Chapter 74 Planned Bankruptcy
Chen Jianqiu took the water bag from his horse and handed it to the old woman. Adam and the others followed behind him.
"Who are you? Why do they tie you up?"
The old woman was not in a hurry to answer their questions, nor did she take the water bag on Chen Jianqiu's hand, but looked at them.
Chen Jianqiu was not in a hurry to ask her more questions, but behind him, Adam was ready to draw his gun.
If the woman recognizes them as wanted criminals, Adam is ready to pull his gun to silence him.
"Did you come from another place? I have never seen you before." The old woman suddenly spoke.
Chen Jianqiu nodded.
"Can you let the man behind you who is ready to draw a gun relax? I am just a hostage who has just been kidnapped." The old woman took the water bag from Chen Jianqiu's hand and took a sip.
Chen Jianqiu nodded to Adam, and Adam's drooping hands left his waist.
The woman did not shout as loudly as he had imagined, running around in panic; she did not tremble or tremble all over.
Not ordinary.
She turned around and walked to the cowboy's body and looked at the wound on his head:
"The shooting is very accurate, the shooting skills are good." She praised while drinking water. It seemed that she almost fell off the horse and fell to death. It was not her. "You are cowboys from nearby towns."
Chen Jianqiu continued to nod: "Yes, let's find someone."
The old woman kicked the cowboy's body: "This is Clark's man, it seems that he still wants to attack my husband."
"What is your husband?"
"My husband is this Pitkin County sheriff, Danny Romney. By the way, aren't you looking for someone? He should be able to help you."
Thinking of his husband, a girlish smile suddenly appeared on the old woman's face, and then her smile flashed and turned into panic.
From just now to now, he was kidnapped and fell off his horse. Facing four unknown gunmen, one of them was even ready to shoot.
She didn't show any panic.
"I've been hurt, my husband must be worried about me now." The old woman handed the water back to Chen Jianqiu, "Can you please send me back? I can ask my husband to help you find someone."
"My name is Teresa." The old woman told Chen Jianqiu her name.
Sean and Feiniao looked at Chen Jianqiu.
It seems that several wanted criminals were not a good idea to ask the police officer to find someone, and, in Clark's mouth, the police officer seemed to be like Fultz, and he hated evil.
"Get on the horse, we have to be a gentleman. We can't leave the lady alone in the wilderness in the west." Chen Jianqiu got on the horse first and signaled Shaun to help the old woman Teresa up.
Listening to Chen Jianqiu's words, Adam rolled his eyes.
"Ms. Teresa, I heard that your husband wants to bring Clark to justice. Will his actions have something to do with this?" Chen Jianqiu asked the old woman behind him while riding the horse.
"How is that possible? My husband is an honest man. His police officer is just a puppet. I still don't understand why he takes on this job. Although it's difficult for us, it's not as good as looking at people's faces." Teresa sighed.
"The Phelps family and the Luckfield Gang have been playing games. The former sheriff was Clark's man. Later, he died of a murder. The two sides exchanged fire. The county magistrate mediated and finally chose my husband. He doesn't seem to have anything to do with both sides."
Chen Jianqiu had already roughly understood what happened.
He stopped talking and focused on taking Theresa towards Pitkin County.
...
Sheriff Danny stood at the door of the Ruckerfield Farm.
Unlike the cold reception in Phelps' estate, the farm is brightly lit at this moment. Just hanging a bunch of kerosene lamps with illuminated lights is not enough. The gang's cowboys lighted torches to illuminate the farm like daytime.
Clark was not wearing any coat and hurried out from the granary.
He spit out the cigarette residue chewed in his mouth and rushed to the gate.
"Ouch! It's Sheriff Danny! My distinguished guest! What wind has blown you here?" Clark trotted, spreading his arms, trying to give the Sheriff a warm hug.
The sheriff avoided.
Clark hugged the air. But he didn't seem to feel embarrassed at all. He looked at the cowboys guarding the door: "Why did you stop Sheriff Clark outside? Are you blind? Didn't I say that as long as the Sheriff wants, you can come and visit at any time!"
The cowboys at the door were stunned. They couldn't remember when their boss said such things.
"My wife was kidnapped. Did you do it?" Sheriff Danny's expressionless face.
Clark looked in disbelief: "How come you think so? Who dares to kidnap your wife?"
"You can check it out here!" Clark said confidently, "I have no reason to kidnap your wife!"
"I am a businessman now and don't like fighting and killing. The previous fights have cost me a lot of 'Daole'." He pointed to the cowboys around him. "These people are just maintaining order. You know, in the west, it's not okay to do business without anyone maintaining order."
"Have I done something extraordinary in your jurisdiction this year?"
Sheriff Danny stared at Clark who was talking and trying to find some answers in his face, but as an honest man, it was difficult for him to find loopholes in Clark's words.
"But there is a saying that I don't know whether to say it or not." Clark showed hesitation.
"you say."
"Don't forget how the previous sheriff died." Clark said sinisterly, "I heard that they are contacting some killers or outlaws recently."
Danny fell into deep thought.
"Please take you to my farm. If something is wrong, you can immediately send me to the gallows." Clark made a "please" gesture.
"No, I have to go find my wife." Danny shook his head.
Clark thought for a moment and snapped his fingers: "In this way, I will send a few brothers to find you, and then send a few people to the surrounding area to inquire. Do you think it's OK?"
"Thank you, please help me watch it, tell me immediately if there is any news." Sheriff Danny got on the horse and left the farm with several police officers.
Looking at Sheriff Danny's back as he walked away, the smile on Clark's face sank into the water like a stone and disappeared.
He waved to the person behind him.
"Are all the people who went out back?" he asked in a low voice.
No one dared to answer for a moment, Clark turned around, his face was very terrifying.
Finally, the person who was usually closest to him came up and whispered:
"The people who went to the market town had no news. When Pitkin rushed to pretend to be the wanted criminals, he should have succeeded according to the sheriff's reaction, but for some reason, he has not come back yet. Those who went to chase the bounty hunters before came back early, but it seems that they didn't catch up."
The scene was terrible and the cowboys didn't dare to breathe.
"Bang!"
Clark kicked the fence at the farm gate, and a piece of fence was kicked to pieces. He roared filial piety in anger:
"Waste! They are all a bunch of waste, and you, I spent so much money to support you. Do you usually pretend to be shit in your mind? Or are they all disabled?!"
He took out a piece of paper from his arms and waved and shouted in front of his subordinates: "Do you know what this is? I'm ready for the evidence of Phelps collusion with the wanted criminals. Do you know how much the damn judge asked me for? Ah?! Ah?!"
"You bunch of pigs! Waste! Trash!"
None of the fences could withstand Clark's anger and were kicked to pieces.
The people behind him were trembling, and no one dared to remind him that he was still at the gate of the farm. Although there were no one else present, this behavior was like a loud conspiracy.
Only after the eleventh fence was kicked off, Clark realized his incompetence and calmed down.
He looked at the cowboy behind him who had just answered him: "How is Fultz?"
The cowboy didn't dare to breathe, and replied carefully: "The telegram over there has been called to the town, saying that he has already set off and should be here soon."
Clark gathered his clothes and snorted coldly:
"It's better to be tough."
