Chapter 87 I give you the status of a vassal state

The Indochina Peninsula is located between the southwestern border of China and the South Asian subcontinent. The peninsula is deeply wedged into the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean. The Strait between the Malay Peninsula, the southernmost end of the peninsula and the Dutch East India Island opposite the Strait of Malacca.

The total area of the Indochina Peninsula is more than 2 million square kilometers. The mountains, rivers, rivers, plains, grasslands and tropical rainforests are densely packed with hot climates and abundant rainfall. Nonferrous metals, oil, natural gas, forests, and water resources are abundant, especially natural rubber, oil palm and other outputs occupies an important position in the world.

Among the countries on the peninsula, except for the Ren'anqiang Oilfield in Myanmar, which is a modern industrial facility worth mentioning, other countries are backward agricultural countries, with the largest crop yields such as rice, sugarcane, coconut oil, pepper, etc., and there is almost no modern industry. Among them, only Siam has always been a sovereign and independent country. The eastern part of the peninsula is all French colonies, called French Indochina; the western area bordering the Indian mainland and the northern coast of the Strait of Malacca at the southern end of the peninsula are both British colonies, and the huge Indochina Peninsula is basically divided by Britain and France.

The Indochina Peninsula is connected to China's land and sea. It has been deeply influenced by China since ancient times in terms of economy, science and technology, culture, etc. Especially the Chinese immigrants who settled in this area account for a large proportion of the population in the region, forming an important political and economic group in the region's society.

Take Vietnam, a country located on the easternmost part of the Indochina Peninsula, as an example. It was included in China's territory from the Qin Dynasty in China. By the Qing Dynasty, it existed as an independent country as a vassal state of the Qing Empire, and it was the same as that of North Korea. In 1884, the French invading army defeated the Vietnamese army and the Qing army stationed in Vietnam, and occupied Vietnam. Since then, Vietnam has become a French colony.

Therefore, no matter what aspect, it is reasonable to be controlled by the Qing Empire. This area should be made to contribute to the development of the Qing Empire instead of being fished by these greedy Europeans from afar! Furthermore, the French Indochina region is quite narrow and long, with land extending from north to south into the depths of the South China Sea. Its coastline is very close to Hainan Island in the South China Sea, Xisha, Zhongsha, Dongsha and Nansha Islands in the South China Sea. Its location is extremely beneficial for controlling the Nansha Islands and the South China Sea. Once the war breaks out, the French Navy attacks from any port on the southeast coast of French Indochina, it can easily cut off the maritime transportation line between Hainan Island and Nanhua Island, which can lead to the Nanhua Province not being supported by the Qing Empire and being in danger of losing it! Therefore, the Indochina Peninsula is not only the barrier of the southwestern land defense of the Qing Empire, but also the cornerstone of the South China Sea sea defense.

Therefore, the existence of Britain and France on the Indochina Peninsula really made Kang Fan feel uncomfortable as if he was stuck in his throat! This is a huge dangerous loophole that exists on the southwest border of the Qing Empire! It must be remedied at all costs. If the Indochina Peninsula is controlled, the national defense situation of the entire Qing Empire will be completely improved, and it will be able to better deal with foreign invasions.

After entering the 20th century, the Qing Empire rose strongly under the leadership of the Beining area. All of this led to a strong return sentiment in the Vietnamese people. On the one hand, the Qing Empire, as the sovereign state, has always been able to give Vietnam real national sovereignty and sufficient national dignity, and provides strong support in the fields of politics, economy, culture, military, etc., with many benefits. This is a world of difference from the colonial rule of plunder and slavery implemented by France; on the other hand, it is because of the people who have come from ancient times.

The ethnic dependence complex, which was deeply rooted by the Qing Empire, was no longer possible to accept a European colonial ideology that was very different from this, brought about by the French with guns and violence. Therefore, since France annexed Vietnam, the struggle between Vietnamese citizens against the cruel colonial rule of the French has never stopped, and uprisings have occurred frequently everywhere. Especially after the outbreak of World War I, the national liberation movement in Vietnam became more and more intense, seriously impacting the foundation of the French colonial government.

This is true in Vietnam, and so is other countries on the Indochina Peninsula that have been exploited and exploited by France and Britain.

The Beining government has always given the Indochina National Liberation Organization selfless support for weapons, materials and personnel training, and has real people and advantages. Moreover, due to the defeat of the British and French coalition forces in the early stage of World War I, nearly one million officers and soldiers were eliminated by the German army, and there was a serious shortage of troops. Therefore, it is necessary to draw troops from various colonies around the world to deal with the crisis on the European battlefield, including of course the Indochina Peninsula. After a large number of garrisons withdraw from the Indochina Peninsula, their control over this area was greatly weakened, and it was even more impossible to take military revenge against the Qing Empire. This is a time advantage that the Beining military has picked up. As for the advantage of geographical advantages, the Indochina Peninsula was originally a close neighbor of the Qing Empire, and it has existed since ancient times.

So, after taking advantage of the time, place, and people, why should Kang Fan not do anything?

However, the sudden change that followed was unexpected: in the last few days of March 1915, headed by the Vietnam Nguyen dynasty, other Indochina Peninsula countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaya, Singapore successively declared independence and separated from the colonial rule of Britain and France, and jointly chose the Qing Empire as the sovereign rule, demanding that the Qing Empire restore its original close vassal relationship and requested to provide it with force protection. Before the Qing Empire made a statement, various countries launched armed uprisings and openly declared war on the local French and British colonial governments. In April, the entire Indochina Peninsula was in full swing.

In this way, the Qing Empire was collectively pushed to an unstoppable situation by the countries on the Indochina Peninsula! Even if Kang Fan did not have a plan to send troops immediately, he would have sent troops.

In May 1915, the Qing Empire announced to the world that in order to protect the interests of the Qing Empire's expatriates in the Indochina Peninsula, to maintain peace and stabilize the situation in the surrounding areas, support the people in the Indochina Peninsula to resist colonial rule, seek national liberation, national independence, and return to the vassal system of the Qing Empire, the Qing Empire would send troops to intervene. Subsequently, the combat operation code-named "Go to the Nest" began to be implemented.

The Beining army, composed of all armored mechanized troops, crossed China-Vietnam with the air support of the army aviation forces, and the land border between China and Myanmar was divided into multiple steel torrents. With the full assistance of the armed forces of the National Liberation Organization of the Indochina Peninsula and the local people, they drove straight in. Wherever they passed, the British and French garrisons gave up their resistance and surrendered, making the "return to the nest" operation easily ended in just 21 days, and it can almost be called "free from bloodshed!"

Previously, the few naval main warships that Britain and France had already been dispatched to the Atlantic Ocean, and the remaining inferior warships could escape, and those who could not escape had to surrender, resulting in the Beining Navy losing its opponent before it could be dispatched, and it turned from a front-line combat force to a second-line force that transported logistics supplies to the army! Siam, who had always wanted to become a vassal state of the Qing Empire and enjoyed the protection of force, finally got his wish at this time and had the same identity as other Indochina Peninsula countries. The Beining army immediately entered the countries of the Indochina Peninsula and quickly completed its defense deployment, focusing on strengthening the defense of the Sino-Indian and Burma-Indian border areas to deal with possible land-boundary invasions by the British troops stationed in India.

In this way, on May 30, 1915, the Qing Empire announced to the world that the Qing Empire's army, as the sect-master troops to maintain peace in the surrounding areas, will continue to stay in the various vassal states on the Indochina Peninsula. As for when to withdraw troops, it will depend on the will of the people of the Indochina Peninsula and the changes in the regional situation. Then, all prisoners of war from Britain and France were sent back to British India, which was close to Myanmar, and all the assets left by Britain and France on the Indochina Peninsula were returned to governments.

The reason why the "Hometown" operation was implemented so smoothly was that in addition to the Beining army occupying all the time, place, and people, the main reason is that Britain and France have few troops in this area, and are mainly infantry, so they cannot fight against the Beining Army's armored mechanized troops.

Taking India, the largest and best-quality colony in Asia and the world, as an example, the land area and population here are more than ten times that of the British mainland, and various resources are extremely abundant, but the British army only has more than 60,000 people, let alone other small colonies in Asia.

And Singapore.

Singapore is the most important naval base in the Far East. Although this island country with an area of only more than 700 square kilometers is located at the southernmost tip of the Indochina Peninsula, it guards the entrances and exits south of the Strait of Malacca and is of great strategic value.

Since 1826, it has become a British colony. With the subsequent use of steam-powered ships, the opening of the Suez Canal, and the development of rubber planting in Southeast Asia, Singapore has gradually become an important mooring port for ships sailing between East Asia and Europe and the world's major rubber export and processing bases. A large number of Chinese immigrants came here from Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan and other places to make a living, forming the main social population group here and an extremely important political and economic force in the local society. By the beginning of the 20th century, Singapore rose to the government seat of the British colonies around the Strait of Malacca, and the society became more prosperous.

But Britain only invested heavily in building an empty naval base here, and did not host large main warships. The scale of the garrison was extremely inconsistent with the investment of the base. Both Britain and France considered this way: in the Far East, there was no strong enough to challenge their enemies, and of course there was no need to dispatch main troops. Even if something happened, it would not be too late to send troops from Europe. Therefore, it was natural for the Beining army to win. Moreover, after taking Singapore, the Beining Navy easily obtained an overseas military base with ideal facilities and scale, which was a surprise!

In this way, after controlling the Indochina Peninsula, the South China Sea will no longer be the forefront of coastal defense in the direction of the Indian Ocean of the Qing Empire, but will push the defense scope westward to Myanmar and the front line of the Siam coast, which has great strategic significance.
