hostile stance after all, it was impossible for Josh to just take her word for it.

Unfortunately, at that time, Kiran wanted to escape from the capital, but the governing council of elders in Icathia had blindly and foolishly released the void.

【If it were you, Josh, what would you do?】

"Of course, Master Kiran."

[Josh Russell, have you ever known why we treat so many city-states with courtesy, but only target one Icacia? 】

It had been too long since he had communicated with a stranger other than Runesia.

When the gathering life attracted the attention of the void monster, and when the corrupted maw of nothingness intended to swallow the tower, Kieran did what he could not have done -

"I knew you would come." Kieran whispered slowly and in a low voice, which sounded like the desolation of sunset, "Please come in, Josh Russell."

[Oh, it’s really rare that this maggot actually knows me.] Runisia’s words were full of teasing, [In order to know yourself and the enemy to plan for rebellion, you must secretly study every god warrior in our Ascension Group, right? 】

He removed his tower from the timeline.

[Haha...] Lunessia sneered disdainfully, [Do you know the reason why Icacia betrayed Shurima? 】

Kieran was silent for a moment, then continued to motion for Josh to follow him and walked deeper into the corridor, while saying:

"This is a very complicated grudge, involving the love and hatred of family and country. It is indeed reasonable to commemorate the last mage king who was loved by everyone. However, when he hates Shurima and openly insults the emperor and the ascended ones, he violates the law and is banned by the empire.

Suppression is justifiable.

"She should have told you the reason why Icathia betrayed Shurima, right?"

"Well, you can just call me Kieran." Kieran waved his hand, turned around and walked towards the inside of the tower, "Come with me."

However, Josh ignored Luneshia's reminder and went directly inside the tower, standing about four or five steps away from Kieran.

[Once upon a time, the mage king of Icathia rejected our offer to surrender. Our Ascended Army entered the capital of Icathia and killed the mage king. The Kaua'ali guards who escorted him also committed suicide. 】

[Even after accepting Shurima's favorable treatment, these damn maggots who have the root of rebellion buried deep in their bones said nothing about it, still refused to agree with our culture, and even repeatedly insulted the royal bloodline and the Ascension Group!]

He bowed with Icathian etiquette and made a gesture of invitation.

Kieran blew his beard and shook his head, "That dark descendant should be called...Lunisia, right? The holder of the Dance of Death, the goddess of death who studied under Grand Master Nasus, if I remember correctly."

Kieran's frown revealed deep sadness, and the fatigue and weariness in his eyes were something that someone who had only lived a lifetime could never understand.

Josh endured the pain he was accustomed to and frowned, "That was a decision made by the elders of Icacia. What does it have to do with innocent civilians?"

Lunessia used magic to sting Josh's arm, and her voice was trembling: [Josh, kill them, kill all these Icathian maggots! You know, they almost dragged this world into the abyss...

Josh was silent for a moment, "Because there are so many talented people in Icathia, Shurima doesn't give them a place to ascend, and always suppresses them cruelly?"

Lunisia laughed angrily, [The contempt for the overlord country has reached an undisguised level, but they still shamelessly applied to the City of the Sun for ascension quotas time and time again. They were rejected by us, but they were even more resentful towards us.]

The earth cracked open, and the corrupt and evil tentacles of the void protruded from the ground, swallowing up most of the city-state and tens of thousands of innocent people almost instantly.

[Damn Icathians! Damn scum! A bunch of stupid beasts and maggots! I will kill them, chop them into pieces one by one, and feed them to pigs and dogs. Death is not a pity!!]

"These are the refugees I saved in despair. I have been looking for a way to unfreeze their time... Forget it, don't worry about these."

[But even after hundreds of years, the long-lived sand trolls still harbor hatred for Shurima, and will continue this hatred to every generation of their descendants!]

[This guy actually knows you?!] Runesia shouted in surprise, [Don’t go in! This may be created by time magic... uh, time undead? 】

The silent Josh walked to Kieran, stood side by side with him, and looked down at the people who were imprisoned in time.

[I admit that the Sun Queen of that generation was indeed violent and inappropriate. She ordered the bones of the mage king beloved by the Icathian people to be nailed to the city wall and allowed to rot, while the Khaoari's corpses were exposed on the streets.

No one is allowed to collect the body.]

Josh did not expect this situation before. He had not read the relevant records of Hylia and had no idea what the actual situation was.

Even if he knew the background, he really didn't know this.

Kieran seemed to notice the fluctuations of corrupt magic behind him, and said without looking back: "It seems that the dark descendant in you should be resentful of us, right?"

Kieran sighed again and looked back at the amber vertical eyes of Dance of Death tied to the sling on Josh's chest.

Josh recognized the old man in front of him at a glance as Kieran.

Along with them, except for Kiran, are the Icathians who have fallen into time stasis.

At this moment, these refugees are filling the huge hall, including men, women, old and young.

[They regard us as fools, thinking that we don’t know the despicable betrayal in their hearts...]

She suddenly changed the topic and raised her tone: [We have always been kind to the kingdoms and city-states that have been incorporated into the empire. We treat every Shurima citizen equally, and we never begrudge the ascension quota, as long as the Sun Priest Group approves it. ]

And some people who were in despair but very lucky, under the guidance of Kieran, poured into his tower.

A golden time disk in the style of ancient Shurima floated behind the old man, held up by the elemental magic of the breath of time, emitting an emerald green light consistent with the color of his eyes.

Because of the conflict between the background descriptions of Kieran and Jax and the settings of the Icathians, everything is based on the settings of this book.

I recommend this book by a big guy in the group! The world view of Fengshen is very exciting. If you are not a book reader, you can take a look!
