Chapter Eighteen: The Infatuated Man

I have suffered too much insomnia recently. I looked at the panda eyes on my face and shook my head helplessly. Compared with other thirty-year-old women, I have maintained it quite well. My skin is still white and elastic, and I look younger. I look about twenty-five years old, but once I stay up late, my face will have a bad yellow color. It is no longer a good foundation for girls in my twenties.

I applied a thick layer of concealer under my eyes and took an hour to dress myself up carefully from beginning to end. I smiled at myself in the mirror, revealing my standard eight teeth.

I went downstairs with my bag and the road to the east gate was repaired. I had to take a detour to the west gate, which I almost never walked.

The front of the car was blocked, and there were many people standing next to it, most of them were women, forming a large circle. The road was really blocked. I stuck my head out and asked a big sister next to me, "Sister, what are those people doing there?"

"Where are moving in front? I don't know who has developed it. I heard that many imported Italian furniture are not needed anymore, and they are brand new! The neighbors saw that there was something suitable, so they picked up some and went home."

People are inevitably greedy for small gains.

I was stunned for a moment, and I didn't know what was going on, so I got out of the car. I walked through the crowd and saw the moving team busy, with the furniture in black and white style. It was obvious that the owner was a cool and fashionable man.

A bedside table was thrown down, I swept the sign on it, my body stiffened, and just as I was about to identify it carefully, three or four women next to me flocked to each other, fighting for each other, without the demeanor he usually maintained.

When the Persian blanket was thrown aside, I could no longer save it. I reached out and grabbed the worker next to me and asked, "Which floor do you move?"

The worker was surprised to see me like that, and looked at me with a shocked look. After a moment, he touched the back of his head and said, "808!"

I staggered the workers downstairs. Seeing that the stairs were not going down, I held the elevator and rushed up. My movements were very panicked and rapid, and my heart was beating quickly with a familiarity. The blood in my body was surging and rising towards my head.

On the eighth floor, I didn't stop for a moment, and there was no breath in the middle, as if I had been slow, I would have missed something. When I rushed into 808, the house was empty and there was still a worker left, carrying the remaining bits and pieces. He was also surprised to see me rushing in.

He asked, "Miss, are you?"

I ignored his question. I glanced at the room everywhere, walked quickly to the thick beige curtains, and opened the curtains with a squeak. The sunlight leaked in from the floor-to-ceiling window and entered my eyes, making my eyes hurt.

I stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and looked outside. The cells in my body were getting clean little by little. My body stood there motionlessly, and then my body began to tremble from my fingertips until my whole body was trembling.

In front of the floor-to-ceiling window is my balcony. It is not far or near. I can also see the nightgown hanging on my balcony, swaying in the wind, and the beautiful and blooming daffodils.

I finally understood why there were always curtains on the opposite side of the residence, and I thought no one lived there?

My heart softened, as if I was lying in cotton, sinking a little bit, and I couldn't stop myself from falling because it was too tempting and too comfortable, so I couldn't do anything about it.

I took out my phone, my hands trembled so much that the phone slid from my hand and hit the floor. I hurriedly bent down and picked up the phone. My feet were somehow soft and could not support my body. I fell to the ground, my butt and the ground criticized me, and the pain spread throughout my buttocks. It was obviously a slight pain, but my eyes were filled with tears.

I pressed the phone and wanted to ask clearly what he was going to do? What he was doing, and what should I do?

But I didn't give me a chance to ask for it, my phone was still turned off, and Brother Chen's phone still couldn't be connected. I hugged my knees with my hands and buried my head in my arms.

Tears were uncontrollably slammed downwards, hitting my thighs, sliding down along my skin, dripping onto the floor, making a very difficult and slight ticking sound.

The footsteps came, but I still ignored me and cried myself.

"Child, are you okay?" An old man's kind voice gently patted my back with one hand.

The voice was so tempting that the old man reached out and hugged me in his arms, and I leaned against the old man.

I don’t know how long I have been crying, but the phone rang. When Ah Mei called, I could only tell her in a hoarse voice that I would take leave this year.

The old man looked over 60 years old. I don’t know when she had a cup of hot water in her hand. She smiled at me gently and said, “Child, you have cried for too long and your throat is not good! Drink some hot water!”

I reached out and held the cup. The temperature of the hot water made my hands cooled down and my body gradually became hot. The old man sat in front of me and looked at the opposite side.

She smiled and told me quietly, "In March last year, an agency said that a customer wanted to spend a lot of money to buy this house. I was unwilling to kill him. My son and wife bought the house. We lived here for five years and they never came back from traveling to sea. Later, the agency told me that others would not buy it anymore and rent it, but I still disagree. One afternoon, a man in his thirties knocked on the door. He told me politely that he was the one who wanted to rent this house."

"At first glance, I was surprised. He looked a little like my son. I let him go into the house. In fact, from a conversation, I could tell from the people who should not live in this place. I asked him the reason, and he told me very truthfully that the woman he loved lived opposite the house. The woman was in poor health and he was worried about what else would happen to her. So I promised him to move in. Usually he was very busy at work and didn't live here for a long time. He was back, and usually came back at one or two o'clock. What he often did was sit in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with a chair and looked at the opposite side where the lights had already been turned off. I always wanted to know that woman was so lucky that there was such a lovely man who loved her."

I held the quilt tightly with my hands, and my eyes drifted from the floor-to-ceiling window to the nightgown blowing in the wind, and my dry eyes were stained with mist.

I said to the old man in a hoarse voice, "Thank you, old man!"

The old man shook his head, "Actually, I am also grateful to the young man. If he hadn't come, I would have never been willing to admit the fact that my son and daughter-in-law had left. I'm leaving, and I'm going to join my eldest sister in England."

The old man left, and I was sitting alone on the sofa, looking at the empty room, and couldn't help but curse in my heart, "Li Xiuzhe, this fool!"

The look of him smiling and saying, "I'm just Su Xiaoxiao's fool!" came to his mind.

The corners of my mouth couldn't help but smile, and it was bitter and sweet, and it looked like a fool.

When Brother Chen replied to my phone, it was already afternoon. He asked me respectfully, "Ms. Su is sorry! On the plane, my phone was turned off. Is there anything you have to do?"

He is also in the United States! Then he has received my call too! Why doesn’t he reply? He is still angry, right!

I laughed a few times and asked a little embarrassedly, "Brother Chen, how is Mr. Li's temper recently?"

When it comes to the boss's topic, Brother Chen is very cautious about his words. "Ms. Su, Mr. Li is busy buying steel, and his work intensity is relatively high."

Someone has a bad temper, I don’t want to go up and hit the gun, “When will you come back?”

"According to the itinerary, we will return to City B next Wednesday. At 7 o'clock in the evening, President Li will attend the school meeting for the anniversary of Q University."

I nodded on the phone. When Brother Chen saw me silently, he asked, "Miss Su, do you have anything you need to bring to Mr. Li?"

"No, thank you Brother Chen!"

"No need to thank me, I should." Brother Chen still responded politely.

As soon as the phone hung up, I immediately called Amei and told her that I would fly to City B next Tuesday.
