Chapter Thirty-Three. His Tenderness
Qu Tao has been very strict with Ruoning since he was a child, but he has never beaten her harshly. After the beating, he felt regretful and smoked irritably.
Ruoning, on the other hand, couldn't help but shed tears after leaving the teahouse. She has grown up and has never been slapped by anyone. She is still the father she respects. She feels that her father's original image is falling apart in her heart.
After Ren Shaochen finished talking to a client in the teahouse, he saw a familiar figure passing by in front of his eyes from the box. He was about to step forward, but he paused when he remembered the bad breakup with her last time.
"Mr. Ren." Secretary Qiu called Ren Shaochen from the side, reminding him that the client's hand was still free.
Ren Shaochen came back to his senses, nodded and smiled, shook hands with the customer, and said: "I hope to have the opportunity to cooperate with Mr. Wang."
After watching the customer go, Ren Shaochen looked around and saw Qu Ruoning's white car. She was sitting in the car with her head against the steering wheel. He couldn't see her expression.
"You go back first." Ren Shaochen told Secretary Qiu and hurriedly walked towards the car.
Standing in front of the car door, Ren Shaochen knocked on the car window with his fingers.
Ruoning raised her head and saw Ren Shaochen right in front of her through the glass.
Ren Shaochen knocked again. Ruoning hesitated and pressed the door unlock button. Ren Shaochen walked around to the passenger seat, opened the door and got in.
Ruoning lowered her head, her long hair half covering one side of her face that was red and swollen.
"What's wrong with you?" Ren Shaochen's magnetic voice sounded in the car. He looked sideways at Ruoning, but Ruoning seemed to be avoiding it, looking out, leaving the back of her head for him.
Ren Shaochen saw Qu Ruoning's face in the rearview mirror. There was a red mark on the left side of her face. He reached out to hold her thin shoulders and turned her body back.
Ruoning still lowered her head and dodged. She didn't want Ren Shaochen to see her in such a miserable state.
"Who hit him?" Ren Shaochen asked in a deep voice with a pale face.
Ruoning bit her lip and did not answer. Her tears had long since stopped, but her eyes were red. Being shown such concern by Ren Shaochen, tears filled her eyes again, but in the end she still held back and did not let them fall.
When Ren Shaochen saw that she didn't answer, he didn't force himself. He took out two tissues and handed them to her. From the corner of his eye, he saw Qu Tao walking out of the teahouse, and he suddenly understood what was going on.
"Did you quarrel with dad?" Ren Shaochen asked in an almost determined tone.
Ruoning was silent. Knowing that she acquiesced, Ren Shaochen raised his hand and rubbed her hair and said, "Wait a moment."
After finishing speaking, Ren Shaochen turned around, opened the door, ran to the 24-hour convenience store next to him, and then quickly ran back.
After Ren Shaochen sat back in, Ruoning felt ice on her face. She lowered her eyes and looked sideways. It was a can of iced drink. The iron sheet was pressed against her face to relieve the burning pain.
She held the jar and whispered thank you.
The water on the jar dropped. Ren Shaochen took out two more paper towels and put them on his hands to cover Ruoning's hand and the jar.
He was not good at comforting words, so he could only stay silent with Ruoning.
"Thank you." Half of Ruoning's face was covered with ice and she was unconscious. She moved her hand away, raised her eyes and thanked Ren Shaochen again.
Ren Shaochen wiped the water droplets on her face with a tissue, and said in a deep voice softly: "I have said it many times, there is no need to be so polite and unfamiliar between us."
If Ruo narrowed her eyes and unconsciously clenched the body of the jar with her hands hanging on her knees, the last thing she could not resist was Ren Shaochen's tenderness.
"The eyes are as red as rabbits. Let's change places and I'll drive." Ren Shaochen suggested.
Ruoning nodded. After changing places, she still lowered her head. Ren Shaochen felt that she was in a very low mood. He reached out and shook her hand on his lap, wrapping it tightly with his warm and dry palm.
The ground pressed against the back of Ruoning's cold hand.
The car drove into the community and the two opened the door and got out. Ren Shaochen's palm naturally inserted into Ruoning's palm, holding her hand and clasping the back of her hand with his fingertips.
Ruoning drew back her hands uncomfortably and took them away. Ren Shaochen's palms hanging by his legs were empty for a moment. After being distracted for a moment, he raised his hands and inserted them diagonally into his suit trouser pockets.
Divorced, what he just did was overstepping the bounds.
After entering the house, Ren Shaochen walked into the bathroom first, twisted a towel for Ruoning, and asked her to apply it gently on her face.
"Sit wherever you want." Ruoning put the books on the sofa on the table.
Ren Shaochen frowned. He hadn't been here for a few days. The originally tidy house now looked quite messy. It was probably because she had injured her foot before and it was difficult to clean up.
Ren Shaochen looked around, unbuttoned the cufflinks of his shirt, rolled up the shirt five minutes, bent down to pack up the books on the table, and placed them neatly in a corner of the table.
Seeing the empty ice cream box on the table, she frowned slightly, looked at Ruoning and said, "You have a bad stomach, don't be greedy for cold and eat ice."
"This is what Qianrong ate." Ruoning retorted subconsciously. She used to be greedy for cold and loved ice, but after being warned by Ren Shaochen once, she rarely ate ice. In fact, think about it, in her previous marriage
, she is really obedient.
Ren Shaochen returned his gaze, threw the ice cream box into the trash can, turned around and walked to the balcony to get a vacuum cleaner.
"I'll clean it up myself." Ruoning put down the towel and took Ren Shaochen's vacuum cleaner.
Ren Shaochen reached out and pushed her back onto the sofa, sighing helplessly: "Take care of your face first."
After that, she put the towel back on her face. She pressed the towel gently and watched Ren Shaochen busy cleaning the house. She found it very interesting and the corners of his mouth curved slightly. He started doing housework,
Just like his work, he is meticulous and strives for perfection.
After cleaning up the house, Ren Shaochen took the garbage downstairs to take out.
Ruoning's cell phone rang and she pulled it out. The caller was her mother-in-law Li Xueqin. She picked up the phone and whispered: "Mom."
"Ah Ning, why haven't you called home for so long?" Li Xueqin said with a smile, but there was no blame in her words.
Li Xueqin has always lived in the countryside and has a friendly and simple personality. Although she and Ruoning don't meet often, she is very kind to her. Ruoning has never experienced the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law fighting in TV dramas, and they get along very harmoniously. They even talk on the phone.
He is more diligent in dealing with people than Ren Shaochen.
It's just that after the divorce, Ruoning didn't call her again. Firstly, her status was different, and secondly, she didn't know how to explain to the old man that she and Ren Shaochen were divorced.
"I just went back to work recently and am a little busy." Ruoning whispered apologetically, then changed the topic: "Mom, how are you and dad doing recently?"
"Okay, everything is fine. I just miss you." Li Xueqin smiled, chatting with Ruoning, and said, "When do you have time to come back? I picked a lot of osmanthus flowers. When you come, I will make your best meal."
My favorite mandarin fish.”
Ruoning lowered her head and looked at the calendar on the table. It turned out that the 15th day of the eighth lunar month was coming soon. In the past, she and Ren Shaochen would have lunch with Qu's parents at her house, and then drive to the countryside to have dinner with the second son of Ren's family.
I would also have group meals there and occasionally stay there for a few days.
I have been so busy with all these messy things recently that I have forgotten this. When I heard that my mother-in-law still remembered that she likes to eat mandarin fish, Ruoning felt even more guilty.
