21. Escape

The disappearance of Changsheng? The sudden appearance of bones and broken arms? The strange circle that he can't get out of? Yangzi's mistake? The mysterious underground tombs? The clusters of skeletons? Is all this just a coincidence?

I felt more and more that we had fallen into a trap. All of this forced us to fall into a hole in the ground. It was only our unique initiative of cutting down a big tree to make a ladder that allowed us to escape.

Why do underground caves appear in the mountains and forests? Why are there dozens of brand-new coffins hidden, but the white skeletons that crawl out look like hungry demons that have been waiting for thousands of years. All this gives me a splitting headache.

I found that since I escaped from the hole, my whole body became weaker and weaker. I thought I was exhausted from fighting with the skeleton, but I didn't take it to heart.

The seven of us lay on the ground, gradually becoming confused and falling asleep.

We were so tired this night.

Finally, daybreak came, the thick fog dissipated, and the crisp woods appeared again. A drop of dew woke up the dog's eggs, and we were all woken up by it.

"Brother Sheng, Liang Zi, and Yang Zi, please wake up quickly, it's dawn." Goudan shouted.

I slowly opened my eyes, only to feel the darkness and a splitting headache. I quickly asked, "What happened?"

"Its daybreak."

"Oh." Only then did I notice that it was really bright.

I endured the pain of my head exploding and got up. I knew I couldn't fall down. I was the backbone of these people and they still relied on me.

"Okay, let's go." I said to everyone.

"Wait." Liang Zi picked up some dry branches from the ground, covered the entrance of the cave, and attached some leaves, "Let's go."

I looked at the cave, but I was still scared. My life was almost buried down there. I didn’t know what happened to the skeletons inside. I suddenly wanted to slap myself. I was caring about these evil creatures.

?

With everyone, we looked for the direction. This mountain forest is in the northwest of the village. As long as we find the southeast direction, we can return to the village smoothly. But how to find it?

"Brother Sheng, do you think we can go out today?" Xiaofang asked.

At this time, the few of us couldn't muster any energy. We just wanted to find the exit quickly, get home, and have a peaceful sleep. We didn't know how anxious our parents were.

"Yes, I can definitely do it." I said with confidence, but I didn't know.

"Brother Sheng, aren't you knowledgeable and knowledgeable, so you are a good fighter? How did you find the direction?" I usually brag to them about these words, but now Liang Zi just used them to laugh at me. It's really a great irony.

I carefully replayed the books I had read in my mind. What I found in those popular science books was of no use at all. There was nothing about how to survive in the wild and how to identify directions. Instead, there was something about following the road.*

*Thinking forward is the light, but we can’t find this road.

So, I decided to never read those popular science books again after I went out. It was so damn harmful.

Of course, only when I grew up did I realize how naive I was that night, actually using the ideological lines of these great leaders to find my way home when I got lost. You must know that their routes are for people all over the world to follow, not for others.

We are such little kids.
