Chapter 354: The Empress Dowager's Confidence

The Red Keep is the royal palace in King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, located on Aegon's Hill.

After Aegon's conquests began, he crossed the Blackwater and established King's Landing as his capital.

On the top of the tallest of the three hills of King's Landing, known as Aegon's Hill, he built his first fortress of earth and wood.

After conquering the Seven Kingdoms, Aegon ordered a royal castle to be built on the top of the hill.

The work was completed during the reign of King Maegor I, who had all the construction workers killed to prevent the secrets of the castle's interior from being revealed.

The Red Fort is built of light red stone and has seven huge iron-roofed drum towers.

Thick walls surround the castle, and there are countless bunkers and battlements on the walls for archers to shoot.

Thick stone parapets, some four feet high, protected the edges of the city walls.

The heads of traitors were usually stuck on the iron spears on the crenellations of the city wall between the gatehouses to show the majesty of the royal family.

The city wall has huge bronze gates and iron portcullises, as well as some narrow side entrances.

A cobblestone square is located in front of the huge barbican.

Behind the city wall there are many small inner courtyards, arch halls, covered bridges, barracks, cellars, and barns, which can be regarded as a small town.

The Iron Throne, the throne of the emperor, is located inside the Red Keep.

There are also several party halls inside the Red Fort, including the Great Hall and the Queen Mother's Ballroom.

There are some Targaryen relics in the foyer, such as dusty black armor and a dragon's skull.

The doors are made of oak clad with black iron.

When the weather gets cooler, the floors are covered with luxurious mil carpets.

However, in fact, the Red Keep is not very big, and its total size is smaller than Winterfell.

But it is also one of the most representative buildings in Westeros, second only to the Great Wall.

Today, the Queen Mother summoned the ladies of King's Landing to have a carnival in the ballroom.

The mirror behind the bracket reflects the bright torch, filling the Queen Mother's ballroom with silver light, but there are still shadows in the hall.

Ser Ilyn Payne, one of the Kingsguard, stood at the back door like a rock, refusing to eat or drink, abiding by his duties.

Osney slipped in from time to time to report news to Cersei.

When he first came in through the back door, Cersei had just finished her soup.

He first said something to his brother Osfli, then climbed onto the high platform and knelt beside the Queen Mother's high seat.

He smelled of sweat, and there were four long, scabbed scratches on his face. His hair was spread over his neck, covering his eyes.

Although his words were hurried, Cersei could still hear him clearly.

"The archers are ready. As long as the mob dares to break through the door, they will press the crossbow trigger mercilessly. There is also bad news. Some drunkards from Flea Bottom are taking the opportunity to rob homes, but our golden robe guards

There is no way to deal with it anymore, and the Great Sept of Baelor is full of people, and they seem to be waiting for the order from the High Sparrow to launch a general attack."

Cersei asked calmly: "My son, where is your king?"

When the Queen Mother was in the ballroom, she always showed herself in her original state, but she covered up the traces left by the birth of three children.

If there weren't too many people in the ballroom, Osney could no longer control himself and rushed up to punish her severely.

"His Majesty the King is now in the Great Cathedral, begging the Archbishop to forgive Queen Margaery."

"Stupid! But Tommen is the king of a country. No matter how bold the High Sparrow is, he dare not do anything to him. My son is deeply loved by the people!"

Osney agrees with the Queen Mother's concubine.

Those mobs dared to kill and rob anyone, but they could not touch the king.

But he also had a guess, that is, maybe the High Sparrow gave an order not to allow the mob to disturb the king.

Cersei asked the waiter to get another glass of wine. She was always satisfied with the wine valley.

This is the finest golden wine from Qingting Island, a fruity and mellow wine.

The Queen Mother liked the taste of this wine. She drank a lot, and the more she drank, the more beautiful she became.

Her cheeks were as red as a ripe red apple, and there was a bright and fanatical look in her blue eyes looking down into the hall.

It seems that he is not worried about the riots of the sparrows.

With a pair of eyes burning with wildfire, Osney thought to herself, she didn't care about the life or death of Margery's little cousin, what she cared about most was her own status.

The musicians were playing, the poets were singing, the jugglers were doing tricks, the moon boy was swinging about the hall on stilts, mocking everyone present, and Sir Nars was chasing the young maid on his broom horse.

The guests laughed loudly, but their words seemed insincere, as if they could turn into sobs at any time. It was a forced smile, and it was the wine waiter who was forcibly called by the Queen Mother.

They are here, but their thoughts and hearts are outside the Red Keep.

They dare not express their true emotions because the Queen Mother will execute them before the sparrows do.

Some people have already tried their own hands to test the law, although the ruthless temporary law was set by the Queen Mother.

Cersei scratched her itch, and then asked lazily: "Is there any news about Ser Cleos?"

Osney replied affirmatively: "Not yet."

Seeing the Queen Mother's enthusiastic look, his eyes no longer averted.

Cersei noticed it, but had no intention of punishing him.

Without James, she belonged to any man. She didn't want to be like this, but she just couldn't control it.

Others can't guess what's in her heart, but she knows that she needs every soldier.

If the atmosphere were not delicate, she would be willing to take the ugly Osney to the bedroom and let him fight for her.

Cersei just casually asked about the meager power of Dragonstone.

"It doesn't matter, just a few hundred people plus one mercenary will not help us. They will probably be overwhelmed by the hungry mob as soon as they enter King's Landing City!"

What she cares about is the attitude of her father, Tywin Lannister.

"Did my father reply?"

Osney actually kept looking for opportunities to talk about her problems.

"He came back. He said that the war will be over within a week, and then he will return to the DPRK to wipe out the rebels!"

Cersei smiled.

"Very well, I don't know who gave the High Sparrow the courage to offend the majesty of the Iron Throne!"

Osney reminded her frustratedly.

"Your Majesty the Queen Mother, we may not be able to hold on until the regent returns victorious."

Cersei was extremely calm: "No, Margaery is now detained by the High Sparrow. Mace Tyrell will not sit idly by and watch. Let's wait and see. The Highgarden army will give up participating in the extermination of the Dothraki.

Arrive at King's Landing within three days to ask for someone from the High Sparrow."

"Yes, but the number of those mobs is ten times greater than our golden-robed guards!"

As an army commander, Osney was not as indifferent as the Queen Mother. He knew very well that his own strength was not enough to last for three days.

Cersei said domineeringly: "You just need to guard the Red Keep with all your strength, and don't worry about the rest. If you really can't hold on any longer, I have a way to make all those mobs disappear!"

There was another thing she didn't say, which was that when the mob disappeared, most of King's Landing would also disappear.

Seeing Osney's mouth open and unable to speak, Cersei waved her hand impatiently and said: "Please step back."

"Yes, Your Majesty the Queen Mother."

Osney responded helplessly and looked at Cersei deeply, as if he wanted to imprint her in his mind forever.

Then he stood up and reluctantly left the ballroom.
