honorably wounded
I dragged Alan and ran all the way into the alley. I leaned against the gray wall and gasped for air when I felt a sharp pain in my ankle.
"I knew I would be wearing sneakers today."
I accidentally twisted my right foot when I was running just now. The situation was so pressing that I could not stop. I could only run all the way. When I stopped, I felt the pain was unbearable. I simply kicked off my high heels and stood on the cold concrete floor.
The swelling and pain in my ankle made it impossible for me to steady my body, so I leaned to the side and was supported by Alan.
"I'm sorry." Alan looked ashamed, and the corners of his mouth were red and swollen.
I waved my hand and said, "It's none of your business. It's not your fault that you're good-looking, but... you should have some money. I have to take a taxi home." I just ran away and had no chance to go to the bar.
Take my bag, I'm penniless now, I don't even have a mobile phone, I can't walk all the way home like this.
Alan stood next to me, held one of my arms, and said, "It's better to go to the hospital first."
"No need..." I raised my feet and looked at it, "It shouldn't be a big problem."
Alan frowned and looked at me, sighed, and said in a gentle but insistent tone: "Let's go to the hospital. Can you leave? Do you want me to carry you?"
"No, no, no, just support me."
Maybe it was because I had been running and focused on escaping, so the discomfort in my ankle did not attract my attention. Now that I was moving slowly step by step, the pain became more and more intense.
Only when we arrived at the hospital did we realize that Alan's insistence was right.
"Torn ligaments." The doctor came to the conclusion after a simple examination. "Go and pay the money, bandage it, remember to change the dressing every day, and come back in a week."
The feet were smeared with medicine and bandaged, but the pain did not diminish at all. Looking at Alan's silent and solemn face, full of self-blame, I couldn't even scream out the pain.
"Hey, why are today's young people so stupid?" I leaned half of my body weight on Alan and could only hop out on one foot. "Does that girl have a cramp in her head? She's already calling me husband.
They are still teasing you, so they are deliberately using you as a catalyst for their feelings."
Alan remained silent and walked with his head down.
I kept up my efforts, "I see you are quite thin, but those two moves were quite powerful. It really looks like that. Have you practiced?"
After the girl screamed, those people seemed to suddenly come to their senses and rushed forward to take action. I immediately pulled Alan and ran out. Even so, Alan still struggled with them for a while, and one of them got punched by him.
He also got hit twice. Fortunately, we were standing not far from the door, and security guards came out, so we both escaped unharmed. But for a fair and gentle boy like him, who can use boxing moves, it's quite good.
To my surprise.
"Yeah." Alan nodded and continued to be silent.
I'm distressed. Can't this child see that I'm trying to comfort him? Why do I say that I'm also a wounded person now, and I didn't let him comfort me. I have to comfort him in turn, but he doesn't appreciate it. What's going on?
I tend to lose control when my energy surges. The result of losing control is that I regarded Alan as the big dog my grandmother raised when I was a child, and slapped him on the back of the head.
"I said what's wrong with you? I'm not dead. I just tore my ligaments. I'm not holding you responsible. Why do you put on a sad expression of silence...or are you afraid that I won't pay back your medical expenses?
