7. Refactoring Garbage

Women's Day, March 8, 2010, Monday.

At six o'clock in the morning, Lu Zhou woke up and after washing,

"Okay, then go to work and wait to earn some money."

Before going out, Lu Zhou glanced at Fang Qiang who was sleeping soundly on the sofa. Lu Zhou couldn't help but secretly sigh that this little junior brother was so cute and silly.

Last night, Lu Zhou drank too much water and got up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. He was a little surprised when he saw Fang Qiang in the living room still burning the midnight oil.

After Fang Qiang finished his work, he still couldn't forget Lu Zhou's code-writing operations and the various miraculous ideas in the afternoon. He kept studying the earlier code and looking up the information.

Lu Zhou didn't say much. It's always a good thing to be diligent when you're young, and it's hard to extinguish his interest when he's in the mood.

Shaking his head, Lu Zhou carried his bicycle downstairs and prepared to go to work.

Right now, I have just been reborn, and my savings on hand are only a small amount of 10,000 yuan. In the future, the automatic registration process will cost more than 2,000 yuan each month, as well as the daily expenses of rent. If I really stop working, then

This money can only last for two months at most.

After going downstairs, the door of the convenience store downstairs was also closed. "It seems that Ye Qingchen has gone to class."

So Lu Zhou got on his bicycle directly and rode through the crowds of people on the campus road of Yixian University in Guangnan University Town.

The company Lu Zhou is currently working for is called Phaeton Cloud, which is mainly engaged in the IDC business of server leasing and buying and selling. It is not strictly an Internet company.

His position is responsible for researching and implementing cloud computing virtualization services and realizing data scheduling and automatic management of virtual cloud hosts.

It sounds quite high-end, but the research of their department in the previous life was not completed, and even the prototype was not seen.

Phaeton later gradually collapsed and disappeared in the tide of the times.

Amazon AWS, which is far across the ocean, launched elastic cloud services as early as March 2006. After several years of technological advancement, in 2010, it has become a relatively mature technology field, but there are not many companies that have actually commercialized it.

In China, most of the trendsetters who follow the trend will become the dust of history in the future.

“Alibaba started its first Double Eleven event in 2009, and Penguin Prestige is about to set sail next year. Everything seems accidental but also inevitable.

Double Eleven means sudden high-performance demand during a certain period of time, which requires the temporary addition of a large number of servers.

In order to achieve high availability and avoid production accidents caused by downtime, Weixin has disaster recovery servers in three campuses in two places, which means that relatively idle servers will exist for a long time. Amazon’s original intention of opening the cloud was just to rent out idle servers to increase revenue.”

Lu Zhou thought so.

After all, cloud computing is not just for cloud computing, the server itself is a heavy asset equipment.

This means that only large Internet companies have business needs and need to use tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of servers.

Only when the business itself has sudden high-performance needs can a real cloud computing enterprise be born.

Alibaba Cloud Computing will be like this in the next one year, Penguin Cloud Computing will be like this in the next two years, and Qiandu Cloud Computing will be like this in the next four years.

"Probably, there is no such thing as water without roots." Lu Zhou concluded on the bicycle with a transcendent vision.

When we arrived at the company, it was less than a month after the Spring Festival holiday, and all the company's business had not officially started yet. There were yawns in the office.

Lu Zhou looked around. Among his colleagues, there were some whom he would occasionally contact and talk to in the future, some who were strangers to whom he only talked about work since he joined the company, and some who Lu Zhou still couldn't remember their names when he saw them now.

Among many colleagues, my team leader, Fatty Wen, was the one I knew well, and they later even started a business together.

Of course, even though he is the team leader, he only joined the company one year earlier than Lu Zhou, so he became the team leader.

After all, cloud computing is still a new thing in China, and even the three giants have not yet opened their businesses. Most talents are transferred from operation and maintenance or are trained as fresh graduates.

At this time, Wen Xuwei's call came from another compartment, "Lu Zhou! Come on, come here."

After Lu Zhou put down his backpack, he walked over to Wen Xuwei's workbench, "Haha, fat brother, long time no see. What's up? Is there something to do?"

"Okay. I just took a look at your progress last week, and you wrote a bunch of garbage. I made several calls in succession, and there was no problem with the code execution, but the optimization is simply unbearable, little brother."

Lu Zhou also held his forehead, but it was the garbage code written by his predecessor that Wen Xuwei couldn't stand.

After all, Wen Pang himself is a technology geek and loves research. However, he will do whatever he can to optimize the program, regardless of whether he works overtime or goes home. He does not ask for a salary increase, but only pursues perfection.

And Lu Zhou had to admit that many of his work habits in his previous life were greatly influenced by Wen Xuwei, who helped him form correct coding habits.

Wen Pang himself also jumped to Alibaba Cloud Computing two years later because of his accumulation of bits and pieces and his fanatical desire for technology.

Wen Pang kept bombarding the code written by Lu Zhou like a barrage of bullets, while carefully explaining the ideas to Lu Zhou.

"Why do I feel like I was explaining to Fang Qiang yesterday..." Lu Zhou cursed.

Seeing that Wen Xuwei became more and more energetic as he talked, Lu Zhou felt helpless.

In the end, I could only throw out a few cloud computing ideas related to future generations. I just said that I had some ideas after reading an issue of the journal and asked Wen Xuwei to explain them to him.

This directly made Lao Wen stuck, frowning and lost in thought, while Lu Zhou quietly returned to his work station, turned on the computer, and prepared to reconstruct the code he had written before.

"You won't know if you don't know it, but you will be shocked when you see it. No wonder Wen Pang explains it so enthusiastically, I can't stand it anymore. This reconstruction will be too busy for a while, so I will slowly change it in the local warehouse first.

After making the changes, submit them bit by bit to avoid causing any sensation." Lu Zhou complained weakly to himself as he wrote.

Lu Zhou's modification lasted a day. Except for going to the bathroom and lunch time, Lu Zhou basically stayed at his workstation and refactored the code.

It wasn't until Wen Xuwei asked Lu Zhou to go downstairs to have dinner that he noticed that he had already gotten off work.

Wen Xuwei glanced at Lu Zhou's screen and said with some surprise, "Boy, didn't I just say a few words to you this morning, so that I wouldn't have reconstructed the entire part you were responsible for? Huh? Hiss! Roar...

.Nice reconstruction of this call!”

Lu Zhou was also funny. He just wanted to give himself some ideas that morning. He never thought that he would actually do such a thankless job as refactoring the code, but he just said haha, "Haha, you

As the saying goes, strive for perfection in everything.”

Wen Xuwei touched his face with his fingers, looking a little embarrassed, "Okay, you can figure it out. I don't have anything to do at the moment, so I can help you reorganize it tomorrow. Let's go and have dinner after get off work."

When they arrived at the fast food restaurant downstairs of the company, they ordered a piece of farm-style stir-fried pork. While waiting for the food to be served, the two of them chatted about some of the technical ideas that Lu Zhou had just thrown at Wen Xuwei.

However, Wen Xuwei was confused and cursed, "I'm afraid the garbage code before was not written with feet. The refactored code just now still has these ideas, please be a real expert."

"You have to wait, you have to wait, you have to wait," Lu Zhou's Nokia 5800 rang the classic ringtone. Hearing this sound for the first time since his rebirth made him feel nostalgic.

After glancing at Fang Qiang's phone, Lu Zhou answered the call. Before he could speak, Fang Qiang yelled, "What a big deal, Brother Lu. Brother Lu, it's a big deal!"

"

The roar made Lu Zhou take the phone away from his ear, "Keep it down, your eardrums will be shattered. Tell me, there is something wrong with the program."

"Like this, I just logged into the management backend, and then I couldn't access it. So I logged into the backend of the Ali store you gave me, and guess what?"

Lu Zhou was also funny, so he just made a joke, "Either there is an order, and the two programs take up too much server performance, causing the management background to return 502. Or your code is too bad and there is a bug. Choose one of the two.

"

Fang Qiang, who was on the other end of the phone, was also speechless for a while, "Brother Lu, you are so smart and want to hurt me by the way, I'm afraid even your friends won't be able to do it."

"Okay, let's talk about how many orders we can have. The program itself doesn't take up a lot of resources. Even if we don't have seventy or eighty orders, the management backend won't collapse."

Fang Qiang roared again and said, "Oh, I can't hide anything from Brother Lu. There are seventy-five orders in total. Hahaha, sent, sent!"

Lu Zhou was also convinced, and he was smiling a little. He thought that the advertisement of Alibaba Express played a big role in the early stage. At least for buyers with the same type of purchase needs, the price of Lu Zhou’s store was still quite attractive.

.

"What a good start. The problem is not troublesome. I will improve the configuration of the server later, and then provide you with a backup server. I will talk about the rest when I get back." Then Lu Zhou hung up the phone.
