Chapter 323 The Opening of the All-Star Weekend

On February 9th, the Rookie Challenge, which debuted as an appetizer, kicked off at the Phillips Arena in Atlanta.

The two sides performed a passionate dunk performance and a wonderful three-pointer performance without any defense.

In the end, the second-year team, led by Gasol, Arenas, and Richardson, was superior and beat the first-year team without Yao Ming 132-112.

Arenas, a good friend of STO and Jefferson, scored 30 points in this game and won the title of Most Valuable Player.

He relied on precise three-pointers to score 23 points in the second half, leading the sophomore team to comeback from a 12-point deficit in the first half to a 20-point lead in the end.

In this game, Arenas seemed intent on expressing himself, hitting 5 of 6 three-pointers in the second half.

Especially in the five minutes before the end, he scored three three-pointers in a row within 90 seconds, helping the sophomore team establish a 119-107 advantage and establishing the final victory.

Arenas' backcourt partner with the Warriors, Richardson, also performed well, frequently performing dunks with assists from Arenas.

The two of them cooperated well inside and outside, and they jointly scored 42 points in the second half alone!

In addition, Jefferson of the Nets also performed well. He contributed 21 points to the second-year team, and Gasol scored 17 points.

The sophomore team's 132 points in this game broke the rookie game scoring record.

In the first-year team, Butler, who plays for the Heat, scored a team-high 23 points. Stoudemire of the Suns also scored 18 points. His dunks were impressive. Gooden of the Grizzlies scored

16 points.

...

After the Rookie Challenge, there is the Skills Challenge.

This skills challenge is the first new event launched during All-Star Weekend.

In the end, Jason Kidd of the Nets was superior and won the first skills challenge championship.

This competition requires participants to complete a layup, dribble through obstacles, pass the ball in various ways, and then complete a three-point shot within a certain time.

The one with the least time wins.

Today's four contestants are all point guards.

The competition was divided into two rounds. In the first round, Kidd of the Nets and Payton of the SuperSonics defeated Parker of the Spurs and Marbury of the Suns, with results of 31.3 seconds and 35.3 seconds respectively.

In the finals, Kidd passed the first four parts smoothly, but did not hit a single three-pointer in the last one. However, he still skillfully completed all events with a total time of 35.1 seconds.

It is worth mentioning that his time in the two competitions proved that he is very stable, and the difference between the results of the two rounds was only 0.2 seconds.

Payton's performance was not stable enough. He was the last one to play. He struggled with passing the ball and missed 3 times. Although he completed well in the subsequent games, he still lost in 40.3 seconds.

After the game, the victorious Kidd faced the camera and said happily: "I can finally win something during the All-Star Weekend."

...

Next is another game during the All-Star Weekend, a three-on-three half-time exhibition game.

This game is obviously for entertainment.

friendship first, competition later.

If you want some hard-core amateurs from certain communities to play ball, and if you accidentally knock down an elderly person, you will see if they can blackmail you to death...

Members of the Los Angeles team include "Magic" Johnson, Leslie of the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, Jaric of the NBA's Clippers, and movie star Kutcher.

Members of the Atlanta team include former Hawks star Wilkins, WNBA Houston Comets' Swoopes, NBA Hawks' Terry and movie star Muniz.

In the 8-minute game, Atlanta took the lead.

Movie star Muniz took the lead in hitting a three-pointer, and then Wilkins, who was known for his dunking ability in the NBA, showed off his dunking skills in front of the audience.

When Atlanta led 15-12, "Magic" Johnson began to perform. He made two consecutive layups, and then Jaric used a three-pointer to give Los Angeles a 19-15 lead.

Keuchel's final layup brought Los Angeles' score to 23 points.

Although Wilkins scored another goal at the end, Atlanta still lost 19-23.

Wilkins scored the most among all players, scoring 9 points on 4-for-16 shooting.

...

After the entertainment show ended, the day's proceedings began with the main meal.

The first staple is the three-point shooting contest.

This competition is divided into 2 rounds. The top three players in the first round can advance to the finals of the second round.

The Magic's Pat Garrity was the first to play, but he was obviously a little nervous and only scored 13 points.

The second player to appear was David Wesley. His performance was even worse, with 1 point less than Garrity.

The next player to play was Peja, who lost to STO last year. This season, his three-point shooting rate in the regular season was as high as 40%.

The good competitive state was reflected in this game.

Peja played normally and scored 19 points.

The fourth player to appear was white forward Brent Barry.

Barry performed very well and finally scored the same 19 points as Peja.

Next came the Grizzlies' Wesley Persson, who hit two crucial goals at the last moment to beat the Magic's Garrity with 14 points.

The last one to appear was Antoine Walker, one of the Celtics' twin stars.

Walker is a very talented player from beyond the three-point line. He can shoot as smoothly as he wants, but if he doesn't...

Just like in the three-point game that just ended, I scored the lowest 7 points in the game...

Well, at least it's better than Michael Jordan's 5 points.

After the first round of competition, Peja, Barry and Persson entered the final round.

Persson made his first appearance in the second round.

He withstood the pressure, performed bravely and scored 20 points!

When Person came off the court, he received warm hugs and cheers from Gasol, Gooden, Battier and other Grizzlies teammates.

It looks like Persson is very promising to win the championship.

But Peja, who came on next, immediately kept the suspense of the championship alive.

He also scored 20 points.

Barry, who played the third game, was obviously under a lot of pressure when faced with two 20-point scores. He finally scored 17 points and was eliminated first.

Due to the tie-point situation in the second round, Peja and Persson had to play an extra round in the end.

Peja, who was the first to play, performed completely differently from the previous two times. He did not show a good state and only scored 13 points.

However, after Peja negotiated with the referee, everyone found that there was a problem with the scoring equipment on site, which affected Peja's performance to a certain extent. So the referee made a decision that Peja could vote again, but he had to wait for Pelle Sen's shot ended.

Persson scored 16 points in his third shot. This result was a bit embarrassing, but if the referee had not allowed Peja to shoot a second time, Persson would have actually won the championship.

But there was no way, Peja had one more chance, he had to wait.
